why are you on here?
Can't get enough of them.
I'm still on DiS 3.
Finding out about upcoming shows.
That's mostly it, really.
'Quirky' threads where we do things like audit our socks are a gentle distraction from work.
Threads on the music board where we make lists and find new music from people with similar taste
i find a decent number of users have decent stuff to say about stuff, and twitter and facebook have various drawbacks for discussing stuff
i also find a few of the users on here funny
game of thrones was top
mostly reading feminist articles posted by darwindude currently
Banal threads about fridge temperatures and clothes horses and that.
That's about it really, there are some actual serious discussions which are interesting from time to time but you know, it's all just stuff that happens before you die innit.
(Out November everyone, sign up to our new InSIder scheme to keep up with everything that's going on in the world of Football Manager and for 10% off your copy of Football Manager 2015 from the SEGA Store AND early access to the Beta version.)
i enjoyed free booze and nandos.
but the pay was too shit so he turned it down :(
really the best things about here. Oh, and Balonz.
Have the football threads calmed back down again yet? They gradually turned dreadful a few years back - very little but "Premier League bants".
Have always found this place a lot better to talk about football than any other forums that are actually designed to talk about football.
Aside from a few blogs - some of which have recently stopped - I can't think of many places that are much better. Unfortunately they're mostly one way posts rather than discussion boards. I'll just continue to avoid for the time being I think. :)
Talking to (generally) some nice people
for doing stuff to assist people who aren't registered users to gain access to the registration areas of drownedinsound.com
But then started messing about on the social forum and really quite liked it/some of you.
Good way to procrastinate
Also a good way to take my mind of some heavier issues and to have a laugh. Last year (as has been well documented) i had a shocker and coming here was genuinely really helpful and helped me feel much much better.
Have also met a few Dissers in real life and they've all been lovely
tbh i don't know how to NOT use DiS
Next Thursday, FIELDHEAD at Cafe Oto:
Are you referring, by chance, to Beard Rock's marvellously and beautifully written review of Fieldhead's album 'A Correction'?
(*cough* I wrote that review *cough*)
I kinda hate the internet. Too many people.
i hate the banal threads, they stopped being funny like 2 years ago.
want to go to disneyworld
and the crushing emptiness of life becomes too much staring at the seconds tick by
- reading articles people have linked to
- discovering music
- talking about films, though I haven't really done that for a bit (maybe?)
actually ethers and k8e need to show us their new DIGS
give people a randomly generated list of numbers and then just post numbers as fast as the shitty site will allow you to
that might be quite fun in a really frustrating way
Then I remember this place is pretty boring too and then I'm just stuck in limbo
it's usually a funny place to go and read
plus its a nice community
and I'm a bit addicted. I think it's wonderful but I really don't want to come on anymore because I fell like it's stops me from focusing. Can I be removed?
Depending on my mood I could be all po-faced left wing rantings or I might just be taking the piss. People don't seem to realise much difference tbh which is how I like it.
Posting video links of the Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Asking people if they like the Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Rating the Mighty Mighty Bosstones albums in order
Saying the Mighty Mighty Bosstones are better than that Radiohead band
Just posting the words the Mighty Mighty Bosstones
music and drink stuff sometimes
when you delete a post and everyone runs around like ants
threads too. I get that maybe you couldn't before because of the way you'd been treated but I think it would be good to get to know the rest of your personality so we can relate to you a bit more instead of just associating you with the real downer threads.
in fact I think many of us will try to be more so (I think many were genuinely a bit shocked at the threads from 2006)
a bit better
I dunno if people really want me in the fun stuff.
Oh, I've only just seen this, the main thread was occupying my attention. I dunno, my main mission objective in Mission Join Drowned in Sound, Be Cantankerous and Pushy is to get my points across and get out. I'm on here today/perhaps tmrw far more than I would ever be in a typical day because I'm off work with a cold/temperature.
I mean, getting people to like me is secondary, they're probably not going to without large amounts of cheerful posting from me, and I'm not sure I want to put in all the time. I might pop up here and there, but I don't think I'm going to become popular around here, although I have have some nice supportive private messages from people.
Ok, I will find the things I was looking for.
Nothing monumental, just some small adjustments. I wouldn't persevere if it was major stuff. Hills not mountains.
So it's just what I said then.
Please stick around and I'm sure we can all learn to be friends.
Have a good weekend.
but rules are rules, list the weezer albums in order from your favourite to least favourite. Cheers.
Weezer only have two albums, and split up in the late 90s. I refuse to be convinced otherwise.
If you put them in order. For instance: Pinkerton>Blue
Hmm, depends on my mood and how much I want to sing along. It's only with age you realise what a creep Rivers Cuomo is though ..
Lyrics like "I want a girl who will laugh for no-one else". Like my friend texted me the other week saying "Across the Sea came on the radio at work and I was all :DDDD and then when I was singing along, I suddenly went :(((( at the lyrics"
always rubbed me up the wrong way
i did really appreciate matt sharp, though
I really loved Weezer when I was 12-13 when you don't always think about this stuff, so the songs are kind of ground into my brain
learning about stuff I might not have come across otherwise
discovering new music
Staying in touch with what's happening the UK. Light-hearted comedy and puns. Ignoring the rest of my life/work. Used to love it for music but it's shit these days, no-one posts anything interesting or wants to discuss on the music boards.
flirting/being chippy with xylo
flirting/being chippy with fidel
there are so many annoying people on here now, it's great
If I just read stuff, I usually end up getting a bit bogged down in it. If I'm engaged in discussion, I tend to learn a lot more. That's what I've missed most during my times away.
I have nothing better to do
You're all messed up and need a code of conduct.
and as an audience for my incredible narratives
