i reckon that, whilst there probably are people who "make things about themselves" in a crass and self obsessed way, using the retort "not everything's about you" has become overused as a way of just shutting people down in discussions/arguments on the internet, including here. reckon it's a bit like "LOL UR IRKED" when it was peaking a year or two ago.
