The first one.
why'd you want us to kill him?
Haven't watched it since then, doubt it's aged well.
though the second is a bit long and talky in itself.
Got a whole room in the Factory Flat now dedicated to Samurai Swords, including I hasten to add a large selection of pumpkins which I practise my combat on. Also got a neat set of speaks in their so I can boom out cool music from the films. Love it
En Garde, En Garde for Life
i can't tell if this is true or not
Everyone has got to have a hobby as they say
but that the film itself is never more than the sum of its parts and he is nothing more than the sum of his influences.
The second film is much better, but that's not really saying much.
I thought the manga was good
I thought the fight scene with the crazy88 was really good (the first time) techniques like making it go black and white when she plucked out that first guys eye, was an effective device to the whole keeping the excitement going even though there had already been buckets of blood.
Because I am well old, I found some of the dramatic incidental music really distracting (some was from an old tv detective series called 'a man called ironside').
I liked the intro scene with the aftermarth in the church and thought the music was superb.
there were some dragging bits though. But on the whole, great, loved it the first time.
Final fight scene in the snow was a bit disappointing and not as beautiful or poignant as he was obviously hoping it to be, he should have left that to the Japanese or Chinese directors, they can handle that sort of thing far better
His best films are his first two and his latest two. His other films are still fun to watch though.
deserves some respect.

now they're mostly drivel
but I remember the first one being quite good and the second one being BORING.
So you are all wrong.
I've got to catch the last train.
I like that they seem quite different - the first is more action and fast paced revenge whilst the second is more emotional, with a longer drawn-out story.
I think they balance each other out perfectly.
