Do female hormones increase hunger?

OpenTheSatellites [Edit] [Delete] 13 replies 13:30, 30 August '14

There may be a lack of understanding on the daily struggle women face due to hormones.
http://articles.sun-sentinel.com/1987-09-01/features/8703110346_1_fat-cells-lipoprotein-lipase-estrogen

It could, or could not, be a much greater daily struggle for a woman to resist biological food cravings, which might be closely linked to hormone levels.

Discuss.

    • Obviously free will comes into play

I would be talking about weight control on a purely health based standpoint, with no concern of aesthetics in this current topic.
There are proven health benefits to weight control which I needn't link to you. Everyone, of course, should do what makes them happiest in that regard and never give into real, or imagined pressures.

      • (pressures on the topic of weight control)

I am not offering opinion on pressures regarding other lifestyle choices, or pressures regarding any other topic.

    • Thanks very much for this link BITT

He's presenting this in a great, unbiased way and just from part 1 the way over-production of corn has affected American's diets is fascinating.

      • Yeah, it's a real eye opener

Our whole way of thinking about food is really contaminated

        Watch the other two

      • Google listed it as if it were posted in 1987

        Which looked a little odd.

Like I say, it may or may not be a struggle which people may or may not be aware of, in comparison to daily cravings that may or may not be felt by the opposite gender, potentially, on a daily basis.

  • Androgen signalling and its role in eating disorders and android obesity is actually quite interesting. Interactions of sex hormones and neuroendocrinological mechanisms in both men and women is actually becoming a more actively researched and funded field..

Isn't the oestrogen in HRT meant to counteract weight gain and deposition of abdominal fat in menopause?

    • Android obesity

Would be a great name for a live Italo House 3 piece signed to DFA
