When you're having your star wars marathons do you go ...
I II III IV V VI
IV V VI I II III
actually I saw some of V on telly the other day and aside from the nostalgia pangs it invokes it was actually pretty shit.
Although I think TV just ruins it because it's always on ITV so it has advert breaks which means the film takes FOREVER to get going.
Also, they probably show the 'special edition' version that's a bit shitter.
where does it stop? Herr? Dogs? Park? Bridge? Nest?
A Bridge Too Far
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest
To Herr With Love?
You work up to the good films and the good guys win.
I'm weird about chronological order (within story). Plus, by starting with the shit ones, it means you have motivation to keep going through as the good stuff is still yet to come.
I've not tried it but supposedly you go
IV V II III VI and the you watch I at the end if you're really feeling nostalgiac for it.
Think I might do this next time
Just make sure your kids don't see that Simpsons episode first either. You know the one.
"de-specialised edtions" natch.
don't think it's gone unnoticed
so we can enjoy the proper threads unimpeded.
Star Wars (don't even acknowledge IV a new hope addition) the Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, all GOUT versions on DVD. Followed by my ewoks cartoon VHS. Don't want to ever watch the prequels as it is a lot better when the history is alluded to in the originals, I don't want the prequels cemented in my mind as what actually happened. Think instead of sequels they should just reboot it, do the prequel era better and string out the rebellion era over loads of films rather than salvage the original franchise.
but for me, the two trilogies are still so obviously two very seperate works or whatever. So the prequels don't really "cement" anything for me.
watch IV, then V a couple of years later, then a year later download and watch most of I while typing up some minutes, watch bits of II when it's on one Sunday, miss the beginning but watch most of VI on a boxing day, fall asleep half-watching III on a Saturday night
gave up at pod racing
It feels most natural to watch the old ones first and then the new ones, but then again the old ones are better so it's kind of nice to save them for last as well (mind you II and III are pretty good, III has made me cry once or possibly twice).
Heir To The Empire
Dark Force Rising
The Last Command
ROCK N ROLL!
Pretty sad the eu is being discarded, only read those three books but loved many of the comics, only downside of the Disney sale is dark horse losing the comic rights to marvel
excited for VII yeah??
Hamills been rocking his Jedi beard
look at him, all grown up!
