bang. that was from sunday though, not yesterday.
some stuff probably happened yesterday, dunno, whatever
I guess the non-ginger ginger mourinho might switch to:
against the top, top teams though.
But yeah that's probably right. Mourinho's said a few times that he's mainly brought Fabregas to break down teams that sit back against us.
showing net transfer spends of the top European clubs since 2009 (I think?) - Man City's was quite significantly below PSG, Man Utd, Chelsea, Barca and Real. Me and marckee couldn't think of anyone high profile they've sold, or a clogger they've cashed in on, apart from Tevez and Balotelli. WHo else?
not sure why that time frame was chosen. if you look at the last five years City will be a lot higher in relation to Utd, Chelsea etc.
the point of the subthread is that they still must have spent shitloads in whatever period you choose - so must have recouped shitloads in transfer fees as well, but on who?
they sold Rodwell and Johnson for a total of about £25 million to Sunderland too, can't recall many others.
That would be about the point they stopped spending £130m a season on incomings
Get annoyed when other teams talk about net spends though, we used to have exclusive clutching rights to that particular straw.
thanks to this fairly innocent subthread. never thought when i was a kid that enjoying football would equate to doing imaginary bookkeeping. what a world
to see the Juke playing in the prem last night, even if everything else about the match made me feel a little ill.
Sterling service for best part of a decade, no real complaints about your work, and then you're gone on the first game of the season.
Bang to rights to spray cock piss mourinho on the special one's hatchback
this sort of shit is right in his wheelhouse
I did enjoy telling people I actually knew a Chelsea fan, and that they do indeed have 12 toes and no reflection.
Courtois is one of the best keepers in the world already, Mourinho couldn't risk losing him by not playing him.
when we had Given and Hart returned from his loan
and more importantly, neither were as good as he is. Cech is surely one of the 10 best keepers in the world himself.
Not sure i'd have 2014 Cech in the top 10 though.
IMO Courtois is in a different league to Cech and is only going to improve. No room for sentiment. Do what's best for the team
By essentially saying he wouldn't sign a new contract if he went out on loan again.
If he had done, I think Chelsea would have looked to loan him back to Atletico for another year or two (probably to get a discount on the Costa/ Luis deals) and kept Cech for a while longer.
Kind of forced our hand a bit- and there was no point bringing him back from loan to sit on the bench.
He was excellent last season.
at least we'd better win. if we can't beat Blackpool in their current state then we might as well go back to League One now. hopefully we'll unleash our Spanish midfield on them and tika taka our way to a stunning 15-0 victory.
are there any good players who dont play for Real, Barca or Bayern these days?
Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City team look good.
which players from those teams would get into Barca, Real or Bayerns?
Aguero: Real and Barca
Silva: As above rotated in 2 but all day long in Barca.
Ramsey, Hazard for sure, Schrulle, Aguero ( If fit), Yaya Toure
over Ribery, but he plays in the same position as Ronaldo and Neymar.
I think Matic would get into any of them. And Filipe Luis based on how good he was at Atletico.
Also Courtois would get into Real and Barca's team.
And it sounds like we're leaving Oliver Norwood down there. If they're paying £1.2m for him, we've done well.
Chris Powell now seeming to be the favourite for the managers job. I'd be very happy with that, and he must know all about us, being as we've played Charlton about 500 times in the past 3 years. He could be in charge in time for our weekend fixture... against Charlton.
One game has been played you old coot
Podolski played a total of 54 mins.
zero matches have been played by the germans in your squad you old coot.
'most insufferable whinging manager' table this year.
wenger and mourinho will be favourites for the title, can see van gaal and rogers putting up pretty strong fights though. Pellegrini is a dark horse, but more than capable of providing an upset if things don't go his way.
yer men Pooch's single foray into the English language at Southampton was to have a right old whinge about the ref. Worth a punt at 6.0.
He spoke it fine on Saturday's MOTD.
Jokes, of course he will. The useless bastard.
We beat Fenerbahce last year (hell, we beat Udinese when we were far worse than we are now) so I'd like to hope we can beat Besiktas anyway, whoever plays tonight.
does this mean we (United) can offload our £27 million panic buy now? (Luke Shaw)?
Eduardo Vargas (Napoli) to QPR or Sunderland
Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund) to Man Utd
Alex Song (Barcelona) to Everton or Spurs
Troy Deeney (Watford) to Hull
Vincent Aboukar (Lorient) to Hull
Ron Vlaar (Aston Villa) to Man Utd
Sebastian Blanco (Metalist Kharkiv) to Aston Villa
Julio Cesar (QPR) to Benfica
Geoff Cameron (Stoke) to Hull
Leroy Fer (Norwich) to QPR
That's the big name signing United fans have been waiting for...
Ron Vlaar is here to save your defence.
Money has no meaning anymore
won't they, dad?
Ronaldo left Utd have never gotten more than 6.5m for a player they've sold. This can't be true can it?
Can't think of many departures since then that haven't been on frees or small fees thanks to them being old.
Hence why our squad is full of fucking shite.
They paid £14m for Wes Brown in my head
For that read basically nothing as a transfer fee on accounts of the wages Sunderland had to take on
than the fact that Sunderland have become City's garbage disposal unit. Johnson and Rodwell in successive seasons, and they're bound to have a sniff around Richards or Sinclair before the window is over
Other than that it seems legit.
thats about 20 strikers they have, right? Carlton COle will still lead the line.
but his gammy eye for a striker is at the very top. He's signed about 15 since he's been there and they've ALL been shit. Surely you should accidentally stumble across someone that can shin in the odd goal after that many?
ROJO JUST LIKED A PHOTO ON INSTAGRAM WHICH HAD HIM AND DI MARIA IN FRONT OF THE UTD BADGE!!! THEY'RE BOTH COMING!!!
going on with Rangers' share price. ive been watching it for a few days now. Hmmmm.
Anyway, enjoyed watching their drubbing of the Hot Pinkies (aka barry ferguson's Clyde, who managed to snatch one back in 90th min and deny rangers a clean sheet.)
I think I'm going to support chelsea this season, will you all really hate me? (not you danielkelly)
Supporting the odds on favourites to win the league when previously being on the fence perhaps seems unbecoming
I am basically tarting it out to the highest bidder right now. (ok Burnley).
West Ham, So'ton or (at a push) Tottenham or Villa.
Probably hget nice roller coaster seasons with that lot, while also not in most cases being entirely evil.
(I am so so sorry. I dug myself into a hole I couldn't get out of)
It's looking like our (Palace) new manager might be Martin Jol.
I love martin Jol but he'd definitely take you down
that is not a good fit.
But a trusted poster on our forums seems to be implying it's Jol. Neither Mackay or Sherwood have gone massively odds on yet, which implies no one actually knows.
Done deal then.
Now I've said that he has just gone from 4/6ish to 1/10 on. So that's me told.
Jol has come in from 66/1 to 5/1 this morning mind.
not expecting a brilliant game but I'd take something that followed the pattern of their start to the season and how we did against boro
I don't think I can bring myself to pretend (to myself) to support Aston Villa this season. Who should I pretend to support instead?
Seem to have a lot of cool supporters.
Great bunch of mascots.
they've... got a lotta swagger... if you know... what i mean
And Tony Fernandes has just said that our signings are thanks to Fifa and Whatsapp.
Really hope Whatsapp becomes the way all football transfers are sorted out in the future
mainly due to having a bit of the ball and not having to worry about the fact that our (Burnley's) two in midfield probably weren't as good as their (Chelsea's) three, and as such were over-run very easily. There wasn't anyone who was clearly not cut out for the PL I didn't think (Jutkiewicz looked a bit rubbish but not irredeemable). Taylor was v decent, Kightly v not decent. Felt a bit like a cup tie until half time.
Gone from being released by Huddersfield to scoring in the Premiership against Chelsea in just over a year.
hopefully can replicate the level of performance that was shown against brighton and derby.
this is one of only a very few home games it wouldn't be too saddening to lose, and we're a damn sight better than last season
I'm still in Sardinia, of course, so I shan't be among those present. Hopefully someone else will fill in
Can't believe that another £20m+ left wing-back's really the answer to their problems. Surely it's as simple as throwing £50m at a dominant centre-back and a ball-winning central midfielder? As a fan of a rival side i'd be more concerned if they signed, say, Chiellini and Khedira then if they bought Rojo and Reus.
How hard could it really be to go and buy someone like Carvalho or Khedira? Man City and Chelsea have routinely paid over the odds for players to get transfers done quickly and to climb up the table. Just something you have to do. CB might be a bit harder but it cant be that hard to find someone better than Jones, Smalling or Evans.
they could sign very good players who are better than what they have and quite probably more suitable to play in a van Gaal formation. Some unlikely moves perhaps, but Vertonghen, Skrtel, Nastasic, Vlaar as mentioned above, all better than Jones and Smalling.
but yeah, those are the positions we need to address the most, and they would be better signings... and, no, it appears we don't have any top centre-halfs or DMs lined up.
won't take a gamble on us when they can sign for an ever-improving Champion's League team.
People were saying this was the biggest club in the world eighteen months ago. Dunno if twenty years of winning titles is forgotten after twelve months of David Moyes.
you can hit the top four with a squad of good players. Not world class ones, not 'top, top, top' ones, but the kind that Spurs and Liverpool have often been able to attract, that City and Chelsea could attract before their titles. Most of those would have killed for 4 world class players.
We simply haven't been buying enough players to cover the positions, haven't been taking the risks on enough signings that a good proportion of them might pay off.
Trying to get one or two big name signings to take us back to the top, before we've got a decent squad for them to play with.
So instead, we've practically got the transfer policy of Real Madrid with neither the resources, bollocks nor stature to pull it off.
were a way for SAF to funnel out a bigger retirement fund. the bebe (obviously), zaha and powell deals in particular
and it made a complete farce of his entire tenure..like Revie at Leeds.
but it at least seems that the latter two were lazy, reactionary signings to tabloid hype, rather than the products of careful long-term assessments from our scouting network.
holloway was obviously either one of fergie's closest allies in football. we were linked with tom ince whilst holloway was manager of blackpool and the papers were reporting a move in the january transfer window was as good as done. then he gets the palace job and the tom ince link dies straight away and all of a sudden zaha is signed, despite no real links to him before holloway took over, and despite him being absolutely wank.
fink about it.
More likely just an old fella who couldn't really be arsed with his job and a board desperate to sign marketable faces.
not going to speak too soon coz s_a_d will be merciless if i do and then derby win, but these are exciting times whatever the result
but I covered myself admirably there
will go as far as to say that it might not last, without going full anti-bants wanker and promising that it won't (and that Derby might get 4 or 5 in the second half)
who knows? anything's possible when two good teams meet
They'll be put off by all the street lights and indoor toilets! 9-1 Charlton I reckon
For fucks sake...
Swap him for someone boring like Alan Irvine or Gary Monk
Like a new signing.
Need Vaughan and Lansbury back ASAP
Assombalonga bags his third, one for Fryatt too!!!!!!
Sounded like Pearce rang the changes at half time to good effect.
(we're uh right behind ya)
she says your shirt is too tight stop showing off
are the replicas a bit baggier? haven't seen any arsenal fans with the new shirts this season, which is amazingly refreshing.
nearly went top of the league too - but for a late keeping error. won't ever quibble a 3-2 win over many people's league favourites though. unlike some.
we're a thing now!
but we were last seasons liverpool. Top half will be good enough this season
Starting to think we should sell David Marshall out of sportsmanship though, he's easily Prem standard
sickening to concede so late though.
also fuck ian holloway, biggest fucking twat in football.
