## Hey maths hunks.

I'm currently writing something that requires a spoken mathematical equation but know fuck all about numbers and shit. Could one of you smart types give me few words to throw in there to make it sound more authentic? (It doesn't have to make any sense.)

I'm talking about this sort of thing

"So if 3x over y is equal to our rational number blah blah blah."

## use the word coefficient a lot

it's the multiplier of an unknown, so for instance in 3y, 3 is the coefficient of y

## or just, like, read the algebra str8-up and it'll be fine

can it just be any old maths? how long? i can come up with something if you want

what's the context as well? cos i think most maths people don't talk in a technical manner a lot of the time when they are talking about maths, it's in a much more down to earth colloquial manner. but if the person talking in this is giving a lecture it will be formalised and in a different way

## Yeah it's kind of a lecture

And only needs to be 5-10 seconds long. (A sort of in conclusion thing to what obviously has been a much longer equation.)

The point is That the person is trying to predict when a phone call will come through using maths.

If you could put together a few lines I would be forever in your debt (disclaimer. I wouldn't)

As previously discussed, we see that the integral of the Gaussian function over finite limits can simply be denoted by the error function, which in the infinite limit will tend to two over root pi. The values of the error function are already implemented within many programming languages but for the sake of our calculation we can fortunately use the first Abramowitz-Stegun approximation and, following lemma five point six through five point nine, combine this with the Heaveside step function in order to reach our final probability distribution
