anyone watching the salmond / darling debate tonight?
it's on for two hours!?
stv @ 8:00pm, sports fans
you can't watch it if you live outside scotland anyway.
I thought the 2010 UK ones could have done with being a bit longer.
I have to practice jumping through a ring of fire with my dog (not even kidding) but if I get done by 8 i'll watch it. I like big eck and I like darling so it might actually be quality. I am masively wavering about which way to vote. i was a massive No (having being por-uinion all my life) then I completely changed my mind over the ocurse of last year and now i just don't know any more.
they're making it sound like as long as darling doesn't shit himself on live tv that will be a win for the no camp
Hmmmm will probably watch just so i can shout at the tv
I'm not sure which way I'm going. I like the idea of all the lovely stuff being promised but doubt it'll ever happen. Totally behind the Devo Max compromise that will be offered before the election though.
I also worry about what will happen to England after independence (especially Newcastle and the North East) if I ever wanted to move back.
There'll be no Devo Max guarantee. None more binding than any of the promises coming from the other side. The chance was there to offer it on the ballot. It was refused. Any attempt to introduce it as a carrot on a stick this late in the day rings hollow. Re: travel to and from the NE. Replace NE with NI for an example of how it'd be nae bother.
If Scotland leave, Tories most likely get in in England/ Wales.
Tories generally give no fucks at all about the North East.
most of those are just things they'll be talking about : |
Will watch it on the STV Player if it's available when I get back in. Could go either way innit. It's as much about exceeding expectations as it is actually 'winning' the debate. Nicola fair destroyed everyone she went up against one-on-one in the earlier STV debates. Would like to see some sort of prominence given to something like Lamont v Harvie, etc, to emphasise that a Yes vote isn't a vote for Salmond.
already a good bit of scaremongering from darling "we can't go back! be afraid!"
salmond looked pretty bad there talking about the plans for our currency.
the stv player allegedly
That thing's shown no sign of even attempting to work all evening.
it never fucking works
Maybe the closer you live to Scotland the less it works? #voteyes
I'm in Edinburgh and there's no chance of the STV player working for me.
but I can't take it seriously because they keep ending every.single.sentence. with "lol"
as it happened
I missed the whole damn thing.
what's important is that you remain scared. shhhhh #projectfear
it wasn't great tbh. salmond looked pretty bad when he refused to say what we'd do if we weren't to get a currency union, but apart from that was alright.
darling was made to look a cunt a few times, but that was kinda expected. he didn't really have much to go on. went a bit michael howard at one point where he repeatedly flat out refused to answer a yes / no question "do you think scotland would be a successful independent country; yes or no?"
same arguments and same points everyone has heard loads before.
well, at least it's nearly over with now.... well, in theory.
salmond struggled to answer some questions, found it quite amusing that he got booed a couple of times by a crowd largely on his side.
Thought Ponsonby did well.
I thought nicola sturgeon did a better job at the johann lamont debate than salmond did last night
I find it incredibly difficult to listen to sturgeon, she's a humourless boot
which was clearly "Gaelic Language" lassie.
large chunks of the run-up to this as it's all gettting a bit too much already.
it's been the talk of my office
