The old one is a write-off, so put any GW chat in here from now.
I require no thanks
Just finished painting an entire 2,000 point army of thanks.
and one I think we'd all like to get to the heart of - what IS Games Workshop?
Unfortunately, it looks like the conversations already swiftly moved on (see below) but we'll return to this question, I'm sure (how could we not??) :)
we're all mates
Didn't want to have to do that, Jamienaz
Had a nostalgic thumb-through. What happened to Dreadfleet?
A googlin' told me that they released it as limited edition, then pulled it from existence due to poor sales. Ehh...
Stormclaw or something? Looked like a revamped version of the 40k starter box. CAN ANYONE CONFIRM?
Surely it can only be a monthly... there's not that much GW news in the world, is there?
to avoid leaks and their contract with new line over the hobbit models means they get fined if there are pictures before the official dates
To think how much pocket money I'd have gone through if that had happened when I was 14.
Only missing about 8 models from the entire LotR range :s
The page count of the US and UK publications was substantially different (for example, bearing in mind the US/UK numbering difference: issue US #319, 156 pages; UK #320, 132 pages) with substantial differences in actual amount of content (for example in the same issues: US, 114 pages; UK, 71 pages) and each magazine had substantial overlap with the other as well as unique articles
7th edition to replace the much maligned 6th.
there is only h_y_g having sex with roided up 7ft men
Which seems to be just a shop front now. Couldn't see any kind of 40k set or starter kits. Not that I have anyone to battle with, I just wanted to see what was out there now. Looks wank.
you'd have to be 55k to justify that
there's a backlog apparently though. Everyone hang in there until we get approval. Smee cannot hurt you and Jamienaz is just jealous
then planning on rebooting my Night Goblins due to the woeful painting they suffered when I first collected them.
40K is dogshit now, never going back to that.
Also, fuck the prices of the paints. Jesus. Was thinking about getting back into the painting - it was always my favourite part.
the Tyranid one is apparently terrible now :(
They seem to be pushing out these massive walker things that cost loads and look really shit: http://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Chaos-Space-Marines-Khorne-Lord-of-Skulls and http://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Imperial-Knight
Plus these awful things: http://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Space-Marine-Centurion-Assault-Squad
It seems to just be built around shooting now - boring.
Yeah you'll need a second mortgage if you want to think about buying paints.
"Centurion Assault Squads... They wield heavy duty siege drills that can breach even the strongest enemy fortifications"
So, I use these guys to attack walls? Awesome?
I don't even have a first mortgage.
I watched that Ultramarines film the other week. I knew it would be shit and it was. The cinematic at the start of Dawn of War was better.
I will avoid that then - have you played the Space Marine game? Actually not too bad. The orks are all cockney.
Here's the plot: it follows one squad of Ultramarines (most boring faction?). They answer a distress beacon. It's a trap. One squad of chaos space marines jump out at them. They shoot each other for a few seconds. There's a demon for a bit and you think it's dead. It's not. Then they kill it. The end.
So, in the vast 40K universe, we see two squads of space marines, one demon and about 2 minutes of battle.
so many chest high walls
For almost as long as I've known Warhammer exists I've wondered why they never gave the license to some game company to make a TBS with the actual rules. It'd break them out of the tabletop ghetto and make an absolute mint in the process, or so my thinking went.
Eventually I realised that if they did that the fact the game is horribly balanced would be revealed to a much larger audience that might otherwise be duped into spunking their pocket money on junk like this.
Looking forward to Sonic and Commissar Yarrick Allstar Racing nonetheless.
In a computer game, this would either be completely missing, or made ridiculous by having to buy your troops from the steam/PS/Xbox store.
Just remembered there was also one for the N-Gage too, heh.
Quite surprising just how many there have been, not so surprising how shit most of them are. Always had a lot of love for Dawn of War myself
"We would also like to see a 2000 word short story featuring Ultramarines fighting Orks."
"and then Brother Xerxes slammed his STORMSWORD onto the orks skulls 'orkz iz da blaaaargh' and yelled in triumph. 'For the Emperor'!!!! he roared and a thousand super humans yelled back in perfect unison 'FOR THE EMPEROR'!!!!!. Then they started pewpewing the everliving shit out of a load of gretchin"
though slightly offset by the fact it's in Nottingham and I just started a new job a week ago. Imagine the fun you'd have though. Even writing the cover letter would be a blast. I'd definitely do it in-universe style.
Greetings Brother Artemia. I trust this message finds you safe and well. As of late, my adopted home of Grexit and the entire Thracian system has been in a state of unheralded calm, for which we have to thank the Emperor and his servants, and the life here in the seminary has been most conducive to communing with the Imperial Ghost. I write to you as word has reached me that your chapter is seeking a new scribe, and I am heartened to recommend a young man of much promise, who has been documenting life here on the fringes of our system with a most discerning eye...
I guess the other reason to not apply is that you're already engaged. You wouldn't be able to take advantage of the absolute tsunami of fanny you'd get from introducing yourself at parties as a Games Workshop fiction writer.
Really tempted to send something in anyway. I wonder if the whole Black Library thing takes random submissions anyway? It's so much easier writing when you have an established setting to jump in to.
Basically warhammer on a budget, using unofficial miniatures to save money.
I like your blog: "The Gryphon is the most sugary dessert that I’ve ever seen in a starter box set. When I first saw it, I could only imagine what thirteen year old me would have thought of that being in the basic box set. Basically, there’d be something on my masturbation menu other than Belinda Carlisle for little Kieron."
It's been a labour of love. Saw your wheels the other day, but didn't have the time to stop and say hello http://superirons.tumblr.com/post/87620926338/julian-is-innocent
or City centre rental prices that kills Games Workshop - it'll be this. Your blog is going to destroy Games Workshop, kenako
You'll be pleased to know my sophisticated awareness-raising has finally paid off though - he's back! http://www.whufc.com/News/Articles/2015/June/30-June/Dicks-delighted-with-welcome
but I've been following this blog because the writing's so good (which is to be expected, given who's behind it).
with increasing rental prices in city centres and the huge rise in online fantasy gaming, I don't understand why it hasn't gone under.
and are releasing a new game on June 11th. If ONLY theyd listened
