the go team?
Do you think that counts as foreign?
Must be a shoe in.
When did they start sounding like Bikini Kill and My Bloody Valentine?
Also, MBV + good singing? I don't think it can work. I mean the whole MBV sound is a wall of noise where the vocals sort of drift through. Kathleen Hanna singing their stuff would be... Um.
Not quite MBV, but The Veldt/Apollo Heights generally did good Big Vocal shoegaze. Granted, Kathleen Hanna vocals probably wouldn't work well, but I'd be interested in the result.
I'm kind of sick of the cooing whisper singing that it seems like every newer Shoegaze band is afraid to break out of; all it brings to mind is a not as good version of MBV.
i think they should choose me
However I did grow up on riot grrl music and love 60s gil groups too. Plus my band mate have something to say.
girl not gil! It's early.
I thought I'd finally found someone else who appreciates Phish.
sack the rest of the band
get your current band to replace them
change your name to your current bands name
And most of their tracks incorporate that guitar sound matched with the kind of instrumentation associated with Riot Grrrl and twee (eg their first single, Get It Together' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THgZqTGZRqI)
I always thought that The Power Is On is very Bikini Kill-ish, especially vocally: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVkx1UzFTWc as is Huddle Formation: http://youtu.be/LSm6s--CYUQ?list=PL6E7DD2E2F74F7AFB
The first EP featured these tracks:
Kill The Klansmen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izRdYrEEnfY and The Ice Storm: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjU-IQh8Txo, both of which are pretty MBV-ish.
And come on, they're named The Go! Team! It's pretty obvious where his influences came from with a name like that...
