Anyone listen to this last night?
as far as I can tell they have restricted and unrestricted income - restricted is the money they can basically count on from big donations and funding organisations, unrestricted is from small individual donations and money made in charity shops etc. The unrestricted side has apparently dropped drastically in recent years. As a result of this they had to basically decide what they were going to focus resources on, and it inevitably has to be things like foreign aid and disaster relief. Meanwhile a lot of the people within the charity want to openly criticise the government/system in an attempt to change the narrative but they can't because some of the people who donate the most are also big bastards who have interests in things staying the same. Its rubbish.
Not sure who the contributors were, but I don't have too much sympathy with some of the larger national charities if they're claiming to be "silenced" by having become contractors for public service delivery. In other instances and especially at a local level it's certainly a much more complicated picture.
