Doing this for the first time today. Glorious.
To know what's appropriate to wear to work. I don't like feeling underdressed in a 'professional' environment. I'm okay if I'm out on site.
Shorts are okay - hot pants though to work, lay off them Maosm.
I'm wearing a sundress, kind of tea-dress style and it's in muted colour and just below the knee/ no obvs boobage- probably less revealing than a lot of my normal work gear, but because the material is floaty I feel like a silly little wisp. I changed into white hot[pants on that really hot day we had a week or two ago and got told to shut my door until hometime or go home and change (hooters vest might have been a bit much actually.)
I wonder what businesswomen in LA wear? Actually, everywhere is adequately aircon-ed over there, so it's probably not going to be too much of a help. I want to just work from home basically.
Where do you work?
I normally prop open the door to my own wee office but people were coming past to stare at what i had on and I was told to shut my door or go home.
with shirt and tie?
they should be sent home to change. what's the world coming to?
Been sweating my face off in a suit and tie all month.
Otherwise no chance
who wears cord shorts?
this came up in the cord thread a few months ago
this reads like you're chastising him for missing the cord memo
Cord is too warm.
Had a meeting yesterday and everything.
opted to wear a shirt tucked in with the sleeve rolled up. would probably have fitted in better when the office was in Henley.
"We ain't gotta dream no more, man"
Like that but with more marking and elbow patches.
Q: do you get any other kind of chaps? arseful chaps?
Been nearly 2 weeks now in this weather. Come, come winter.
but i am certain i'd blow the entire second pane of the double glazing out in here if i came to work in shorts.
unles they're a postman, or work in a skateboarding shop, in which case.. ditto
a shorts model for a clothing company that makes shorts?
for different reasons
or a guitarist in an australian hard rock band
forecast predict a temperature of 26 or higher then shorts are acceptable attire. There is no longer any evidence of this 'rule' but I - and a small handful of others - still stick by it. He's dead now. I do not work in the media, I am an office drone. My office has ice cold aircon.
in tight black jeans, well polished leather boots and shoes and a longsleeved oxford shirt, right?
I tell myself this every day as the sweat runs down my back.
winkle pickers...60s mod style
to go with a pair of chelsea boots
in July, and the locals are all wearing three piece suits, and there are guys riding mopeds in leather jackets, looking as cool as a cucumber. They do it to show us who is boss.
Cool, classy and calm in heated circumstances
I actually seem to dress up more on the weekends than I do for work these days.
but I still just dress the same. As it's hotter I dress generally in a nice light trouser and a lightweight henley tee with the sleeves rolled up. Bring a blazer in case we have a meeting/lifesize or the AC gets cranked.
fuck off massive tv screen with a camera so we can have 'face to face' meetings with the other global offices.
I hated it. And the camera followed you so you couldn't hide under the table.
It's not that bad, but doesn't serve much more of a purpose than a conference call, skype or a live text meeting
THREE people have commented on me wearing black. "oooh pretty summery in your black" "oooh it's not a day to be wearing black!!"
not really the day to be wearing black with this heat though.
(reply to my text you mimsy)
Will do in a bit
'Oh Paul, don't you have anything other than black?'
I work in a Hoxton warehouse, the air con is terrible. It's shorts or die.
i was conducting the interview for the paper round.
It's our own office attached to a warehouse.
Had a meeting in town last week and still wore shorts, mind.
Saw a goth couple on the central line on Friday. Big black boots, big black hoody - and fucking woolen fingerless gloves. Being a goth is like a job, right?
that is inexcusable
Please leave the boards
I have to go to a champagne dinner tonight for a work's thing, but it's a straight after work affair so i'm going to pop home as it's not far to freshen up/get changed. What to wear? I don't want to turn up in a ball gown. it's not that type of thing.
Plain black dress and my hair nice?
The exact wording? Is it 'black tie'/ 'formal'/ 'cocktail'?
smart/casual...I mean I'm thinking just something classic/black and a pair of heels (mostly wear heels anyway).
Hope this answers your question.
they go past my ankles though, i call them Longs
Brogues or Chelsea boots.
SHORTS? Grow up. You're not 11 any more.
they meet the middle of my knee in length
Anyone claiming this is not acceptable is just jealous (although obviously I would wear a suit if meeting a client).
lot of slobs in my office are wearing shorts and i still don't really think it's acceptable.
