ask me about any topic and i'll try and hold conversation with you
i feel a very high level of self conciousness whatever i am doing, even very drunk, and what i mean by that is that whatever i am doing i am aware that people will try and interpret what i am doing, and then change what i am doing to take that into account, and then think about the new thing i am doing (which is slightly different) and then wonder 'does this seem self concious' and it becomes a recursive loop that often means i don't speak or move
does anyone else have this problem?
sounds kinda like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dramaturgy_(sociology)
post a selfie with her
i just think that 'hot' is a subjective quantity and you should try and use as many objective factors as possible when describing someone. now that we live in the 'selfie generation' photos should be included in descriptions as much as possible. images won over words sometime in the 1970s for sure
he's right yknow (to an extent) (this could rumble on)
no one was deserving of the prize
it's a right bastard
i think that food should be sold per calorie rather than per unit item
thirsty as fuck, please PM me
going to post a selfie, because when i do that i usually get 2-3 PMs saying i look attractive
i look really anime here i feel
awww this is the cutest i've looked in a while
Listening to this now with the biggest grin on my face.
The band had four footwork dancers from Detroit with them too. Was impressive, but because of the small venue they took up most of the dance floor meaning a lot of people couldn't dance which kind of killed the vibe a bit
he's playing at latitude this weekend, which seems an interesting place for him to play. it was one of the few announcements that made me vaguely disappointed that i wasn't going this year (it's the first year in 6 that i haven't)
it's good that it went well. what was the live band set up? i think 100% of gigs would be improved by dancers and other live visuals
guitarist, bassist, drummer, vocalist...
was really great. heres footage of the band
do you know the track just after 4 mins in?
eating some yoghurt
do you like yoghurt
my arch enemy famously asks if he can have "a bit of yoghurt, to help it go down" at curry houses, so i hate it
yes...yes it is, isn't it.
you still going to the warm up on thursday
i think i'll probably go but it depends
definitely see you friday though and i presume all the other days, unless we fall out on friday
do i have your number? pm it me x
pretty sure he disinfects the toilet after every wee that I have.
will go to sleep now
cousins can be hot (not mine though)
went to the pictures like i said i would in the day thread. most i've ever spent at the pictures (£9).
also bought a juice, bottle of water and a bottle of pop and it came to £7.
can't afford to do anything nice this week now.
what film was it
it was alright. cast was alright too. the idea of it was better, though. and he SPOILER (but not really, starts before the opening credits roll) used pop culture references and songs from the time periods it was filmed in/set at good idea well done richard on your idea and following your dreams.
boyhood seems bad from a conceptual art point of view. like i think if you can say about a film is that it was filmed at the same rate as the performers aged that doesn't add much to the story; maybe it will make the film literally more realistic, visually, in terms of depicting how people who look one way change over time, but isn't a good tool to depict anything more important
i guess gimmicks can "say something" about film making, which is still an important thing to explore in films (re: limitations of the medium).
it's weird that it was started ~ 12 years ago because i think it will seem almost banal, in a few years, having your adolescence recorded. i have definitely been posting online for that period of time
you were what, 12 or 13 when you joined DiS? there's archived documentation of how you changed over that period. would it be particularly useful to go back and see HOW you changed? probably not.
i don't think linklater is particularly involved with exploring the limitations of the medium; he's more or less the opposite, seeking to extrapolate endless possibility from 2D audiovisual content and not examining the seams where it all falls apart on various theoretical or practical levels
he doesn't have to be intentionally exploring the limitations for the film to explore the limitations of the medium, though
vive le liseur
i feel that it is a factor that is majorly influencing how people feel about the film as a whole. WATCH HIM AGE ON SCREEN! no you're watching an actor age and a 160(?) minute film. if you want to really watch someone age on screen watch a live stream.
texas looked quite good.
i think the problem, for me, is that linklater is suggesting that using different actors to signify a character ageing prevents the viewer becoming fully immersed in the film. but, c.f. bertolt fucking brecht, the point is we're watching a film anyway
it seems more interesting as a technical challenge to me (i.e. the angles used for filming will have changed over time, so will the quality of the camera and other stuff - how do you take this into account while filming whilst still making a coherent movie? etc) but not something that's artistically worthwhile to me
people have cried about it though and i will probably still see it, and maybe ask a girl on a date to it, as it seems accessible and most people won't care about the artistic merit of a film
