How's your tan coming along?

shrewbie [Edit] [Delete] 43 replies 11:38, 17 July '14

What do you do about the really white bits? My belly is so white.
I've also got tan lines where my glasses go that I'm trying to get rid of.

How often do you look directly at the sun?

  • This is an indie social board no-one tans here

    marilyninthesky | 17 Jul '14, 11:39 | X
  • As always

face, arms and neck really brown. Everything else ridiculously white. I've been wearing shorts almost all summer and still... completely white legs.

    • Same here

Cycling everywhere means that I always have a killer tan on my arms and neck - however when I take my top off I look like a chess board. Fortunately my big holiday this year is to Canada, which I'm realiably informed is the land of eternal night...

      Pentago @Pegfeet | 17 Jul '14, 11:44 | X
    • my knees are really brown

  • even with my 50+ and rarely being out for prolonged periods of time (photosensitive) i've caught the sun loads recently from sitting in the car. it's weird cause someone said i'm looking more like myself, it's just cause my skin is slowly getting more dark.

    georgiabeth | 17 Jul '14, 11:42 | X
    • You look more like yourself

      !

Someone said this to me recently.

I took it to mean 'less strung-out'

      slavestate @georgiabeth | 17 Jul '14, 11:44 | X
      • baffling

i was feeling ill at work the other day (had a migraine and it was so, so humid) and someone i work with went "you really don't look like you, you must be ill"

        georgiabeth @slavestate | 17 Jul '14, 12:10 | X
  • show us your white bits

  • One day you are saying that you are naturally an olive skinned beauty (swarthy)

and the next a pasty tumtumed freak.

All I ask for is consistency.

(My T-shirt tan is coming along very will, thank you for asking)

    Balonz | 17 Jul '14, 11:46 | X
    • it's only white compared to the rest of me

probably swarthier than the average white guy's face

      shrewbie @Balonz | 17 Jul '14, 11:50 | X
  • I've got two drivers arms and legs that could cause traffic accidents.

    Ichor | 17 Jul '14, 11:52 | X
  • Not great.

I have random circles and some birkenstock tan lines on my feet

    meowington | 17 Jul '14, 11:54 | X
  • got a great dual back tan

from where I could only reach so far with cream so top half is light brown, bottom half was red now dark brown

feet are pretty good, with added birkenstock lines

    arms and legs getting there

    Slicky | 17 Jul '14, 11:56 | X
  • Brown all over from

sunbathing on my roof (only the man in the cain of the crane that is fixing eth burnt out art school building can see me. HIYA WEE JIMMIE.)

I deifnitely have some btis that are browner than others (like legs and arms that are exposed more. Oddly my back is so dark it's almost black. i don;t gte my back out all that much.)

My face is palest because i have sunscreen in my mosituriser which I put on every day.

    PickledOeuf | 17 Jul '14, 11:59 | X
    • ALL over?

      Pentago @PickledOeuf | 17 Jul '14, 12:06 | X
      • yeah

roof garden is private/ isn't looked over by other buildings nearby so it's great for sunbathing. that said. I am being stalked by a seagull. At first I ohtught it was my imagoination or a different seagull each time but my Hunni has confirmed that it is a cazse of stalking. It's as if the seaguill can hear the sound of me taking my pants off/ unhooking my bra, and WHOOSH, there he is.

        PickledOeuf @Pentago | 17 Jul '14, 12:56 | X
        • Seagull is a code word in this story right?

          Pentago @PickledOeuf | 17 Jul '14, 13:20 | X
          • CWBAFT

But no, it is an actual seagull. I'm sitting oit there now having lunch with my top off and there's no sign of him so he's probably dead.

            PickledOeuf @Pentago | 17 Jul '14, 13:31 | X
            • Wow, them's powerful breasts in that case...

              Pentago @PickledOeuf | 17 Jul '14, 13:34 | X
              • he's alive

He was there this morning, looking as if he was about to beak me (I was only partially sunbathing, I had a towel and was drying off after my shower.)

                PickledOeuf @Pentago | 18 Jul '14, 10:07 | X
    • last year I was out a lot more

and Mr S would say my back was like one of those old women who sit outside their mobile home all summer smoking, reading Best! and eating chips

      was quite pleased tbh

  • It could be better

I thought it was going great but then I met someone who'se actually been sunbathing loads and I looked like a milk bottle next to her so that's changed my mind.
REALLY HOT TODAY though might go and have a stand in the sun.

    RFWare | 17 Jul '14, 12:59 | X
  • In the sun right now!

    Fuck it's hot - 26 apparently
Been running lots so I have a well tanne head and arms and legs, and then Snow White everything else, looks a bit silly really

Every time I see someone I haven't seen for a week or so they comment on how brown I am
    In like 'yeah I know!!!!211'

    no tan

    froglet | 17 Jul '14, 23:41 | X
  • quite freckly

forehead, shoulders and arms mostly. face just has that sort of unhealthy sun damaged look to it.

    DarwinDude | 17 Jul '14, 23:43 | X
  • it's so hot right now i feel like i'm getting a tan in bed

    fappable | 17 Jul '14, 23:49 | X
  • how big is the tan differential between the top of your arms and the underneath?

mine's pretty big. dunno what to do.

    codpieceface | 17 Jul '14, 23:51 | X
    • recline on a lounger

and put your arms up over your head. That tans the undersides a bit, but really, thety don't contain as much melanin so they're never going to look the same and they're not meant to. be careful you don't burn if exposing bits of skin tat don't usually see the sun.

      PickledOeuf @codpieceface | 18 Jul '14, 10:13 | X
  • For some reason I stay the same colour all year round.

Plus, I've never really got the whole tan thing, or why anyone feels the need to have one. Especially people who wear fake tan. Just be your pasty selves damnit.

    aactv | 17 Jul '14, 23:52 | X
  • got quite burnt on my back and shoulders playing football on sunday

i've wised up and have been using sun tan lotion since. I've got a bit more colour to my face though as my mum noticed when i pointed it out to her earlier

    gonad | 17 Jul '14, 23:53 | X
  • it's 31 degrees here
