What cool things should I see and do? I like all the usual shite: music, museums, pubs and all that.
Sharmanka kinetic theatre
Cathedral and necropolis
Huntarian museum and art gallery (in Glasgow university which is worth visiting as a building in itself) http://www.gla.ac.uk/hunterian/
The Burrell collection
http://www.glasgowlife.org.uk/museums/burrell-collection/Pages/default.aspx (in a country park in the south side so may be harder to get to depending on where you're staying)
Glasgow women's library
The doors open day site for ideas. Obviously not everywhere will be open but a lot are open anyway http://glasgowdoorsopenday.com/
Also get the skinny to see gigs and exhibitions are on.
Yes, EastJets answer to the Hilton.
Should be a laugh.....

realise you've spend the whole day there
I'll probably be in there on friday night with Big Jules and possibly a BURMA.
if you see a Londoner on his own then thats me
use cockney rhyming slang to no one loudly?
they DO all look like that don't they?
and pairs of slip on vans yes
(I have a 4.30 deadline on something at work) I'll actually list some helpful stuff for you xxx
how are you going to top my suggestion? a: you cant
Ive just come bad from a couple of days in Glasgow at a conference. The conference was held at Bute Hall near the Hunterian and its really nice. Conference dinner was held at Oran Moor - this place is also pretty good, the bar downstairs is quite nice - good whiskies
oran mor is fucking terrible though
When I last met up with you for a drink was it not in *drrrrumroll* Oran Mor? (oh yeah that was my idea wasn't it as i'd been to a gig and couldnt be bothered moving.) that was about a year and a half ago, SCANDALOUS.
Oran Mor is ok, if you were there tuesday and wednesday it will have been nice. It's only truly hell at the weekend.
beer soon, somewhere less shit? :)
I may be in the state tomorrow night. I may not, but let's catch up soon, and your missus too! (I am not counting 'seeing' you two at Adam Buxton as 'seeing' you.
won't be around tomorrow but next few weeks definitely, I'll text you about football too as my tickets for the CL qualifier are going spare
you culturally oblivious MONSTER.
(Hunterian is alright innit)
DEADLY SRS http://drownedinsound.com/community/boards/social/4288406
Volcanic Tongue (if you like the more esoteric end of music and all that).
at Pivo Pivo on Friday night. It's kind of noisy ska punk stuff and alex kaparanos used to be in them. Used to, mind.
if you like the sound of a Rock'n'roll four piece from Paisley influenced by The Stone Roses and David Bowie then go to Sleazy's as Blue Honey are playing (copy pasted from The List)
A Play a Pie and a Pint is a good way to spend early afternoon in the west end. they are doing Maw Goose just now, good old scottish panto with a twist- http://www.visitscotland.com/info/events/a-play-a-pie-a-pint-maw-goose-p977811
There's aoso lots of 2014 stuff on, if you google that and 'culture' you should get a selectoin. There's an exhibition at the Lighthouse about the buidling of the athlete's village. After that you pop next door to bar soba for relaly good sushi and noodles (decent veggie stuff too if that is you0.
if you like the sound of a rock n roll four piece from paisley influenced by the stone roses and david bowie you're probably a terrible person
I am so happy you noticed!
writing the "what's on" section of the list
That wee ned that busks oasis songs outside TGI Fridays - CULTURE!
that it looks like the halt will be gone forever? They've taken the sign down and everything. From a quick peek inside it looks like its been bought by maclays inns and will be quickly gastroed/crafted then fade into mediocrity, but thats just a guess.
another bar with an authentic vintage makeover serving shite beers to rugger buggers and cunts in jeans and walking boots
plus the halt was great in a really shite way
meanwhile in the east...
WEST is moving into the halt.
I'm hopeful for this, WEST beer is tasty
- a recommendation a for a good hearty veggie breakfast somewhere not too far from queen street
- recommendation for not too awful hostels (didn't realise commonwealth games were on, everything is booked)
but am lead to believe that the food in stereo is good, it's about a 5min walk from queen street too - http://www.stereocafebar.com
Bit of a wander, but sister bar Mono is great too: http://www.monocafebar.com/
will check em out
