moist > damp > soggy > wet

right?

as in something that's moist would have less water retention than something that's damp, right?

        • but surely if you had a damp t shirt and a moist t shirt

the damp t shirt would retain more water

a moistened t shirt would be regarded as not that wet.

  • I think damp implies something just damp to the touch

whereas soggy has water in it.

If you squeeze damp, nothing comes out but if you squeeze soggy there will be liquid released.

    That's what I always say.

    • yeah this coincides with my order thanks

      fappable @keith | 8 Jul '14, 17:11 | X
  • Water retention is a woolly term in this instance.

As it usually refers to the capacity of a specific material, rather than how damp some thing feels.

    • too tired to gauge how wrong you're being here

  • my issue is mainly with the words damp and moist i think

    fappable | 8 Jul '14, 17:09 | X
    • and i think i'm right

in regards to sodden - that would come under soggy but probably more on the wet side rather than damp

      • And dogging?

        What are the exact rules?

  • saturated

    Raanraals | 8 Jul '14, 17:11 | X
  • Damp and moist indicate the same level of wetness

Just that damp implies that wetness is undesirable, whereas moist is a plus point.
Nether-regions are a case in point

  • damp before moist

moist is where you get surface wetness from touching something.
