That the entire Mario (and Nintendo) franchise is written and programmed by Japanese people. Why are the Japanese so pro-white?
"Discounting Toad and Toadette, there are indeed 12 white playable human characters. However, several are doubles of each other. For instance, Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach and Princess Daisy are all also playable in “baby” form. Since each of these characters is white, their doubles are also white."
about the lack of non-white computer game characters.
Let me know if it happens.
All Mario games should offer the option of a black palette-swap and added tits.
but I expect the reactions to that would be even more depressing than we've seen to the recent 'female characters in games' discussions
racist nintendo bastards.
"maybe they can spend some time making it a good game too"
You can feel it everywhere.
the original non-racist franchise.
Where you can be all colours, including green!
where Sonic absolutely SMASHES it
is always so realistic, progressive and inclusive
smells like one of those clickbait sites
like how they argue that the metallic versions of the characters don't count as white
Any black characters?
Can only think of Mr Game & Watch, Pokémon Black and Metal Mario when he runs down a dark corridor.
Black Metal Mario
i'd play that.
And while at their core, the few unique human characters are indeed white, they are ethnically distinct. Mario and Luigi are Italian and from New York, whereas Peach is a natural-born citizen of the Mushroom Kingdom
I see the plumbing connection, but their accents sound Italian, and they never start the games by dropping down a sewer hatch in Manhattan.
The only thing I can think of is the cartoon, and that was probably playing fast and loose with the 'lore' to appeal to Westerners.
Difficult to tell from the tone of either article if they're being tongue-in-cheek, dense, lazily generating clickbait, or a combination of the above.
are you saying that racism is an inescapable part of Japanese culture?
doesn't mean it can't be changed and shouldn't be decried...
