Why does no one get assassinated anymore?
Back in ye olden days(pre-1990's) it seemed to happen every other day. If you were president there was a 50% chance you would get assassinated before the end of your term. Celebrities were getting popped left, right and centre. Nowadays it never happens. Better Security? People channel their crazy through the internet now? Governments no longer sanction these kinds of hits? Whats the reason eh?
*levels crosshair over S_Y_B's chest, exhales*
Happens all the time
Press just don't report on it, as it encourages other would-be attackers. Loads of top US politicians have 'disappeared' over the past decade.
That *does* sound like something the press would do.
I'm always sort of amazed
that's no one's ever tried to assassinate Putin.
srsly tho
Imagine Russia without Putin.
all those iranian nuclear scientists got assassinated like 2 years ago
wow!
i was going to start this thread the otherday and then didn't
i don't know why really - people seem to want to take their issues out on joe public these days
everyone else has guns too so the world is safer
Politicians often got assassinated because of their radical ideas
None of these politicians exist anymore
Obama
Exactly
There was that Bin Laden fella
The yanks and israelis love a good assassination
They call it something else though.
think the internet MAYBE POSSIBLY
discourages a bit of skulduggery through awareness MAYBE
Happens all the time
You mean by a single lone gunman?
Because lots of Palestinian, Pakistani and Afghanistani politicians have been assassinated by various governments in air strikes and the like over the past few years.
Yeah specifically mean shot in broad daylight type stuff
by a single lone gunman(working for the goverment).
No need for that when you've got drones
Sometimes you just yearn for simpler times
y'know? Where we would all know for definite who the killer was and why he did what he did with no help from anyone else.
Sassassinated*
o - guuuuuuuurl!

/\
gun's pointing the wrong way
Because the internet has made people lazy
now they would rather troll on twitter rather than take the time out to shoot someone.
drummer lee rigby
the malaysian plane
alexander litvinenko
some tea party goon tried to assassinate that democrat senator?
reckon the farage plane crash was an attempted assassination
Is the first one an assassination?
i dont actually know what constitutes an assassination and what doesn't.
Is Litvinenko the poisoning one? That was definitely assassination.
gotta be, right? they stalked him for a while beforehand and then killed him in public
It's got to be a prominent figure/political status
Against members of the public it's just murder no matter how symbolic the victim
high ranking member of the army is definitely a political figure tbh
high ranking? its not like he was a guitarist or summat
Yeah lead guitarist for the fuesilliers
Did a guest appearance on 4 star major John M. Paxton, Jr. of the US airforces ambient drone album
Nah
The Malaysian plane?
Pull the other one.
because Im soooo good, you never guess that it is malign intervention
srsly......loads of assassinations occur nowadays
checkout mexico for example
CHECK this list, it is sobering reading
sorry to bring a downer on the thread, but it does make you wonder how brave you would have to be in local politics there
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_politicians_killed_in_the_Mexican_Drug_War
You're right
i guess i was foolishly only thinking of English speaking countries.
Check your privilege bro
but dont feel guilty....just eat your OP words
David Kelly
Wait, someone's at the door, brb
maggie thatcher
...assassinated the working class?
as·sas·si·nate (-ss-nt)
tr.v. as·sas·si·nat·ed, as·sas·si·nat·ing, as·sas·si·nates
1. To murder (a prominent person) by surprise attack, as for political reasons.
2. To destroy or injure treacherously: assassinate a rival's character.
Yup.
youd think more musicians would get assassinated
imagine if bon iver was assassinated in fromt of a sold-out audience
"Kennedy had been too young, too rich,
too hansome and too lucky; he had embodied elegance and wit and finesse. His murderer had spoken for weakness, for neurasthenic darkness, for struggle without hope and for the self-defeating passions of ignorance, and he understood those forces all too well."
Peace.
i'd guess the amount of public and private CCTV systems
has got something to do with it
Are these people really worried about being caught?
if a trail can be put together between the assassin and whoever ordered the hit
then yeah
ROSCOE: Marlon what is on your mind
MARLON: My skull Roscoe as is standard anatomy
ROSCOE: No I meant what are you thinking about
MARLON: Oh I was thinking about the topic of religion. I disagree with Justin Hawkins that God is just a big idiot and religion is just a story made up to keep everyone from robbing shops.
ROSCOE: Why is that?
MARLON: Because, Roscoe -- the HUMAN EYE!! THE AMAZING HUMAN EYE, Roscoe!!
ROSCOE: Intriguing, please elaborate.
MARLON: Do you not remember Roscoe when I got that Happy Meal -- there was a human eye in there! It was the coolest thing ever and that's why there MUST BE A GOD
ROSCOE: Yes that was cool
MARLON: Also solidifying my belief system, if you cast your mind back to the fifth season of Lost when Hurle--
(suddenly a sniper rifle bullet smashes through MARLON's head showering viscera all over the place)
ROSCOE: Oh no Roscoe has been assassinated
(MARLON comes out of a shop and looks at MARLON's corpse)
MARLON: Actually that was my identical twin uncle Armin Tamzarian
ROSCOE: Oh thank god we can still have all our adventures
MARLON: Actually for all the time you have known Marlon he was pretending to be me so all your experiences were with Armin Tamzarian
ROSCOE: Oh right
MARLON: Yes
ROSCOE: Would you like to eat his share of raw live haddock
MARLON: No that is disgusting now that I am around things are surely going to change because I am an all business successful entrepreneur
