if you can afford it
London's really really good though
Meals on Wheels?
Less interesting than it initially sounds to be honest.
he tried to eat paris but he failed
there's a World Cup on, mate
where are the moors, the wild woods, meadows of wild flowers where you can wonder, the cliffs, the crashing waves, the babbling brooks.
Where are the rugged castles, the thatched cottages, the rare birds and butterflies?
Where is the peaceful outdoor quietness?
if London wasn't so bloody tiring.
I'm sure he'll realise just how stupid he was.
I miss it and I'm long overdue a visit. But one day I woke up and realised i couldn't live there anymore and I moved somewhere better of me and have never been happier.
I don't know how people can live there forever, i found I lacked the self discipline to achieve any of balance in my life there.
Nice to hear that. I've been here for 7 years and it's doing my nut.
exactly the kind of thing i'd expect a narrow-minded Londoner to say
people understand this is an historical quote, right? I mean this isn't someone writing for Vice.
And comparatively it would likely have been true at the time (for someone with money)
as london was proportionately smaller at the time, a relatively greater number of people would have been attaching notes to carrier pigeons or whatever on which they had quilled "meh", "loldon", "doest thou take pulled porke to bed withst thou", etc.
Too hectic/tiring or not green enough. Think those might have been legitimate gripes any time in London's history.
you're literally arguing for London not being as good as people have said it is *in history*?
Fuck me, people need to get over the capital just being better, which it is, albeit only due to the fact simply because it has more resource to provide more possibilities for people in it.
it's aimed at when Wza rolls in and a few other likely sorts.
Getting in an early defence
to an imagined response
to someone who hasn't said anything yet
in a lukewarm thread
with a killer line of "it just is".
And you know what I mean. You fucking *love* a bit of capital bashing.
Just saying that the same reasons people might not have liked it then still hold up today, and today's gripes could be compared to London in the past. It being a historical quote doesn't mean I can't disagree with it.
there's arguably very few other places that comment could ring quite as true. but yes, as i said above i was attributing the past, colossal levels of London ire from various DiSers to your far more innocent comment. I am sorry x
better is a bad way to say it i think
cause like i'm really into regional folklore and king arthur and london's not really got a lot of that. but yeah the rest i agree with londons got loads of good stuff. but then all the dweebs are messing it up too which is a shame.
london's good yeah
i don'tknow what?
Samuel Johnson was a clever man but he died before the 1800s. London is a totally different beast now.
he wouldn't be familiar with its current confibularities.
Its full of boring needy cunts
If you like London, you're a pure idiot
I guess all cities have their ups and downs
but i couldn't eat a whole one
i'm going to a village fair on saturday
you don't get shit liek this in london do you?!
Yeah that's the stuff
this is like an historical quote which you know wasn't meant for today's London, you get me?
