It's Scotch egg, and any try-hard cunt/vegan who says "toast" or something equally ridiculous is deluding themselves.
that or macaroni pie.
popcorn right now.
instead of sweet n salty, it's pretty good though so i aint even mad
do you get vegetarian scotch eggs? really want a scotch egg now
They're lovely. or you can go to holland&barrett and get one :) their sausage rolls are lovely too.
the co-op do quite nice vege sausage rolls
nah. don't like them and they're so full of fat.
nah, can't remember who makes them
'CARROT, BEETROOT &
SMOKED APPLEWOOD CHEESE’
I was tempted to try it
Or cocktail sausages.
You had a scotch egg the other day too I remember you saying you felt like Keith out of the office
You big eggy div
Felt like it again.
Would still go another.
all of the crisps
They're like a toad in the hole on a stick.
Halloumi and corgette trianges
I just love snacks. love. probably more than big meals.
bloody dis food threads before lunchtime
no scotch, just the egg. I had a box which was nearing the sell by date so I just boiled them up to have as a snack in work. Works wonderfully, crack them open, peel it all back and go for it. It is like a savoury banana.
Apart from that I don't really do savoury snacks. Maybe some toast and marmite. Or a Greggs sausage roll. Or samosa? Asian corner shops often do decent ones for about 70p or so.
At a very reasonable price but they are due to go off in a week so been trying to think of ways to use them up.
They'll be fine
AND PUT THEM IN A SANDWICH. HAS TO BE WHITE BREAD AND LOTS OF REAL BUTTER.
I want this for lunch now.
cut in half; take 2 egg halfs out; put layer of branston pickle inside sausage meat shell; put egg halves back. eat.
Followed closely by salt and vinegar oddities
is my current thing
any of your friends had the meat borek?
Had so much in Montenegro.
so not that i can recall
the meat borek please?
but Dalston :/
cant you take the 'tube' or a weird overground rail vehicle?
is dalston still hip and cool? was it ever hip and cool?
I dont care, just eat borek. there must be turkish places elsewhere in Capitol City!?
BUT STILL, cba.
i think Dalston is currently considered "formerly cool", but i haven't had chance to check the official coolness billboard since this morning
rugby league results depending. if not. deffo october. deffo meet up. maybe in dalston.
you me and SJ umbi meetup 2k14 yeah
I didnt know.. not been fluent in umbi for years man.
First time I've had it in a England. It was basically chicken nuggets. I was fucking LIVID (still am).
Some place on Milton Road, since you asked.
Probably an entire cabbage dipped in batter.
cumin, garam masala, chillis, coriander seeds crushed, mix in the veg (or onion) then bind with an egg and deep fry. Serve with sauce chilli ginger garlic fried and then add tomatos/passata and chop in loads of fresh coriander leaf and stalks. unbeatable
That jelly stuff is minging and it doesn't even have an egg in it.
I don't know why people are still replying, I put the correct answer right there at the top.
but it is about half your day's calories in one go, you are still hungry afterwards and it gives me terrible heartburn.
because you an only eat like 10 at the most before feeling really full
big fan of olives, veg dipped in houmous and crisps, too.
I have no problem destroying a whole bag of cashews.
1/4 of a bag was about 125 calories. SHITTTTTTTTTTT.
(nb the next day I had a doughnut and TWO mini Waitrose pastries)
they're dead dense
both the crisps and the cooked version. mmmmmm onion rings.
I love tiger bread. mmmmm.
gonna have to
I love tofu but by god I can't cook it.
use lots of oil
to help squeeze the water out
it makes me so happy. Often, when I get in to a lift (I'm really scared of lifts) I feel much better if I have food with me. At least then if I'm stuck i can have a lift picnic.
All day long
cheese and pickle works so well.
"Kinda eager aren't you? Please wait a bit between comments." - yes, yes I am.
oh what you got to offer?
on some crusty white rolls (seriously that pate is the best munchie food)
I have some celery
I have a large toblerone (for the football today)
Waitrose's Davidstowe Cornish Quartz (which is really umami-ish)
but currently in the oven at the moment are some rather uninspiring Quorn ready meals (lasagne and cottage pie)
and i certainly don't eat mushed up mushroom shite looking pate.
I'd love a bit of your toblerone please.
and it doesnt have mushroom in it
They're merely "okay".
GET OVER IT
I mean, I love a good pork pie, but the pastry/meat ratio isn't always favourable and that weird jelly stuff is rank.
Scotch egg: egg, meat, breadcrumbs. All killer, no filler.
You put me in my place
(I'm not a massive fan of eggs. If I was I suspect they'd be the greatest thing in the world too)
the truth comes out
I'm with pn on this. Scotch eggz r less than the sum of their parts imfo. They're too dry without big stax of piccalilli, so fuckm. The best savoury snacks are: mmite on toast; pickled onion monster munch; sausage rolls; olive oil, balsamic and 'fancy' breads. But not scotch eggs. Scotch eggs can go hang.
Except black pudding scotch eggs. Those are proper wide / hard on for me.
a day of making experimental scotch eggs and eating them. it's the best
Scotch shallot/pickled onion
Scotch mozzarella ball
mix cranberry, chestnut and pancetta into the sausage meat, and a load of sage into the breadcrumbs. would be like a bite of christmas. might make that
although sausage rolls come close. Any recommended accompaniments? Likes: black pepper, mayonnaise, tommy sauce, branstons, coleslaw.
1) Slice delicious scotchy wonder in half
(proper scotch eggs only, no mushed up crap in a small ball)
2) Pop out the lovely egg-halves from their porky holders
3) Using the back of a spoon, smear some mustard or brown sauce into the meaty alcove
4) Return the eggs halves
after you reminded me of them mushed 'mini' egg monstrosities. They really get my goat. Fuck, I'm still angry.
On a more positive note, I don't think I've ever had devilled eggs, as popularised in early 20th century literature. This could be the new taste sensation I've been looking for.
Just headbutted a temp here because I was angry after thinking about those tiny, foul, pointless aberrations.
also been getting into (ie consumed half a bottle in a week) of heinz BBQ chilli sauce.. not bad for a quid.
(or just a deep fried egg) If not a scotch egg?
would you swirl the oil round and plop it in the middle (like you do with the water when you're making a poached egg)
but I have reverted to my vegetarianism. Idk.
Probs get a bag on my way home. BUT WHICH?
gods own crisps
and not Henderson's Relish flavour?
simply shortening the name..
salt n vinegar discos
but only a certain brand of marmite, can't stand the normal brand stuff.
Out of date bread, toasted, with some lurpak on top.
Fucking glorious, it is.
Bit of hummus, an olive or two, basically anything on these is fucking immense. Properly addictive
