The Three Lions™ roar at The Home of Football™
Louis Tomlinson from out of one direction wants to buy Doncaster
Inspired by repeated use of "Adam Banana" in yesterday's thread.
Referring to each other simply as 'scummers' is particularly unimaginative.
Man*insert Euro symbol here*ity
but seeing as a healthy portion of people from Liverpool hate them, and the majority of their supporters aren't from the city, people referring to Liverpool/their fans as 'the scousers' does my head in.
Cos he is pretty shit.
Johnson Jagielka Cahill Baines
and milner for sterling against anyone likely to attack us down our right (cause johnson's shit)
after Wilshere inevitably gets injured about 5 minutes into the first game.
so was rooney. Neither of them could trap an already trapped bag of mice
I can't think of any, and the idea of Johnson/walker/jones/small ing there for the next however many years isn't great :/
Casillas, Reina, De Gea.
Sergio Ramos, Piqué, Albiol, Carvajal, Juanfran, Azpilicueta, Jordi Alba.
Javi Martínez, Xavi, Xabi Alonso, Iniesta, Busquets, Koke, Cazorla, Mata, Silva, Pedro, Cesc.
Diego Costa, Villa, Torres
CUT: Carvajal, Negredo, Navas, Deulofeu, Iturraspe, Alberto Moreno, Thiago (through injury)
One season of playing like an occasionally brilliant selfish shit for Everton is hardly deserving of knocking out one of those midfielders.
there's only so many CMs a team can play at once
If Spain fielded a formation involving 10 central midfielders every game and used it to get to the final I wouldn't be hugely surprised.
He's definitely not in the squad.
one crocked striker, one old striker... and Torres.
Really hope they don't win
and all without Suarez too. just bought a house so I can put it on Uruguay winning the tournament.
even better than I expected.
I know there are loads to download but I want a big version I can stick on the kitchen wall and draw cocks on.
Don't know about the little Englisher version.
Every one of their dropped squad players would improve England's starting XI.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/27633803?live_variant=nonjs i want my license fee back
He's been so, so unlucky with injuries - I suspect he'll have to drop down to the Championship to find himself a deal, but he'll be one of the best players in the division if he can stay fit.
As you say, shame about the injuries, else he'd probably have done much better. He was absolutely pants the last couple of times I've seen him play for Wales, mind.
Something in my eye at the dad stuff.
I hope he does well wherever he goes. And that bit about his dad, and that Lightspeed Champion fella dedicating a goal to him. Lovely stuff.
Is it a positive or negative thing when players from your club don't get selected for summer international competitions?
Not sure. We've just pissed the title and League Cup, should've quite won the treble really, but we only have about three players who will play regularly for a side who ought to make it past the quarters - Zabaleta, Aguero and Silva.
pretty glad eriksen doesn't get to show off and possibly earn a move to liverpool, would like lamela and soldado to have gone and had a little holiday/recover form/regain some value,
Glad walker and townsend get to avoid the inevitable post wc england shitstorm.
Ignore form, you sort of feel dawson deserves to go to tournaments with england even if just to make up the numbers because he's a nice bloke and england still don't have too many of those.
bit worried real madrid might snap up bentaleb after he leads algeria to glory, there's no way they'll be able to afford aaron ramsey as this summers galactico.
Knockout stages for the Greeks all but guaranteed :D
Only a friendly against Portugal tonight.... oh.
Probably more interesting that Uruguay's first choice XI only beat Nothern Ireland 1-0.
according to his Wikipedia page that's 35 goals in 61 games which is pretty impressive, and from looking at Bosnia-Herzegovina's group and the draw after that I reckon they might make it to the quarter-finals so going to put a couple of quid on Dzeko to be top scorer, looking online his odds are pretty long for the Golden Boot 66/1 with most sites.
Should get qualification fairly easily (despite probably getting a bit of a thumping from Argentina), as long as the heat doesn't effect him. He has gone invisible for City in the past but still worth a punt. Hard to see past Messi or Suarez though
To be this WC's 'team who do well despite having lots of naff players (in this case Shola Ameobi) in the team'. Bosnia do have a nice flag though.
You should have said: "I think Shola 'The Mackem Slayer' Ameobi is an absolute dead cert for Golden Boot."
that Messi dude is pretty good though then there is also Neymar, Aguero and Ronaldo to factor, my predictions for how Dzeko will win golden boot... vs Argentina L3-1 Dzeko (1), vs Nigeria W 2-1 Dzeko (2), vs Iran W 5-0 Dzeko (4), Second Round vs France W 2-1 Dzeko (2), QF vs someone good L 2-1 Dzeko (1). I think 10 goals should be enough for Dzeko to the golden boot for me.
True heroes play like Greeks!
Obviously it's difficult to see past Tom Ince to Inter, but a Chelsea fan I know is adamant that Chelsea are going to put a bid in for Phil Jones. Phil Jones!
Fucking loved that.
London would ruin that boy.
make sure you're in Brazil in time for the World Cup though
*something about assists*
Dont really need him at Utd seen as Rooney sees immovable and were already playing Mata oop.
his market value is more like £40-45m, but i imagine the £30m has come from somewhere for an actual reason, probably to do with our buyback clause which is £25m.
I know you hate every player who's ever played for arsenal and not yet moved to city but he's obviously brilliant. Don't think he could fit in particularly easily into your side (or utd, chelsea or liverpool's for that matter) but the idea that any fan of those clubs could be 'gutted' if he signed for them is lol
Arsenal are only entitled to first refusal on him if he expressly states he'd like to rejoin Arsenal, and there's no pre-agreed fee. He could join any other club tomorrow and Arsenal wouldn't have any say in the matter. Not sure why football fans get so excited about them anyway, they're pretty much worthless and rarely legally-binding. I suspect he only insisted on the clause to keep the Arsenal needies from hurting themselves. If Chelsea, United, City and Arsenal were all in for him i'd be very surprised if Arsenal weren't his last choice.
I don't think the guy's shit or anything, his assists and goals record speaks for itself, he just isn't as good as Silva, Nasri, Toure or Fernandinho and as such it probably wouldn't be a wise ove for him unless one of those was leaving. If they did, sure, we'd have him, but i don't think he'd improve us, and he comes across as a pretty weak character.
There's no ideal move for him really. At City he wouldn't be guaranteed a regular place, United aren't in the Champions League, not sure he'd particularly want to play for Mourinho. Maybe Arsenal is the best move for him in ticking the most boxes, but if i was him i'd probably go to United - he'd be first choice and have little competition, and they pay higher wages than anyone else.
it's first refusal at a fixed price. That's been more or less confirmed several times, including by wenger at a press conference.
surely any player who's player 87 times for one of the greatest international sides ever, as well as averaging about 30+ games a season for one of the greatest club sides ever really isn't that bad?
seems like stories regarding FIFA break about one year after everyone else on the planet knew what was going on
Really don't think the Dutch will get through their group. They won 1-0 and should've scored more (Robben missed a sitter) but that was more down to Ghana's defence being shocking than any great incisiveness. Aside from van Persie, Robben and Sneijder, there's so little creativity either, so they ended up hoofing the ball quite a lot.
Just wait until Daryl Janmaat gets pantsed by Tommy Oar as he then hits a deflected 89th minute consolation strike to score the Socceroos' only goal of the group stage.
or do New York City FC not properly exist until March 2015?
The NYCFC manager has been shadowing Pellegrini's assistants for quite a while now. It'd be a bit daft if the players were inactive for so long, but i assume they've been signed early so the club can attract domestic players, not to mention get season tickets sold.
I actually think signing Lampard on a one-year deal would've been a relatively savvy move by City anway, both in terms of homegrown players and our lack of cover for Toure. It'd make sense if we loaned both players for six months, surely, they'd own them by proxy anyway.
until January/February. The sentimental old sap in me finds it hard to believe that'll be at City, but we'll see soon enough I suppose.
Perhaps it's just a pretty clever marketing tool - quickly earn pockets of support in important territories, etc. Flogging them loads of non-existant services hasn't really cut it with UEFA, and they're facing some opposition at already-established clubs, and land issues in New York. Might be to hugely abuse the loan system as Chelsea have had some joy with of late. I'm kinda hoping it's just a crafty backup plan to dodge FFP and we start flogging the likes of Richard Wright for tens of millions of pounds.
of the 34+ yr old pro's who go to the mls to wind down their careers
But this is Lampard, in New York city, with nothing to do for 9 months. Without football, he'd be the size of an African elephant by the time pre-season got under way.
Though I suspect he's not alone there.
Wonder if Deschamps is regretting shunning Nasri yet.
Goals from Lukaku and Hazard. Trounced Luxembourg 5-1 last week too.
It's looking good for de Rode Duivels.
An incredibly bad game of football apparently
Quite happy with that, roll on the big contest!
Desert Foxes look set to silence the doubters!
can't be doing with this and i've got LOADS to discuss.
