is this common? just wondering.
don't think it does a great deal of harm, so long as you don't end up needing it to relax, which is almost certainly guaranteed to happen.
Went through a stage of drinking almost everyday, just a couple of relaxing cans in the week and a good few at the weekends. Really cut back on the midweek drinking unless I'm going somewhere. Still do the weekends though.
Do it in style
drinking 1/2 to a full bottle 3 or 4 nights on the trot (weekdays) but I do try to curb it because a) it feels unhealthy and b) my bf gives me the side eye (he only drinks cider and hardly ever during the week)
Can we have an subthread about nice wines for proper amateurs:
I've always go for French & Italian wines and mostly bordeaux wines because I pretty much always like them, however I've had a few bottles Argentinian malbec and I thought they were delicious. I have tried other new world wines and not liked them as much but I've just discovered that malbec are used in bordeaux wines so that could be why I like it? Does anyone know? Am I talking shit?
got to like rioja!
it will be class.
faugères, corbières, minervois, saint-chinian...
All that unfashionable, rather brutal southern wine
Chianti or tempranillo perhaps.
If i am spending anything over £10 i will always buy french and generally from bordeuax, Margauux, st emillion or a paulliac.
I also like red from burgundy like a nice volnay, yum!
I'm gonna buy some wine tonight.
it gives me migraine, so i need to avoid sangiovese grape. I lvoe barolo and amarone though, even valpolicella and montepulciano.
french is best though.
But if i'm spending that much i'll go french
those which aren't horribly expensive taste like earth
I also like that wine that comes in a canvas bag
But really I'll drink anything, Chiraz bottom of the list. Red only, mind.
I also have a superstition about having wines from years ending in odd numbers, clearly an expert move.
"I know doctors say you should drink a glass and half but I just can't drink that much"
But then I realised my wine glasses can hold half a bottle so it got a bit easier.
I couldn't do it with red, which I do like, but it's generally stronger. I drink a fair bit of white wine. maybe a bottle 2 nights in the week and god only knows how much at the weekend. it's really unhealthy, but, no, it's just really unhealthy. tastes nice though.
And a bottle of wine usually has at least 10. It also has about 600-700 calories, which is effectively like eating an extra meal every day.
do you mean the advice is to drink this much every day?
It was 2 for a fiver from the local off licence, and it was almost palatable stuff too. Who could resist?
Can't recommend it.
I have to wear ox blood lipstick the next day to hide the lip stains!
when I've been drinking that much red wine
I worked pretty much on my own in a job I could've done in my sleep. So long as you remember to scrub the red wine gunk off your teeth, lips and tongue you're good to go.
is gonna make it any better. The fact you've posted this probably shows that you know it's a bad idea.
i'm just nosing about somebody else's business
that you're doing it continuously, in small sips, from the moment you wake up to the second you go to bed
thread is not about me btw
...if your name is Bridget Jones.
It wouldn't be healthy for me to do on a regular basis. I tend ot make a bottle of red last me a few days- if I'#ve used it in cooking it'll generally last me two dinners worthn of drinking, but if I've been on takeaway or not using it in cooking then I sobuld get three days out of a bottle. except for weekends where I start at noon and finish at 3am and can easily get through a couple of bottles, especially if I'm sditting at home watching football and boxing and stuff. It's so easy to knock back a few glasses with lunch, whilst cooking dinner, with dinner and then ohhh another couple of glasses after dinner.
The focus is 'dinner' tohugh. It's always so much better with food for some reason.
I've stopped drinking wine in the pub because of that and the fact it makes me lairy and then sleepy.
also I'd probably be pretty krunk from a bottle of wine.
