Been any medical breakthroughs in the last couple of years? Because I can't be arsed making a doctors appointment unless he's got something a bit special to pimp.

Apart from that we can just cry about our forthcoming ruined summer in this thread.

  • I normally only get it in April/May time

Except this year I haven't had it at all yet, haven't even been taking any antihistamines. Is it possible to just get over it?

    Smyth2 | 19 May '14, 08:51 | X
    • same here

please let me just have gotten over it

      Elaina_Casoolare @Smyth2 | 19 May '14, 09:00 | X
    • I think you can kind of grow out of it

I used to have it really bad as a little kid but the last few years haven't been too bad at all. Still take a pill a day to take the edge of and I'm pretty much fine.

      NickDS @Smyth2 | 19 May '14, 09:03 | X
      • I grew out of it

        then grew back in again.

Pollen's a twat. Do we really need it?

    • I had a year off last year for some reason

back with a fuckin' vengeance in 2014 though.

      Fuck you pollen.

      colossalhorse @Smyth2 | 19 May '14, 09:15 | X
    • mine usually kicks in on the 1st April

but it's been six weeks late this year.

I've had some years when it hasn't been a problem, and some when it's been really bad - I work next to a park and last year I was on two or three antihistamines a day at one point and still suffering.

I guess it just depends on what specific thing you're allergic to and how much of that is around in a given year?

      • I started getting like itchy skin things (hives??) and stuff

        last year

        zxcvbnm- @guntrip | 19 May '14, 09:18 | X
        • ugh

I get something similar, the skin on my hands gets all peel-y. it's doing it a little bit at the moment.

          guntrip @zxcvbnm- | 19 May '14, 09:27 | X
  • I went to the quacks to get some stronger pills last year

He gave me one of those sprays you stick up your nose too, that's like an atomic bomb on all pollen or something, one whack on that baby I'm good for the day easily.
Don't think there's much else fancy they can give out. Except maybe eye drops ooh glamour.

  • I had a really insane bout of it about a month ago

Went to the pharmacy and asked what was new in the world of snot-relief and they gave me a little bottle that looks like an eyedropper that sprays minty cellulose powder into your nostril. Was dubious but it's the best thing I've ever used - one blast first thing in the morning and you're done. Try that

  • I got hayfever early this year

beginning of April. I guess that means I'm now susceptible to tree pollen as well as the grass and flowery stuff? I also found out last summer that if I don't take any antihistamines (was trying out nasal sprays instead), that I have extreme reaction to insect bites. I might just stay in all this summer. I'm essentially allergic to going outside.

Also put clean sheets on last night just to make Sunday dread, Monday morning a little bit more bearable, got in ready to go mmm but instead started sneezing. Obviously got covered in pollen while drying on the line (my own fault I've been warned about that)

Off to get Lucien's nasal spray

Got it from the GP last year (prescription-only steroid you inhale through your nose) and it has reclaimed the April-July period for me. Eyes still get a bit itchy, but I cal live with that using eye drops. Do it, see the doctor!
