yes, horrified Disers, that includes mushrooms, which I barely bother to inspect for dirt. Having said that, the vegetables are pretty clean at the supermarkets where I shop.
NB: I'm fully aware that you don't wash mushrooms as such. I don't even wipe or peel* them either, unless you consider brushing your thumb against a particularly large clump of dirt to be wiping.
*the idea of peeling mushrooms leaves me completely nonplussed.
unless there's very visable dirt I don't bother. Don't think I've ever washed an apple or anything like that in my entire life.
what's the point in trying to clean disgusting fungus?
only exception is possibly leeks. they're always a bit dirty down in the crevices.
Dubious about any pestsicide concerns, but they're a good carrier of E.Coli: don't fancy that.
Fruit? never wash fruit.
Don't even peel carrots.
Should be made to do so stood in a queue to highlight their dallying. Just stick it in the pan already.
hang on, you need to peel some stuff.
go wash a grape
*chomps on unpeeled orange, smiles through the tears*
when they're proper grimy at the bottom. nothing else. helps your immune system or something probably
i don't want to have to make any of you look as stupid as i did in the last thread that we talked about this
