Back at work. Do no want.
Did any drama go down in the week or whatever I was away? How is everyone?
Had a pure pish nights sleep and so cannot be fucked with today
had Friday off last week too and still not long enough a break. have a sort of appraisal meeting today (we do appraisals in a really over complicated and non transparent way here) which is going to go badly, have a fuckload of work to do before then that's all super urgent and have a TWO HOUR phone meeting to fit in somewhere.
really need to work on my cv and get the fuck out of this job ASAP.
But I just wanted to share with you all that I was stuck alone in a lift for 40 minutes this morning. Usually not a pleasant experience, but it meant I had some free time to read DiS, which I haven't been able to do properly for a while. Ups and downs.
Do not want to be at work. Standard.
What do I do?
I've made coffee so far and just stared into the distance.
Also obvs I've opened the packet of "Plazma" biscuits I brought back.
get tae falkirk
i am absolutely goosed. epic weekend of drinking and football and not sleeping. feel like i regressed for three days. was fun though.
I slept for one hour on saturday night. i still suffer.
Today is my Monday, but also my Friday as I'm off to Cyprus tomorrow for a few days for a mate's wedding. Excellent.
Played golf yesterday, did alright, boozing it up Saturday and Sunday night, sorted some stuff in the garden. Good weekend.
Posting this on mobile now though as new desk means several people can see my screen. :(
I had a pretty awesome weekend.
Saturday - Brixton Windmill, saw Tim Kasher and a bunch of other musicians including Travis Waltons featuring our very own xylopwn - who is of course a very nice chap. Kasher was awesome and one of the best and most entertaining shows I've seen by just one guy on stage.
Sunday - party and bbq in New Cross
Monday - bbq at mine and Hold Steady at Bush Hall who were also fantasic, lots of sweaty jumping around/singalong action.
got a honduras shiny this morning, bangarang
went to the spanish food festival on southbank this weekend, parp, far too busy, zero atmosphere, sacked it off quickly
watched behind the candelabra saturday, amazing film, douglas is incredible
all these 4 day weeks are spoiling me
First time since having it highlighted on Friday and FUCK NME, it is very bvlonde. I might need to wear a hat until it calms down a wee bit.
I'm quite sleepy. Coffee time. I'm also hungry but I'll pick up some kind of disgusting fried animal part in a roll to eat on my way to teh train station for my meetings in an hour.
because I ate pizza 8 days out of 9 on holiday :(
But I want fried animal dammit.
And one for next year.
Meant yesterday was a woozy tingly haze, just drank and ate everything I could find to try and get right. Feel a bit better now.
Just going to power through this next week though I should be flat hunting. Off to London to see some mates next weekend, gonna travel in style (Megabus) so got that and a coffee to keep me going this morn.
Pretty much inconsolable this morning, taken the rest of the week off work as in no fit state to work on my project.
I wish all weekends lasted three days :'''(
and drank for the first time in 3 weeks. i'm a rubbish drunk, O danced foolishly, stripped an irish man naked on the dance floor and lost a shoe. Why do i bother.
Band practice tonight. Really cn't be arsed. Also been asked to do something at work and i'm trying not to feel like it's going against all my morals.
I was so drunk I got on EIGHT night buses on the way home.
Let's do it again.
was right next to a stop where I could have got ONE bus all the way home. What the complete fuck?
we ended up at 12 bar i think...???? You were lots of fun, we need to do it again.
feel rotten. ROTTEN I TELL YOU.
Specifically what was the weather like?
Weather was one day pissing down, the next day really hot and bright sunshine. All the locals said the rain was very unusual for this time of year and that from today onwards sunshine was forecast for like the rest of the month, hah.
I don't want to bore everyone with my exact itinerary but if you're planning on going I'd be more than happy to PM you with recommendations or whatever.
yeah I've thought about going there...the thing about the weather is more to see if it would be too hot for me at this time of year cause im allergic to strong sunlight. autumn would probably be better for me I reckon.
and I have ginger hair and blue eyes fuck my life
Podgorica is apparently Europe's hottest capital city, if that helps. I got slightly sunburnt on one of the hot days so I'd probably stay clear of the summer months.
good weather to boot - nice weekend...
Drama is kicking off here:
Gruelling day thus far but alas three day resistor me as I'm seeing future islands on Thursday and booked Friday off.
Feel all dry and spotty from weekend decadence.
Going to City Hall this afternoon. I've got myself in too deep man.
Thanks. It was so good. Perast was probably a highlight, such a beautiful place and it was the hottest day of our holiday when we decided to go there. Just endless cafes on the shore and wonderful views. The sea was a bit too cold to go swimming though.
Played some football. Won. Got sunburnt.
Played some more tennis. Lost.
Went to see some otters. Won. Got sunburnt again.
like they're a Saturday :(
Saw Bob Log III, he was ridiculous. Also saw The Sonics last night, so happy I've seen them now. Also went on a loooong walk yesterday and found a hill that overlooks all of Brighton. I feel great today.
I'm gonna have a right binge today, feel like really abusing myself nutritionally.
ate a lot of pizza and drank a lot of beer which was grand but didn't really get done any of the real things i wanted to get done. opened some projects and looked at them for a while before just fucking about doing something else.
did tidy and clean my entire flat though.
am on the 'give a fuck truck' a bit already.
That said, I'm getting things done quicker because I have no fear about shutting down or telling people when they're being a pillock.
(to leave I mean, and you're going to work for your pal, right? Did it all work out?)
no - got nothing solid in line next. :/
(hope you had an awesome trip!)
and I couldn't get to sleep afterwards for poking at my exposed tooth hole with my tongue. Tired.
On the plus side I set 23 litres of Mexican Cerveza off brewing yesterday. Looking forward to that becoming drinkable.
This morning's dragging.
I don't have to do the thing after work I thought I had to do, so I get the house to myself tonight. Just me and a massive frozen pizza. And Game of Thrones/Mad Men/online Netrunner.
Can't wait. Is it home time yet?
but I'm off Thursday as this parochial country still celebrates giving the Hun a good whupping back in '45 (VE Day).
Had a relatively calm weekend. Stayed away from badly lit dancefloors full of addled youth, for one. Went to Ikea. Cooked. Couldn't be arsed to go see Okkyung Lee on Sunday nor Smoke Jaguar last night, oops.
Need to handle a few things like tax and social security this week, mega urgh.
The girl I was supposed to go on a date with on Sunday stood me up, she's continuing to toy with me like a cat does with a mouse. I love this and hate this all at once.
And Kassem Mosse on Saturday double whoop.
Need to move and live alone.
then a bridesmaids/groomsmen's day out in brighton, a telly/films day then a wandering in the east end pubs/food day.
i have june madrona playing at my place of work this evening, which makes everything ok.
Hope you're okay.
terrified of our rent rising in a couple of months when our contract will have to be renewed. our landlord's an alright guy and we've been no bother to him so i'm hoping he might not bother...
but that's kind of the point, isn't it? I wish it was just a five year thing. Out of the following areas of unwanted hair, which do you think is the most unlikely to come into fashion in my life time:
Bikini line (including area between the v&a)
The wife and me invested in a home use one, would recommend it.
oh lord that made me go all cold with fear
girlfriend and i went to Stag & Dagger in Glasgow on Sunday. saw The Districts (really good despite the shit name), The Hold Steady (YAY), Los Campesinos! (YAY), Albert Hammond Jr (really good, dunno why The Strokes are fronted by that other guy) and Tennis (lovely).
Stayed overnight (Easyhotel, no window, £19, bargain) and spent the day there yesterday. Gave my girlfriend a tour of the city centre, went to Monorail, tried to go up to the viewing platform at the Lighthouse but it was closed (BOO), then went to watch some laughably terrible John Barrowman quiz show being filmed at the BBC studios. His fanbase involves a lot of older women. They've got the right idea though, when I'm old I'm just gonna go to every free TV taping I can.
Came back last night and saw the original Godzilla from 1954 at the Cameo. It was great! Really atmospheric and a lot of fun. The effects have held up surprisingly well, considering Godzilla was a man in a suit stomping on scale models.
Now the girlfriend has left, and I have almost no work for the next two weeks :'(
Gonna have an Honest Burger beforehand. Don't think I'd make it past lunch today if I didn't have that to look forward to.
First time in ages as well. I blame going back to meat for the first time in 9 months. Makes working uncomfortable, I'll have some more water and keep you guys posted.
or dried apriocots
was surprisingly nice
i bet you had a fantastic time. recommendable?
i am lying in bed in pain. i went on a 17km run around lower austria on sunday and i've fucked my ankle :'-( people at work are probably all hating me.
maybe i'll start a thread about how to buy new trainers, having put it off for months i really need some now. does anyone on dis run?
Everytime I see your name on here my heart does a little yelp of joy, I won't lie.
Yeah, it was completely wonderful. I adore that part of the world. Podgorica > Lake Skadar > Budva > Kotor > Dubrovnik is an *excellent* week away packed with every sort of thing you'd wanna do on holiday.
My boyfriend started running just before Christmas and did his first 10k a couple of months ago, started training for a half marathon and then immediately did some crappy damage to his knee and he's not been running for about a month because of it and he went to Runners World or whatever to get properly fitted for running shoes so in summary IDK :/
i love dubrovnik and croatia in general, i think it's beautiful, and i want to visit that part of europe again soon.
ergh boo :-( i feel mega pathetic but i didn't train properly so i probably deserve this injury AND i should really be thankful i haven't done anything worse. i wanna do a half marathon in sept but the amount of pain i am in is telling me i should be sensible about this shit. you know?
but met someone who drove about Montenegro / Albania / Serbia / Bosnia by himself and it made me regret immediately that we didn't hire one cos some of the places we wanted to go were quite inaccessible unless you did have one :/ ah well. next time, RIGHT?
It's not pathetic tbh. Isn't it something to do with your fitness (ie heart / lungs) being able to run more / faster but it takes a while for your actual body (so legs and shit) to catch up?
and hmm, yeah that sounds sensible. but mega frustrating.
Trainers are only part of the story. You need to train sensibly. Technique is important too. Lengthen your stride which will help you to maximise efficiency, try and be light on your feet rather than slamming the pavement. Doing 17k without any training (I don't know if that's the case but you made it sound that way) is a lot, you're only 4k off a half marathon.
There's an ongoing debate re:thick/thin soles. I'm going to shift to thins on my next pair of running shoes but I'm aware that I'll need to readapt and change how I run if I don't want to do myself a mischief
i trained for a 10km! but it was that wings for life run where you run as far as you can before the car catches up with you and i obviously didn't want to stop before i needed to. i never ever thought i'd run that far, i thought 12km at the most. and at the time i didn't even consider that i was doing myself harm, it was only when i stopped running and walked for a bit i was like "....hmm...oh...um...ouch?"
my trainers are about 9 years old and i know next to nothing about how to go about buying a new pair.
and yes, sensible training starts when i'm back on my feet in my new shoes.
Just sorted my flights
looking forward. i'll pick out a cracking wine tavern and send you all my "visiting vienna" info too. it'll be swell.
it's probably more important than whether you overpronate or not
i thought running was simple. just put on your trainers and go. what's all this gubbins?
forefoot and heel strikers put different pressures on different parts of your body. Worth knowing what you are so you can avoid injury
Ruby is off the rails.
Does anyone else get that? the 'controversial' thread keeping appearing and dissappearing, with different numbers of posts each time?
Mates birthday in Crouch End on Friday. Stayed out late and danced to records.
Saw Tim Kasher on Saturday. Like someone said above, real entertaining for one guy.
Put on Tangled Hair on Sunday. I miss seeing them all the time, really really tight.
Reviewing The Hold Steady from yesterday after I get back from work. Probably one of the best gigs I've been to in ages. Craig without a guitar works well.
Tomorrow is band practice. Thursday I go and see The Punk Singer at a cinema in Shoreditch and I'm off work Friday for The Alternative Escape. Dead good week, but this hangover thing is worrying me for two large all dayers.
Alright Jon Bon Jovi.
Watching classic Simpsons then gonna watch Harry potter and the goblet of fire
feel all grimy
Tucking overtime today so tired. Just want to go to bed and play wind waker but need to finish a dis review
the cleaners came round for spring clean and did an absolutely amazing job, might not bother with plates and just eat my dinner off the kitchen surfaces later.
Oh I also bought a comic called Uber which is based on an alternate version of world war II where the Nazi's acquire a technology that turns people into superhumans it's sort of like outpost without the undead aspect I guess. Thoroughly entertaining though.
was really nervous but dont worry i made it though ok
Pizza in the oven, beer chilling in the freezer, Game of Thrones paused and ready to begin when the pizza's ready... and my friend who lives next door knocks on the door because she's locked out.
I've just sat semi-(lol)awkwardly chatting away in my ridiculous shorts letting my pizza burn to a crisp until someone came to let her in. And obviously I mentioned the war (she's German).
But lounging shorts. They're green and have pink flowers on them. And I'm wearing socks.
