Listen to the chorus. Someone tell alcxxk
except we are all mexicans so how does that work
we're not at all mexican, and that video does fall foul of "your fave* is problematic" style criticisms of cultural appropriation, and that has not occurred to me before and is a valid criticism. i'd like to apologise for anyone offended by it.
*we're noone's faves
taking over an island
Okay, so I was expecting you to post a link because when I searched I didn't find anything with Mexicans in.
and sounds a tiny bit like break bones by internet forever for sure, but that's a pretty facile song anyway
on the behalf of the band internet forever, i'd like to thank you for having any memory that we ever existed
and I really liked the song but I can't remember what it was called :(
if it was an actual "video" video rather than live, it was probably Break Bones, but possibly Cover The Walls or our ill-fated attempt to drum up very late interest in the album, White Light Collision Course
internet forever are not
our song, Break Bones, and its video:
in which we dress in dia de los muertos inspired costumes, which some people consider to be akin to blackface etc
Isn't the festival open to anyone, though? I mean, the dressing up for the day of the dead thing. Although maybe the sombrero is a bit dodge. Interesting.
in retrospect, yes, it's entirely benignly intended, but adds to the general weight of white colonialist appropriation and othering of other cultures, and whilst i'm not going to cry myself to sleep about it, it's a valid criticism and one i'll try to act on in future when people tell me to dress up in a music video (unlikely to happen now as i'm old and fat)
i can see it already
I've a couple of your records at home (Cover The Walls and Break Bones). Well done for producing music that I liked enough to pay for.
and thanks :)
I play the drums
we did an album after those singles where we put a lot of effort into the production, which we were very happy with but seemed to bypass what people actually liked about us anyway:
What can I say, we're a bunch of twats!
(which I am also in)
that her parents are splitting up as of the evening of May 4th, and that if you live in london or cardiff you can see us be a very good live band on friday (london, monarch, 8:30, free) or sunday (cardiff, gwdihw, 5:00, £6-but-lots-of-other-bands)
although we've never met up... have we? Guys?
Not sure how I missed it
was one of my favourites of 2012, and Break Bones one of my favourite songs of that year
and the overhaul of Break Bones was masterful.
indie points for me. Obviously was disgusted with myself when i found out i was donating money so alcxxk could sit around on DiS all day living the good life.
you should be ashamed of yourselves, internet forever
I hear they were even more racist than Avril Lavigne
