what's some of your favourite old(er) games? Basically anything pre-dating PS3/Xbox 360.
in assembly we used to take it in turns to say the word "jobby", getting louder every time, until someone had to shout it out and got into trouble.
everyone who played this in school has an obligation to introduce this into their corresponding office spaces, okay y'all.
two players stand on opposite sides of the road and fling a ball at the kerb.
if it hits the kerb and bounces back you get points, and then go to the middle of the road and try again for half points. if you miss and your opponent grabs the ball, they try and fling it at you while you run back to your kerb.
no one seems to talk about it in Edinburgh... unless, are you from Edinburgh? In which case I stand corrected.
I'm from fife
maybe it's everywhere but Edinburgh or I just had a crap childhood :(
I guess in edinburgh it was more polo and lacrosse?
those wee potato things?
Yiv been in the weege too long neebur.
better yet when you got the elusive double kerby
or red rover
which one was the one when you all piled dangerously on top of each other?
also, what's the time mr wolf?, chocolate fudge and polo. I can't even remember how you actually play any of these but they were good fun.
I was just going to say that it wasn't that dangerous until I remembered I broke my arm being on the bottom of one.
but involved piling on each other - think it might have been British Bulldog or something
that happened to a friend of mine, you could see the bone pusing a massive bump on his arm, someone there said 'its just dislocated, lay it on the ground and I will stamp it back into place' luckily they didnt listen to him
and they were bundles, anyway
to give it it's proper imperial title is the mixed martial arts of playground games.
seeings as this has gone on a non computer game tangent, my year at school came up with the ingenious "figure of 8 mate" basically a demolition derby for bikes, riding round a figure of 8 on a playing field, everyone had to swap bikes before hand so that no one held back
jump over a burn
thank you ;)
I should start reading threads before I post in them. don't want to look like a ◼
here, we can make a sub-thread about what the actual thread was supposed to be about.
I'm back playing Spyro again (PS1 versions, not crap Skylanders pish) and it's always enjoyable.
Always have a soft spot for the Tomb Raider games even though they are sometimes hard as fuck.
And Ocarina of Time is of course always a classic.
the whole save feature and slowing down/speeding up/going back/going forward in time thing kind of let it down a bit but it maybe deserves a second chance.
One of the best Zelda games! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tI_Wx1NfJ8U
but then I'm not sure iwant to invest 40+ hours into a game I've completed four times when I have others I haven't even played sat on my shelf.
of course, I say this while a few races into the career mode on super monaco gp, which I've completed hundreds of times.
(might return to it)
I've just remembered that I'm quite sure I named one of the characters Roscoe, and two of them Marlon (or vice versa)
most of my character names are terrifyingly stupid. also find it inexplicably hilarious to call them really boring things like Dave or Barry or Steve or whatever
that was less than a month ago.
I miss the days when threads hadn't been done 45 times before :(
Earthworm Jim is solid without a control pad.
this is incredible
why did no one link to this when I was unemployed
noise_ramones, I think it was you who was in that other thread mentioning it as well! YOUSE GOTS TO SEE THIS
can you save on this site?
and get a Chrono trigger rom. Its way better than doing it on a browser.
Played it a few years back on the zsnes and it was still a brilliant game - short for an rpg by today's standards, but story was solid
actually think I've got a snes one
maybe I deleted it
I'll look to see if I deleted it soon, and if I didn't I will download the chrono trigger rom, and if I did I will eventually download the emulator again and then download the chrono trigger rom afterwards
what will happen then? who can say?
I used to have a SNES emulator ages ago, but I can imagine leading myself to loads of dodgy dead-end sites nowadays.
Reckon I'll give it a go when I fancy playing Chrono Trigger.
On that note, anyone played Earthbound? Is that easy to get ahold of in ROM form? And I've had an embryo of an idea for a game in that sort of vein, and I'm also wondering what the hell decent free engines are available for relative novices.
But that last one's probably an insane question to ask of anyone.
but i cant remember what it was like
got my controller set up with some key mapping thing so I can use it on this, so good
couldn't even do the first boss ffs :D
and they played wank race in their tents. they had to spunk over a piece of newspaper and then peg it to the gazebo when they'd finished. One guy apparently just came out naked covered in spuff. Also the wind blew and spunk flew everywhere. Not really a mate anymore tbf
Actually, on second thoughts..
and it was of a naked guy in his tent covered in food
I started playing Fate of Atlantis today
Today is such a lazy day
playing Tetris and Super Mario Land (1 & 2)
going to play that now
YOU NEED TO BUILD A LAIR FOR YOUR CREATURES
A PRISONER HAS DIED AND RISEN AS A SKELETON
YOUR GRAVEYARD IS NOT BIG ENOUGH
I still think this is the best Mario Kart out of any of the ones that have been released.
Demolition Derby on PC (was also on PS1). Loved this game, was kind of realistic, but was mega fun smashing other cars.
Most of those adventure games were amazing.
'Titanic: Adventure out of time' on line
apparently was an old CD rom game. I'd never heard of it?
I still have my Snes and N64 set up for random nostalgia purposes.
Castle of Illusion
Michael Jackson's Moonwalker
Sonic the Hedgehog
Streets of Rage
Metal Gear Solid
FFVI / FFVII / FFVIII
TONY HAWK'S PRO SKATER
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
that game is TOUGH.
because Abes Exodus is THE SHIT, probably better than the first.
Then later on Super Smash Bros Melee (but also for about a gazillion hours over the course of 10 years)
Also pro evolution 4-6, particularly international tournaments. Nigeria, all attack. Fastest national team in those games I think. Also I remember playing as Mexico lots with a 7 man midfield and Borgetti up front by himself. Classic.
possibly 6, can't remember, was awesome. played that so much it was ridiculous, despite being a bit rubbish so usually relied on defending bravely and counter attacking. usually picked Italy for their awesome defence and because Luca Toni was really good up front. Holland were also good for the give it to Robben > cut inside > shoot > score tactic.
all that lucas arts point and click stuff. Loved those type of games going back to Return To Zork.
Speedball Brutal Deluxe though, that was amazing:
Sydicate was also great. Addicted to taking over people's minds:
Was pretty into Ultima 8 too:
This is ignoring how much I loved FFVII though, which is the greatest oldskool game.
Did you get a bit shirty with Fidel?
and there's nothing bad in it so I don't know why it's disappeared.
played in the history room with an overhead projector
In the Year 8 common room someone wrote on the condensation "Rape Daniel (me) for 20p" :-/
the original Quake was great, really dark.
The Neverhood's probably my all time favourite.
