nice day today innit
is a bit awful, isn't it?
lovely day, yes.
Don't think it's that helpful to think of countries as being "more sexist" than each other. Obviously newspapers want to present it that way though.
They like league tables.
warny just wanted a sexist league table.
you can understand why it would be more 'visible' than india for example
We're going to need someone else to step in and tell us we're a bunch of sniffs shortly after the 200th reply. Volunteers?
's reputation as a boys' club has improved due to the success of the England women's team... there are still steps to be taken to improve the profile of women's sport in general though.
and I can't see that changing any time soon.
Anything it says can be pretty much ignored, including this.
the world economic forum ranked England above both India, Italy, Algeria and Croatia in a combined scale that took into account women having access to education, political participation, healthcare and economic participation
In fairness I realize this is only part of the story since the UN representative was talking about specifically about visible sexism which is far less simple to quantify but it does make me wonder why there's such a discrepancy between the sort of visible sexism she uncovered in her report and the actual gender gap.
"when women propose, only 30% 'go down'."
but this guy...........
this guy is a hero
I thought that site had been taken down though? Damn lying LME news.
don't bring it in here =(
Lots and lots of sexism against men. It's so commonplace that I don't even think they know they're doing it.
but I am bothered by the flowers thing....I love flowers more than 90% of women (probably) and yet my mum has never brought me any :(
(or less women are attracted to be tory mps)
It may be that it is not England being more sexist than scotland, just that england is more under the burden of the tories.
I thought the ops statement was ridiculous, because I have seen other some other cultures sexism......but then I realised that I am in a bubble, of less sexism, in my family, and (mostly) in my work (IT professionals who do not give sexism a look in.....because women are just as capable as men....and this is largely aknowledged in this industry..........however I am aware of being in a bubble........objectification ads and marketing and the medias love of using photos to sell themselves, make an uncomfortable lump in my life..........also Mrs Knees is in the process of her 3rd claim against Birmingham City Council who willfully paid women workers less than male counterparts, when faced with the evidence of this, rather than trying to clean up their act (on a matter of principle) they employed huge legal resources and prevaricated, the most appalling thing about this is that the council has all flavours of politicians, so you would have though that some of them would be shame faced about the discrimination and action against (mostly really lowly paid and inexpensive) women
dragging their feet so much about something that should be near the top of their concerns, something that they should be trying to eradicate in the private sector too.......i mean they are involved in the legal system and its not just unlawful but CAN also be criminal to discriminate
I never really understand why this is an issue in itself.
i don't think you will understand the reasons for why i think it's a shameful statistic - probs best not to worry about it
I didnt have you down as a tory chris.
not me specifically
Its CG and his ilk what should be ashamed, unfortunately many tories are shameless......they seem to think its a weakness, having self doubt or self deprecation, whereas reasonable people like you are more than ready to show reasonableness with your language.
#1 in something and everyone still finds a reason to complain about it
On the sexist phrases we have coined. Like do Algeria have comparable "put the kettle on sweetheart" sexist phrase? I doubt it. Top of the league!
It just gets done.
Responding to an article about sexism by being racist. Nice.
