perhaps Maria Miller, former culture secretary and member of the Conservative party who historically represent the interests of the better-off in society, might have also claimed expenses for bottles of vintage champagne and 'duck moats'.
It was a wry witticism relating to the out of touch and upper-class nature of the Tory party, as well as to the previous scandal of MPs claiming expenses for such items.
of which I quipped many times that he looks not like a human, but more like a monkey or ape. This was a barbed comment about his lack of intelligence and unsophisticated handling of home and foreign affairs as well as his clumsy performance on many occasions in PR situations.
At one point I may have, as an adjunct, said that Tony Blair was his 'poodle'. This was particularly wry because of Blair's poodle-like hair style as well as his fawning demeanor.
