I think this is a Social Board Question.
(Unless you count the audience as one of its parts I suppose, in which case it's exactly the sum of its parts - theoretically good music, very amateur organisation, and more cunts in one narrow geographical area than you'd expect to encounter in a lifetime)
Is it proper indie bedwetter/ hipster country?
than paying any attention to the music being played
Doesn't stop everyone fucking whingeing though. I've been the last 4 years running and will happily continue going, the lineup's just too strong to miss out on.
Yes it's cramped, yes it'll take a while to get a beer or have a piss, yes it's full of people who are either actual dickheads or will become dickheads by virtue of being at festival and/or being in close proximity to you ... But it's a sodding festival. You already know if you're going to be able to enjoy yourself. Every one does.
It's worth being reminded of it.
It's like V times 69!!!
Second one a bit too rainy. Haven't been back, but I can imagine having a good time if I did.
because my mate who lived round the corner smuggled a load of booze in.
If not for that... it would've been a long, long day.
and did the first have a hairy chest?
I think the fact that I wasn't even really that bothered by the torrential rainstorm at the end shows how much fun it was! I didn't really get all the complaints about the crowd, sure it's full of trendy East London types, but nobody other than the overly pushy dealers made me feel uncomfortable in any way.
Main problem was the sound, which seemed to bleed between tents and was too quiet on the main stage. I saw some great acts though, and am really looking forward to this year.
Field Day '07 - beyond awful
Field Day '08 - better, dodgy sound still and poor weather
Field Day '09 - didn't go, probably alright
Field Day '10 - really good. Had so much fun
Field Day '11 - also really good but not as good as '10
Field Day '12 - missed it, good lineup though
Field Day '13 - good fun, no complaints I don't think
Remember watching of Montreal on the main stage shivering my nads off under an umbrella as it bucketed down with rain. The sound was shit as well.
Mark kozelek playing nylon string guitar next to a fairground ride with its own sound system
when I saw him at the Union Chapel a week later. So angry.
doesnt strike me as the type that would dwell on a bad experience...
Liked the Mowai one, and the one a couple of years ago with Wild Beasts headlining ( though that one was much more crowded/not as good as the mogwai one)
Just going to the Pixies day this year, and i'm sure it will be fine.
Time to dust off the bowtie :)
Couldn't get tickets for Neneh Cherry at Meltdown (the main reason I even started asking) and I haven't been to a festival for about six years.
