just got into this
deep space nine > next generation > original series > voyager
dominion war bits of deep space nine > mirror universe episodes > the rest of deep space nine... >>>>>>>> ...except ferenghi episodes
I just categorise it as
episodes where sisko was bald >>>>>>> episodes where sisko was not bald
Bald Sisko was the don
I've only seen the new films
they were alright.
And dr who amazingly dull. Which is quite a feat considering their visiting new species or planets. Something about the camera lens/tint/dunknow on star trek that just made it look boring. the one with data in. Like they turned the camera on boring mode.
I think it is because there are too many people wearing mustard, standing in front of grey machines and speaking in monotone voices. They'll be disappointed because it could have been big if it wasn't for that
literally nothing good has ever happened wearing maroon
Tng > decent ds9 > enterprise > boring ds9 > voyager > original
First contact > wrath of khan > star trek > into darkness > insurrection > voyage home > undiscovered country > generations > search for spock > the motion picture > nemesis > final frontier
if I was honest I would have put the original series last, just couldnt admit that I think voyager is better than something
Love it so good
And i dint funk it could be dun like
It's the Worf lean that gets me.
or TNG but I've not got around to it yet
also I loved those youtube videos of bits of TNG cut and spliced in funny, surreal ways. but I can't remember the specific name of the series of videos. there were lesser immitators, I'm sure.
The best one is here
TNG edit 9 - A Fistful of Explosions: http://youtu.be/E-Bl8UIj7os
just watched 'flauting danger' :'D
when my dad watched it I used to get my hairband and put it around my eyes
I remember the old ones being on a teatime and it'd be BOOOOOOORING.
I mean the storylines are a bit simple but of the ones I've seen so far they're quite interesting. First episode I saw was a hearing about whether or not Data had (extraterrestrial future equivalent of) human rights. i.e potentially interesting political issues. Or like time loops. I thought it was gonna just be about stupid alien stuff. I imagine it gets quite cheesy and its probably really hit and miss and in comparison to like battlestar gllactica or something its shit... but so far I have been pleasantly surprised and found it charming.
Have you seen The Inner Light? It's one of my favourites and is an essential part of Picard's character development.
it's so much more sophisticated and intelligent than people realise. proper sci-fi, using some spacey conceit to extrapolate all kinds of ethical posers and the like.
hey, when you pulled your headband over your eyes, was that to make it clear you didn't want to see, or were you trying to be like La Forge?
To make it clear I thought it was shit by mocking it
Orignals great (check out the "gorn" episode)
Deep space 9 is shite - avoid.
deep space nine is easily the best of the star treks, it got off to a slow start but from season 3 onwards there is no competition
best characters with actual character development, most substantial thematically, more satisfying story arc structure, good exploration of religion, war, the character mourn, and the most badass captain
making a gun out of bamboo and diamonds?
fuck off pal.
can the green skinned aliean and the blue skinned alien learn to live together, yawn
You could say that about any Star Trek , ds9 has the most nuance and gets the most drama out of it
...the character mourn, the character Morn... ;-)
wife loves it though so I get subjected to a lot of it, mostly TNG but sometimes voyager. TNG is alright but can be absolute tosh sometimes, but voyager is just absolute shit. wish their ship would just blow up, just after safely transmitting the doctor's program to another ship or something so he's ok as he's the only character who isn't shit.
films I dunno, the whale one is a bit rubbish, the khan one is ok, the new one is alright and the others blend into one. generations is alright too, saw that at the cinema instead of one that involved some kind of river rafting as my mum deemed the latter film to be a bit scary looking.
with the most poncing about with silly aliens.
but then I realised Voyager was just a shallow rehash of TNG for idiots, and DS9 was the smartest, most compelling one of them all.
didnt find it funny at all
the last episode I watched (last xmas) Riker spent the entire thing trying to woo an imaginary woman in a jazz bar on the holodeck. Halfway through Picard joined him and while they were hanging in the jazz bar Bynars took over the ship. They are so unprofessional
the first three series are pretty slow but once it gets going with the dominion storyline it's brilliant
i also really enjoyed voyager, particularly the stuff with the borg, only saw bits of TNG but enjoyed it and I never bothered with enterprise as it got hammered
Mini Disney movies in space....eurgh.
Even the original series had loads better, thought provoking episodes.
I mean we're not taking phillip k dick here, but the one where the 2 civilisations are fighting a computer-simulated war, and the "casualties" voluntarily step into the disintegration booths?!...great stuff.
i'd rather watch folk trying to blow each other up
That remind me that the hairless folk can still achieve.
grant & phil mitchell?
5 Bald Heroes
Must have been heroes BEFORE 40 and bald
first I've seen of it since its initial run. It's a bit cheesy, but enjoyable; ditto TOS. I hear DS9 was great, but I found this first season or so really tedious, so I stopped watching. Never really got into Voyager or Enterprise.
I liked the original movies to varying degrees, though the only TNG movie I recall liking was First Contact. The newer movies are... alright. I recall liking the first one, but the second one just felt like an overly elaborate way of making a shout out to Wrath of Khan. There's also something somewhat unfulfilling about a Star Trek movie that mostly takes place within our solar system. Even though Star Trek was often a bit heavy handed, there is a kind of dumbed-down feel to the newer movies.
right? I really liked Into Darkness, though I've def heard some massive Star Trek nerds saying it was the worst Star Trek EVER
I've mostly seen people say they're bad Star Trek films, in that they're more lipservice to the series than something true to the feeling of the series. I don't necessarily disagree, but I don't think they're at all the worst of the movie series.
that said, I thought the writing on Into Darkness was fairly bad. I was also hoping they would move further away from TOS with this film (I didn't really like the acknowledgement in the first film that this was an alternate timeline; it felt a bit silly); looks like that may happen in the next movie, but I think I'd be pretty annoyed if it was just some variation on a plot from TOS and the original movie series.
People forget how poor the original films were. I think abrams is doing alright. Still can't deal with Chris Pine's stupid lips.
and even I realised that the vast majority of Into Darkness was a basically a series of references to it. but incredibly convolution and possibly nonsensical.
that said, it whizzed along at quite a pace and I was thoroughly entertained.
is that there's really very little between Kirk and Khan for about three quarters of the film, but we're expected as viewers to just take Khan as the bad guy.
Also all the references to Wrath of Khan are SO PAINFUL.
Also Karl Urban is pretty absent for most of the last act, and he's the best thing about the reboot series by far.
watched bits of the later series, but I couldn't say which one. Probably, TNG. Had Picard and Data, so that's TNG, isn't it? Saw maybe one episode of Voyager.
Seen most of the movies, except for the reboots, which I do really want to see.
Saw one of the films (First Contact) as a kid. That's it. Now you're all up to date etc.
Don't remember any of the film btw.
It was never off the tv at one point
Then I watched the first of the new JJ Abrams films, really enjoyed it.
Tonight I am gonna watch the second one
