At what age does having 'manager' or lower in your job title mean you've failed?
What is the remit of this hypothetical Director of yours then, sport?
He showed up at the client's office, had a 10 minute meeting, ate a baguette, told us all to audit faster and then went home.
He didn't look impressed, but I found out later that he seldom did.
...I've been managing director of my own company for over 10 years.
In a lot of organisations, directors aren't even the biggest earners. The chumps.
about 25 who refers to themself as a 'Company Director'
He was about 19, but said he had loads of money from various investments and so on. There was an alright looking website for the festival, some social media stuff, a legit Companies House profile and the proposed venue said it was booked in, but loads didn't add up. Despite being so rich, he lived in a normal semi with his parents, and looking him up you found weird self promoting sites of him posing with shitty celebrities. It was bollocks, but my editor insisted we did something with it, taking him at his word. After we did it, his former teacher rang us telling us they were worried about his mental health, and the venue backed out sharpish. The whole thing was surreal.
So yeah, never trust anyone young who claims to be a master of the universe. Unless they're doing internet stuff, then, who knows?
I am a Director aged 30, but the company has only existed 2 and a half months, so although I am at the most senior level I can get to, it doesn't really mean the same as if I was director of an SME that was well established, which in turn would be completely different to a Directorship of a company with thousands of employees, etc etc.
In short, fuck off mate.
as if I was director of an SME
you've all been deeply co-opted into an immoral and failing economic regime GOOD ONE GUYS
in short, fuck off mate
I'm a full time urban studies student. I work part time in a call centre doing research for an internationally respected research agency to fund that.
Thanks for your interest, though.
Used to shill Powergen gas onto easily confused old people. I was weirdly good at it, but then the world beat all the life out of me and now I'm just a SHELL OF A HUYMAN BEING)
I knew you worked in a call centre to supplement your studies. Guessed at telesales.
Can't even imagine doing a telesales job. I'm like the least persuasive person ever.
Is there a module on So Solid Crew?
International CEOs, Heads of blue-chip companies, Architects: 55.
a bunch of managers in your directorship, prolly around 150 employees total... maybe once you've cracked 40? Late 30s if you are one of those over-achieving types.
This post may or may not be a wind up - YOU decide.
don't think it really matters
Yeah i'm not a director
unless you bring in over half the revenue in a medium-sized company, in which case you can call yourself whatever you like, but that's rare.
by everyone that being a director was bad?
Why on earth would I want to do that?
