how do you usually react/respond?
u ok hun
If they have form for crying wolf, ignore. If it's genuine or worrying drop them a pm. Im not one for posting emotional stuff on the public bit.
as I never bother to respond *however* the only people who post these things are people I am not particularly close with/I don't know that well so if I DID feel like responding, I would worry I was nosing into their business. However, they did post it pretty publicly as if they want some form of response. IDK.
About immediate danger or risk, then I would make brief contact- "hope you're ok" is enough. They might just want to do the online version of screaming at the moon but better to err on side of caution and interfere a little I think. If it's the normal attention seeking loonery that I see on my feed round about full moon, ignore. Also sometimes helps to wait and see if a closer friend bites first. (This kind of stuff is why I am clearing out my online presence shortly. It's too complicated).
it's usually the same people doing the extremely ambiguous 'you've let me down'/'I'm so annoyed'/'grr' posts that I write off as being attention seeking and irritating.
I just worried that maybe some people might require a "are you ok?" but I would reckon, like you say, one of their closer friends would presumably bite.
Passive aggressive posters can get to fuck. I'm always tempted to say, Sorry, I think youmeant to pm this to someone but yyou've accidentally posted it as your status! ! Thought I'd better let you know!
Yeah, fight passive aggression with innocent wide eyed passive aggression.
photograph it then upload it to Facebook.
TAKE THAT PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE POSTERS.
As well as there being one girl who I know posts song lyrics that are meant to have a veiled meaning to certain people, but because they're lyrics, she also maintains plausible deniability in her mind.
You're so vain, you probably think this song is about you
You're so vain, I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you? Don't You?
been listening to Carly Simon all morning
and give them a ring/ arrange to meet up.
if it's one of the 99% of people on facebook i barely know i hide the post to save having to read the inevitably tedious replies
Just does it for attention. A public FB feed ain't really the right avenue to do it. Have offered to help them in the past, they continue to do it. It's just pointless. If you've got problems and want people to talk to on FB, message someone, don't put some whinging status update out there, not regularly anyway.
Remember when people would post "bulletins" on myspace being ambiguous and attention-seeking? Now that's 80% of the Facebook news feed.
real shame facebook killed it off
the layout is atrocious.
Do miss becoming an HMTL pro when creating my own profile. Good times.
I think the design is great, yes you can't HTML sparkly things into being, but it's still more customisable than FB and lends itself better to design types/images etc. It'd be great, it's just no one is there.
when you could do your own profile and have a song on it and everyone was an emo, it was great
But you've accidentally posted it on DiS! Thought I'd better let you know!
...that their first port of call would be putting it on their facebook. But you never know.
I don't have any time for it, myself.
It's royter, so it's fair game.
that his brain tumour had returned, but that it was in a relatively accessible place and that if they needed to operate then they'd just go in through his eye and take it out.
I liked that post. Hope he appreciated the sentiment.
