Could also be used in reverse to stalk people no?
(although, yeah, it probably could be), but surely there's a lot of potential in using it the "other" way round. So, like, if it says your mates are in a pub that you're walking past, you could drop in, or something. I dunno, I don't even have gps\location data enabled on my phone, but I can kinda see the appeal in being able to - if I'm in town with an hour or two to kill or something - stick up where I am and then if anyone's nearby and fancies a pint they could come meet me.
Guess they reckoned they'd get more publicity marketing it as something that does the opposite though.
being able to see that your friends are nearby.
My phone has, on occasion, notified me when friends have "checked in" nearby without me really wanting it to. It'd be good to have that feature enabled when you want it and to include people other than just those two sad sacks who "check in" every time they leave the house.
do people really follow a lot people on social networking sites that they'd want to avoid?
It's kind of the opposite for me, the people I'm NOT following are obviously the ones I want to avoid.
