I'll share mine later.
Mine: I was in a post-rock band for about 5 minutes.
is the length of time you were in it, right?
But I think the post is immune to my amateur google skills
with such giddy & imbecilic abandon
almost entirely subjective, therefore pretty meaningless, and normally used by people who have some kind of inferiority complex.
(What was the question again?)
I snuck upstairs for half an hour during it cos I wanted to finish my Dostoyevsky novel.
Had you proclaimed that's what you were going to do, rather sneaking off I'd have been more impressed
With the party going on around you.
reading a book on stage while soundchecking for a gig. As in reading his book while saying "one two" and singing into the mic.
The sound man told him to put his book down.
of a Belle and Sebastian gig who was reading a book whilst they were playing.
Very little has made me angrier than seeing that.
he must have been an undercover policeman looking to bust the latest shipment of Meek, the newest drug to hit the bedwetter scene.
this didn't go unmentioned by my friends
didn't have an advert I said we were busy "conceptualizing" (really we couldn't be bothered).
When I was growing up, I was the most pretentious person I have ever met. I only read obscure books and watched obscure movies and only listened to obscure music.
and I genuinely replied 'you won't have heard of them'. Before profusely apologising for being a twat.
Was explaining to a work colleague that I wasn't around for the next few days so had that agonising chat. `Oh, you going anywhere nice?`, `Yeah I'm going to a festival.` `Oh whereabouts?`, `In Dorset somewhere`. `What bands are you going to see`?
I couldn't be arsed to engage with this so I was like `Ah it's a folky type thing you probably won't know any of them.` And she was like `Try me. I listen almost exclusively to folk and americana... hang on, are you going to End of the Road??`.
Turns out she knows more obscure folk/Americana than I do and actually knew way more of the undercard stuff playing than I did. Sweet jesus that made me look a tit.
Still don't talk about music in the office though. Just because... y'know.
there's only so many conversations with people insist on you naming artists where they just stand there blank-faced and make you feel like you're just being wilfully obscure and irritating.
Happens all the time and it's the same rigmarole of `look, I know you don't know who any of these bands are - let's just leave it`. But this time I got absolutely fucking SCHOOLED. Admirable.
Still don't talk to this lass about music though.
(deja vú here)
Whilst listening to Radio 4
in a post-surrealist style
I'm pretty sure I made a post waaaaaaay back about my interpretation of lyrics to a Tool song.
waiting for legz_akimbo's confession.
