Is this the greatest achievement in gaming history?
(possible mario marries goat)
Never watch these things but quite enjoy reading about them, it probably makes for good viewing if you have a spare 7+ hours(!)
That's an incredible achievement. I love that people are out there doing this. Even if there's part of my brain saying, "but...why?"
i was so happy for him
Suggestion seems to be that this is nailed on for a later release
I'd be very surprised if that didn't appear in the release schedules soon-ish.
if they optimise it for PS4.
in today's Kindle daily deal (despite me not being 12 and it not being Christmas)
Expect it's going to be mostly rubbish but hopefully there will be a few interesting bits in there.
It's a my new old gaming PC which is 3 years (or more) behind the curve. It will however be able to properly play Guild Wars 2. So I'm happy.
Really fucked his shit up.
It's a crying shame he'll never see this.
So many tramplings.
I love Solaire
Always try and take them down myself.
I like it.
After the first time he shows up taking Solaire is a bit like going in yourself he's so useless. I just love the crazy bastard. PRAISE THE SUN!
Hardest discipline to learn.
He killed solaire within seconds so was just us two. I'd learnt all his moves by then (about 10th attempt) - think he touched me once. DICKED ON.
Went back to undead asylum. Too weak and scared to kill the demon that is now there. Also finally learnt how to kill black knights. Hooray. The answer is patience. Same as ever with DS.
- I killed the (first) Hydra after a bazillion attempts. Once you get the method it's quite easy, as with every boss in Dark Souls I guess.
- I went to Blighttown. I keep either gettibtw Toxic really fast or keep falling to my death. Fuck that place
- so I've gone back to undead asylum to kill the stray demon. He keeps sitting on me. But I reckon tonight's the night.
NEW ONE OUT SO SOON.
until I figured out the correct method, then it was a piece of piss.
Hate Blighttown. The enemies are especially unforgiving and the bonfires are really difficult to get to initially. Make sure you load up on purple blooming moss clumps for the return trip.
I got my new (old) ps3 at the weekend, so I spent a while farming titanites to upgrade my weapons for the Gravelord Nito fight. I'm going to end that sucker tonight.
This is my third trip to the asylum - second time I just got the Ring and Doll and got out of there ignoring the demon, but I want to do everything/ need the souls to level up so went back!
It's the blowdarts in Blighttown. They're getting me down.
good luck with Into. I've heard awful things.
I had a quick look at Nito and than did used a homeward bone as I was carrying loads of cash and feared a pummelling.
Horray. Having to chip away at blight town. At least the blow dart guys don't respawn.
Did you win?
I did win. Solo, on my first proper attempt. Nito's not that hard really, his moves are easily telegraphed and can be blocked with a good shield. Four Kings on the other hand... I'm really struggling, even with my newly upgraded Iaito +15. I think it's because speed is essential as they gang up on you if given time, and my natural game is to bide my time. Hmmmm.
the ganging up with time thing seems to be a bit random: I've had fights with them where I've been given loads of time to play with and others where I've been getting a gang beat down in no time at all. Best bet is to use some kind of big weapon buff like power within or sunlight/darkmoon blade or crystal magic weapon and just attack like a crazy person.
by two-handing my best weapon and flailing about, but the second guy just kills me when I do that. I'll try power within, I should be able to heal myself in between Kings if I take them down quickly enough.
Doesn't help that the bonfire is fucking miles away either.
dropping down onto one of the stone arches at the bottom. It's still an annoying trek even then though.
I think I've only killed the 4 kings on my own once and that was with a heavy magic using dude. And I was only on my own then because both the guys I'd summoned forgot to put Astora's ring on..
Where do people normally leave their summon signs for Four Kings? Couldn't see any the one time I wasn't hollow for the trip.
I do use that shortcut, like you say it's still a fair distance and difficult to avoid the darkwraiths.
between the two wooden bridges on the way into the New Londo Ruins. Though you occasionally find signs down in that watery bit at the bottom and occasionally just outside the fog gate. There's also that NPC witch's summon sign behind the rock to the right of the bridge to the fog gate, but she's beyond useless. She doesn't even come down with you half the time - there's a glitch where she'll stay at the top trying to kill a ghost that floats down from above - but she isn't cursed and so can't damage it. But she keeps trying.
in order to use her now - I didn't.
I'll be on the lookout for signs in those areas. Hope I'm not too high a level now, although I don't think I am given the stage I'm at (level 67 I think).
she's not much use on the butterfly either. You're not missing much.
If anything you might be a touch low - 60-70 tends to be good for being summoned in Anor Londo. You should probably be able to find people at your current level should you want to but you may as well beef up a bit.
and I've now gone the other way and haven't been levelling up enough recently. I'll add some more DEX points since my sword is now scaling to A.
So much so that I was twiddling my thumbs waiting for the fourth one to turn up as I'd beaten the first three too quickly.
Still deciding what to do next. Maybe I'll go on a jaunt down to Ash Lake.
There's not a great deal there but it's worth a gander. Just don't ever think of going down there at level 15, getting yourself cursed and making it almost impossible to get back. That was a long day..
Only managed to get to the first bonfire last night before my tv got home. Stupid real life.
every time in fact. Because I'm an idiot who keeps forgetting that the iron ring is a thing. It's not too tricky, just time consuming.
so far got Knack (rubbish and repetitive), Outlast (massively scary but haven't dared to play much), Don't Starve (everything I want in a sandbox game) and Fifa (Fifa).
Not 100% sure about Thief 4 yet. Very mixed reviews so not sure whether it's worth £45 or not...
have thought a few times about ignoring popular opinion and giving it a go but common sense prevailed, would expect this to hit PS+ later this year though.
Dead Nation in March apparently.
but it's just dull to play. Same enemies with different skins depending on where you are, really pointless easy bits to do at the start of checkpoints to get back to where you died. I'm playing it on hard and it's not really a challenge either...
I've heard it's like How To Survive but without the crafting. It's co-op though so I'll be playing it.
Mine is basically a Battlefield machine with a bit of pirating on the side. Can't be bothered with Thief, I want my first 'real next gen game' to be mind blowing.
Till then, it's awesomenauts and that tower game next month for me. Don't think I have much interest in Second Sun.
GREAT for free to play. DC Universe Online got old quickly.
although i did put a ton of hours into Black Flag which was amazing. Thief being average was a massive disappointment. Have disliked the previous 2 Infamous games so not really excited for the 3rd. I reckon it will be November before we see a truly next gen experience.
I'd managed to back up my Dark Souls save (used 14 day PlayStation Plus trial to upload it to the cloud) before it happened but I FORGOT TO TAKE THE DISC OUT. So I'll need to buy another Dark Souls anlong with another console.
Might have a crack at fixing it with YouTube assistance this weekend, it's not like I have anything to lose. Unless the tools I need are £loads, in which case I have money to lose. Anyone tried fixing an old PS3 with the YLOD before?
Not entirely convinced.
I like the setting and design, and unlike most people I'm not too bothered about it looking a bit like a linear cover shooter (quite like those)
There's presumably quite a while left in development but at the moment it looks (and sounds) a bit shoddy/underwhelming, can't quite see where all the 'OMG that looks great' stuff is coming from.
Fingers crossed this one gets sorted out by release.
from people who saw it and also never a good sign when they show very little footage of a game which is a first party exclusive. It looks like a decent looking cover shooter with no new ideas. Also i dont give a shit about competitive MP and am glad it doesnt have it but its dumb to make a game where there seems to be a group of 4 main characters and theres no co-op.
Purely from a selfish point of view I'm always happy if developers don't bother wasting time on features I'm not going to use.
Some of the early reservations seemed to be about performance as much as anything - it's not frame-rate or anything like that which is my big problem as that can easily be brushed up, I just don't think the graphics really look all that good anyway from what we've seen.
Would like to see this game bumped back. You get the feeling they've jumped the gun on showing this and it makes you wonder if there's any pressure on them from Sony to get a big exclusive title on the shelves ASAP (especially after Drive Club fell through) and to have something to show to try and steal some attention from Titanfall. Hopefully they'll be given time to get it right.
Been playing the South Park game. It's the best South Park game. If you're concerned over the censorship, don't sweat it - the text inserts are pretty funny.
Have got Thief to play but only on PS3. Should get a PS4 April/May time. Saw one today for sale for a reasonable amount but was the Knack package. No thanks, Knack.
because PC MASTER RACE >:D
Honestly, I am no South Park fan. I used to watch it from time to time, but beyond the main four characters and Chef I'd have been hard pushed to name any of the cast prior to playing the game. Which works just fine without the censored scenes. I giggled at the descriptions of what was happening, and the informal tone of the wording - "SORRY EUROPE, LOL", essentially. The game itself is under embargo reviews wise so I can't publish much here. But I'm enjoying it, pretty much. Few flat notes but, generally, it's like being in the TV show. Which is, I guess, what fans want. And the RPG elements - all the levelling up, the turn-based combat - is efficiently handled. The map isn't the best and the menus are clunky… but you soon feel your way around them. Yeah. S'alright.
Has anyone read a PS3/360 review of Thief? I'm curious...
State of DiS' contributor quality, 2014.
And you know what I mean. I'm not one of these weird people drawing lines between PCs and consoles, but oh my, do they ever exist - usually on message boards, eh? ;o)
If I could afford a decent PC set up I definitely would go down that route - but for practicality / affordability I've used consoles for years now. Got rid of my last PC in… erm… 2009? Yeah, around then. Couldn't afford to get it properly up to speed, and we had a Mac, too, so it had to go.
Maybe there's another Mike Diver on here, idk.
That isn't in previews / official promotional documentation.
(Apart from the menus comment, possibly… but don't all RPGs have clunky menus?)
what I mean is the PC version isn't censored
The Internet made that pretty clear.
Easy enough to get round for anyone (on any format) if you're really bothered about it.
Obviously, thats a speed run, and theres other stuff to do, but still, pretty short.
As excited as I am about new Metal Gear stuff, I'm a little apprehensive that it seems to be Peace Walker esque in style. Never felt properly immersed in that game like I have in every other one in the series.
I do want a proper next gen looking game but, seriously that is SHORT. It's like a demo for god's sake!
6 year old me never managed to get past it, so never completed mario
along the lines of Zelda or Final Fantasy
Secret of Mana
guess they're the obvious ones
gave up on golden sun coz i died right near the start and hadn't saved it
the jump at 4:00 is nuts
in the hope that it's a bit like Chrone Trigger or Secrets of Mana. Anyone played this before? Looks fun.
with the old hair dryer technique. Was pleasantly surprised to find that it worked - the console came back to life... for all of 5 minutes. Still, enabled me to get my disc out and back up my trophies. I'm calling it a win.
do the proportions in spend look about right here, or should i be spending more or less on certain bits?
case: 30 quid
what fluctuates in price most? thinking if i have to buy over a period of months, get case psu, mb first, cpu and ram last minute?
If you're gaming I'd probably weight the processor / graphics card ration in favour of the graphics card.
Here's a build for less than £300 - seems like a decent base, if you're willing to go up to 4 ton I'd get a AMD FX-6300 processor instead and a small SSD to stick your OS on - makes using a PC much, much smoother (speaking of the OS, remember a Windows disc costs about £70 - pirating is more trouble than it's worth I find).
it hasn't included the price of the GFX card seems like a decent base
Thought it seemed a bit too good to be true :)
I'd up the budget on the processor and gfx card.
got my CPU through this morning though. Finally over 4 months I've got a PC that will run games properly. Although, it's still not very good.
ATTN PC MASTER RACE
i have about 80 mods installed on Skyrim so now it's running a little more laggy in places than i'd like so i think it's time to uninstall some mods upgrade my graphics cards. what's good at the moment and is gonna last me a few years?
stupid DiS stripped my 'funny' fake HTML tags. well, screw you.
(i want to get a new graphics card, not uninstall mods, just to be clear)
It's the only way I can make the game appear in any way interesting to me.
I pretty much took the top 100 or so mods off Nexus and applied them all at once - graphics mods, combat revamp, more buildings and NPCs. It results in a less than consistent experience, and it chugs a bit in places, but I've always found the Elder Scrolls games way too dry in their lore, story and voice-acting to get into properly and it does remedy that a bit.
The early mission in Bleak Falls Barrow (where you learn your first shout) ended up an epic endurance test as I'd forgotten to take enough food and warm clothing, so by the time I'd got to the Draugr Lich at the end of the cave I was freezing and starving and had contracted every disease under the sun. After killing it despite being able to barely walk or swing a sword I stayed on a magical floating ship that was now conveniently tethered close to the exit for a few days to recover. Nothing on there to cure my disease though so I had to trudge painfully slowly back to Riverwood on foot, fighting off the odd bandit or pack of wolves in between blacking out from the pain. Made it back to the inn with literally seconds to spare.
One of the mods removed the follower cap, so I head to Dragonsreach with my own rag-tag fellowship made up of user-created NPCs. One's a big melee dude who's obsessed with Horker Meat. One's a badly-acted Scandinavian lady who never shuts up and was obviously the creation of a slightly sad and lonely individual given how often she compliments me on my handsomeness (I'm an Argonian) and strips to her pants when forced to swim in freezing cold mountain streams.
Had an epic battle on the way up to High Hrothgar with a dragon that took my five-strong party over an hour to take down. Sadly lost my only NPC that didn't continually spout third-rate fanfic on a spectacular user-created bridge halfway up. Dragon was perched on a bridge about halfway up that leads to a spectacular user-created tower (game looks very pretty with ENB mode by the way). Currently roaming around Dragonsreach looking for ways to get the aforementioned Miss Verbal Diahorrea killed as well. Kinda wish I'd done a blog or Let's Play now.
Interesting NPCs mod over the weekend. that's quite good fun and the voice acting is pretty decent too but everyone is so mean to me :-(
pretty fun, if extremely frustrating in places. The music is great.
Any word on a Watchdogs release date yet?
obviously a placeholder for whatever site had this as release date. Big games usually come out on Fridays dont they? I imagine it will be around that time though.
to discover I've acquired about 20 new games out of nowhere. Slightly unnerved.
I now have
Age of Conan
Age of Empires Online
Alliance of Valiant Arms
Battle for Graxia
Champions of Regnum
DC Universe Online
Might Quest for Epic Loot
Realm of the Mad God
Serious Sam 2
Star Trek Online
Super Monday Night Combat
War of the Roses
for no reason whatsoever. I mean some are F2P and most are bobbins, but...
Putting together a PC for low level gaming and writing. Picked up a AMD Phenom x4 9950 BE, 4 gig ram, Foxconn a7gm-s, Alpine 500w and K2 gamer case. Once I put it all together the damn thing wouldn't even power up, so looked all over the Internet and it suggested I'd killed it with static when building it. So I replaced the motherboard (to the 2.0 version) no joy, then yesterday I got my replacement CPU, no joy.
I've tested the PSU on an old machine, works fine. When plugged into any combinations of the above gear it just won't turn on.
I'm at a bit of a loss, need help! Whole thing has become a bit of a money pit. Any ideas?
What happens if you just connect the PSU to the motherboard and switch it on - some will have a switch on the board, others you'll probably have to lay a screwdriver or something over the pins to connect the power circuit (check the manual) - any lights, will any fans connected to the board work? If not, and you're sure the PSU is good, you might just have been unlucky enough to fry two motherboards...
When I press it nothing happens. No fans turn on, nothing.
I plugged the PSU into my old PC and it the fan in it turns on straight away.
I'm gonna rage quit the whole process if that is the case. I was really careful this time around, everything was on an anti static bag, I grounded myself on the case at all times!
when I get in I'll look for a switch on the board but I didn't see one.
which light above the power button is perma-on?
There is a little blue light above the power button which is perma on, doesn't say HDD by it or anything though.
Best case scenario is that the power button's somehow knackered I guess. You've got the thin wire coming from the power button to the motherboard plugged in correctly, right? Those tiny connectors can be really fiddly.
You should definitely check your motherboard isn't dead before you do anything else though - there should be at least a way to check it's getting power by bridging the power connection pins. Google it for your motherboard before you get home.
The case is cheap though so they might be different I guess.
Cheers for you help, I'll give it a go.
I checked and I found out I couldn't hurt the board by experimenting with the pin set up, turns out the colour coding was wrong. It turns on now, installed windows again last night but it now randomly turns off. I thought it was overheating but I checked the heat sink and it seems fine.
when I was younger. It worked a bit, but had loads of problems and he could never figure out why. He's much less of a novice with PCs than I am too.
hada damaged pin, but this was accompanied by the bios beeping at me like a twat.
But without a Diag Card I wont be able to tell you whats actually wrong with it.
Hmm I wonder if it's worth buying one of those cards.
The CPU was working when I got it according to the fella on ebay.
mostly positive with a few perfect scores thrown in for good measure, basically what it boils down to is 'if you're a fan of the show this is a really good 20hour episode'
loving attention to world building and good RPG mechanics let down by piss poor balancing, bugs and generally being extremely uneven.
I'd rather play this one from the comfort of my couch, but don't want the censored UK console version.
so it comes in at £30 for the normal version or £33 with a few exclusive character costumes
i like how on every customer review of every psu there is a 50/50 split of 5* and 1*. 'great, works perfectly.' 'Shit, waste of time doesn't work'.
It's massive, so she had to build her own special computer for it. Your mum is a slag.
Loads better than I expected it is too. Couldn't resist buying San Andreas and FFVI. Any more killer games for this device?
those games wont be that fun without a traditional controller
San Andreas was a total waste.
but it is pretty good
plays surprisingly well. Would be better with a physical controller though.
simple to play, look & sound great.
Device 6 is really good, but not everyone's cup of tea.
forgot the name now though, useless.
is out roundabout now... or in an hour or so probably.
no spoilers please cos i intend on getting drunk tonight instead (i will probably play the game when i get home, whilst drunk, and forget everything about it and then need to play it again)
that'll kill an hour or two tonight
yet. so i'm gonna go with 8pm GMT. i think that's when TWAU ep 2 downloaded for me anyway.
Telltale's Facebook is a hilarious wall of entitled shitbags right now.
*goes to pub*
without spoiling anything you'll hit a pretty passive a low key choice that is incredibly effective at making you go 'WHY GAME WHYYYYY! WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO ME GAME!?!'
It's a fantastic episode though
Yup turned out my post below was inaccurate and the game was out.
Good episode; though it's one of the most egregious in perhaps not giving me some of the options to do what I think Clem (at least the way I'm playing her!) would do in the situation. Though saying that when I got halfway to one of those options I actually changed my mind so it's perhaps more subtle than I though (don't think so, though based on past experience with the series!).
at least reading other peoples endings online, I'm not going to go into to much more detail than that but stuff does change based on your choices.
as opposed to a lot :)
but yeah looking it up I was surprised at some of the events that happened because someone chose a different dialogue tree to me.
loved it. probably one of my favourites. was pretty drunk though so, as predicted, i'll need to play it again. WHAT A CHORE.
Confirmed now as my second favourite episode (after 'Starved For Help').
Nick is a douche but I'll look out for him ANYWAY cos i'm so nice.
Carver is going to be GRATE! what a prick. i love him already.
I hope I get to shoot Bonnie in the face at some point.
But what the fuck, some of it just looks like lazy ass writers getting themselves out of future jams.
**** WALKING DEAD SEASON 2 SPOILERS HERE - ONLY COOL PEOPLE LOOK ****
Walter finds out Nick killed Matthew and is now pissed at your whole group? no problem bro, we'll just kill him for you a couple of minutes after the reveal anyway so we won't need to deal with that in future.
Alvin doesn't know he's not the dad? no problem bro, we'll just kill him for you so he doesn't have to go through that pain (although whilst looking up the character names cos i'd forgot them it tells me you can apparently have his life spared. whoops).
They should also get rid of the "I thought you were dead" line from the trailer at the end of episode 1. I can see they probably put it in there to keep people talking but I think I'd rather have gone two months not knowing there was a character being brought back.
Speaking of which, anyone who DIDN'T choose the [HUG] option at that bit is a terrible person.
Oh and finally, the 'puzzles' - I know the game's been dumbed down from the level of 'normal' adventure games to make it more of an interactive story but is opening a panel, picking up a key and putting it in a lock really that much of a puzzle? Let's leave it to the 11 year old girl to work out all the tough stuff shall we because we can't work out how to turn this thing off? Oh and you're 11 so when we meet this stranger on the bridge, yeah why don't you do all the talking, Clem? great plan, Luke. I'll let him off though because he's pretty attractive.
SPOILER I saved Alvin you HEARTLESS BASTARD
Also Nick could die as well if you didn't convince Walter he was a good person. (he shoots Nick instead of the Zombie) also the puzzles of old never amounted to much, they were just walking back and forth (that fucking train sequence in Season 1) and I'm personally glad they axed them because Telltale SUCK at gameplay mechanics but revel in interactive stories.
I like Luke, my heart almost broke when I chose to sit with Kenny and he looked asad behind me :(
I like Alvin. I might have to play that chapter again (again).
In the UK and today in the US, usual silly release schedule shenanigans.
Looking forward to a traumatic evening playing that!
It dangled the carrot of potential 100 % completion in front of me (unlike Origins which got too hard too early for me to even contemplate it), but there's about 5 levels I can't do (one of which I feel is just unfair rather a lack of skill on my part).
Still, definitely got my money's worth with it; and as everyone said the music levels are delightful and never failed to put a big smile on my face.
who just completed L.A. Noire...do you guys like that game? I found the interrogations frustrating but the end was really satisfying.
they should've stripped out all the open world bits and the dialogue choices where not transparent enough... for example I'd think I was asking nicely where someone was the night before but you'd end up yelling accusation of them being at the crime scene instead. It's too long as well, but at the end of it all it was pretty great but I think it's since been dethrone by the Telltale games for interactive stories.
hitting 'doubt' is so hit and miss. You might get "come on now, help us out" or you might get "YOU'RE GONNA GET EXECUTED YOU FUCKER"
I'm tempted to play it using a walkthough just to experience the story arc without the frustration of the "Doubt" option.
(They help tie the story together by the end) then yeah, The last set of cases on the Arson Desk are very engaging. Also, it's good at flipping your perception of what the game is about - at first it seems ultra stylized 1940s fetishization etc, but by the end it's reasonably gritty and moving.
by some convoluted method of creating an American alter-ego for myself, registering an US shipping address, gifting him $60 worth of Amazon gift cards and trying to spend them on US PSN store credit. Now my order's been stuck in limbo for two hours and I'm pretty certain I'm going to jail for debit card fraud. Should've just got the PC version.
I believe it works with a router and is PS3 compatible
My Amazon account's been blocked due to my bare-faced cheek.
Curse my impatience. Probably £40 out of pocket now since I don't have a good excuse for supplying them with the wrong billing address.
is good for this
well worth a download if you've got some time/5 gig free.
Might be worth turning on my xbox for this!
does anyone want a free copy of Fez, Monaco, Giana Sisters or Beat Buddy? I picked up the last humble bundle and have them going spare. I probably have loads from older bundles come to think of it - I'll have to have an audit and see if I've got anything people might want.
Last time I used HB it only let me add them to the linked steam account.
you get a link to send and the person has to sign up. I guess they figured if people were getting free games they may as well shanghai them onto their mailing lists.
It is for charadee after all.
I'll PM you the gift link thing when I get home from work.
That is my evening sorted.
downloading this tonight!
Really fun game, not overly hard yet as people are just picking it up. Looks like there is tons you can do with it though, great pick up and play game.
So you should always be playing ppl of similar skill. I should get back into it, it's the best I've ever been at a multiplayer game + killstreak music is just the most satisfying thing ever
I do need to change it to two stick aim though I suspect running away and shooting makes all the difference to staying alive.
Didn't matter how many times I died I didn't get ragey because it was cartoony.
It wasnt very fluid when I played with an xbox pad back in the day.
was pleasant enough but wouldn't really class it as a game, more of an interactive movie. Glad it was on ps plus.
So went back and did a bit of tranquil shooting on Far Cry 3 and Goldeneye (Wii version). Goldeneye felt VERY dated and the AI pretty shocking after FC3 but the control system is still a dream. Got past a very hard bit on FC3 at last and am now tooled up with the ability to kill Heavy soldiers - something I was finding a bit tricky as this new bunch don't seem to have a gap in their armour to shoot through.
Also downloaded some phone games but most of them sucked. The Dcotor Who Say What You See game is pretty much just utter bobbins.
is finish the trilogy (Origins doesn't count).
It's next gen (+PC) only is open world and has drivable batmobile.
even though it didn't show any game stuff. as long as they have a different part of the city I'll be happy, origins reusing half the map from city was really lame and annoying.
Spent all day so far reading up on the scraps of information available so far. The first reviews are really positive, but there's still an embargo on until next week. Meanwhile the DSII wiki is starting to be populated and I'm having to resist gorging on every spoiler I can get my eyeballs on. I WANT THIS GAME SO SO MUCH.
A few tidbits:
- You can be invaded whilst hollow. There's an artifact you can burn at bonfires to reduce the chances of this happening, but that also makes the enemies tougher
- Every time you die while hollow your maximum health takes a hit, up to 50%
- You can fast travel between bonfires right from the start now.
- Dual wielding actually works (going two handed with this puts you in some kind of power stance)
- There's a rare item that will let you re-assign all of your skill points
- There's 10 covenants or gods to align yourself with. One is for invasions, another is for co-op. There's at least one that so far none of the reviewers can work out what it's for. Then there's the Blue Sentinels, who allow you to invade the guilty much like the Darkmoons but also anyone in their covenant can wear a ring which automatically summons a fellow covenant member to defend them when invaded. This I like the sound of.
- Invincibility frames have been removed. No more hassle free backstabbing.
And a bunch of other stuff. The word seems to be they've somehow made the game more accessible but also more difficult. Which is...impressive.
Not sure I like being able to warp from the beginning. Having to go on a lengthy trek to rid yourself of curses was quite enjoyable in a masochistic way.
The biggest improvement they could make is making PvP work. I tried again recently and it's just utterly borked.
Actually, I lied before. I did read that they were going to introduce voice chat between players. Hope that's not true, it would completely ruin the ambience.
so hopefully lag-stabbing is a thing of the past. They seem to have made efforts to make sure that works - they've been flooding the servers with players to see what breaks it and what doesn't. I'm sure some bastards will find some exploits anyway.
Apparently voice chat only works if you're actually in the same game and both have voice chat activated. I'm not sure how that works, but hopefully in practice it means only in co-op. I don't want any invading troll talking at me.
Does anyone wanna come over and play it for me? Cos I'm rubbish at it.
I HATE YOU SO MUCH
Seriously fuck those 2 guys.
Never again. Doing it solo would be a proper achievement.
Rule 1: Single Tap unless you're sure.
Almost broke my controller last night after getting whooped for like the 60th time.
Only managed to put an hour or so in so far, and it starts off pretty low-key, but very impressed how faithful it is to the show, and there's references from all the way back to the first season.
(sadly it's the overly sensored European version) but it really is like playing an episode of Southpark. Some brilliantly funny moments in the game. Nothing too challenging with the gameplay at the moment and a lot of "go to location A, pick up object, return to location B" but the humour is definitely keeping me interested in playing through the game.
I believe that now, living in the future as we do, one can download games onto ones console.
So... which game should I download for my PS4 eh?
Battlefield 4 (only if you like multiplayer stuff)
Assassin's Creed Black Flag
War Thunder (free)
DC Universe Online (free and good for the odd jaunt)
Getting back into the hype of it, game play etc. Not long till May!
and are SLASHING PRICES to get rid of their current stock. Might be worth popping in if you fancy a bargain.
So basically it was working but when I played a game it turned itself off. Now, neither the mobo graphics ports (vga or hdmi) nor discrete graphics ports are pumping out anything. It turns on, fans are going sounds like it is booting (no beep though).
I might just throw it off my roof.
Bit worrying that you're not getting any output now though. Maybe try reseat the graphics card. If you still get nothing, and you've got a processor with built-in graphics, try remove the card completely and try boot with the monitor plugged into the motherboard slots.
May I ask what your specs are?
AMD Phenom X4 9950 2.6ghz
Radeon 6670 2gig 800ghz gpu
Foxconn a7gm-s 2.0 mobo
running it through my 32" TV
I have a spare mobo so I'm gonna switch that out tonight, hopefully that'll work and I'll use MSI afterburner to underclock the graphics card.
No graphics from the mobo or 6670.
I also tried all the RAM in all the slots. I think that the only thing it could be is the a faulty power source, thoughts?
Guess it's horror stories like this which put people off PC gaming, despite all the protestations that it's all rather easy these days.
Is this your PSU?
I wouldn't be surprised to hear it's packed up on you - pretty cheap and nasty. You shouldn't skimp on the PSU for a gaming machine, even if your 6670's hardly a gas guzzler. If you're willing to try again I'd recommend getting one that's 80+ bronze certified at least - needn't be that expensive. That you had things working for a little while suggests this could certainly be the problem, let's hope you've not blown anything on the CPU or GPU!
Did the second motherboard give you any beeps during boot-up?
I'm gonna try out my old one without the the 6670, see if it'll boot up the cpu (it's not got much power) tonight. That'll clear up what it is.
Na, hard drive makes a noise but no beep from the little speaker thing.
It is a shame, I've built so many computers in my days but this has been really off putting.
It's a 240w though so it could be under powered. Will to PC Master Race has gone...defeated. I'm going to rebuild my old PC (I nicked the hard drive) and play with that.
InFamous is out next week, that'll have to keep me busy.
Struggling with Seath the Scaleless atm. I've just about figured out how not to die, now I need to work on inflicting any sort of damage without dying.
It feels like there's more than one.
If so you'll want to take Seath's tail. Just to make things more awkward for you.
Although recently I've gone in more of a pure Dex direction, I still like to collect weapons.
On to Demon Ruins now. The Ceaseless Discharge troubled me briefly until I worked out his game.
or just after the release date for DSII..
And the word is good. Praise be.
Annoyingly the tv took last night to remind me that I'd promised to go to woking to see her friends for the weekend. My pleas were ignored. No Dark Souls for me until at least Monday.
Woe. Woe is colossalhorse.
Dare I believe I'll get it a day early? Are the gods ever that kind?
Probably not. I imagine it'll turn up a week late with a post it note attached that reads, "Dark Souls lesson 1: hope is the road to sadness."
get chased by police cars at some point. I have a need for speed you could say and think that video games will help this (not got my driving license yet so cant go out and pull some cool stunts on the high-way for real yet) thanks in advance.
Try Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit or Most Wanted
An adrenaline pumping tour de force where a new adventure is right around every corner (of the road)?
Driver, that's it
Driver: San Francisco is the most underrated gem ever
I can't believe I forgot about this game
You have to bomb it, really fast, to evade capture. Top stuff.
I have 'Need for Speed' available from one month it must have been on ps plus, I am ready to live my life as a race driver now
but burnout's fun for just going mental.
It was damned good. Took me so many tries at losing my wanted level after the big heist though, thought I was never gonna do it.
Got about 10 missions left. The bit that follows after Trever goes to North Yankton is all kinds of fucking amazing. I'm holding out though cos I know when I've done the main story I will rarely go back and do the other stuff.
Still HATE flying a helicopter, mind.
So frustrating to control
