Seems like a good egg. Right?
every time I remember this I feel a bit ashamed of how little I've really achieved with my life.
That's just because of your complete lack of talent or ambition.
you stop worrying about this stuff.
(and start worrying about DEATH)
This is entirely a fault of mine rather than anything she has done. I think it's her increasing ubiquity that's doing it.
as my default position. They have to win me over and she HASN'T.
sort yourself out, you classist lesbianist misogynist.
Quick, cheap, tasty meals. Even had a go at her granola last night and turns out it's WAY better than any shop bought stuff I've had.
Hence I was always be naturally suspicious of her.
Suspicion revoked, she's all right by me.
Good egg, definitely.
Still don't know who she is.
and the right wing press tie themselves in knots to find reasons to hate her that aren't directly related to her sexuality.
good on her.
i simply WILL NOT believe it!
Thought that the criticism when she took on the Sainsbury's adverts was utterly ridiculous.
She can be a bit aggressive when blogging, but given the abuse she has had from Littlejohn/Edwina Currie etc, I suppose that's understandable
Edwina Currie bringing up her dead grandfather as part of a debate on benefits the other week was pretty low
Simply because she's apparently no longer "poor" enough to be qualified to talk about poverty. It's Louise Mensch and the Starbucks protesters all over again.
Pretty sure that it's just that i've not seen anything though.
She was on Any Questions this week for anyone who wants a listen. Don't agree with her on everything, but she's my age and I would totally flop at doing that.
Littlejohn really is beyond parody at this point. Sort it out man.
(I assume this is a reference to Edwina Currie being hated by some people for telling everyome to stop eating eggs. The Northern Ireland industrial development board served curried eggs at a party in her honour).
they were gonna die anyway and farmers are evil but still 🐣
a tin of chick peas with her as a delicious low cost entree
there's loads of them at the moment. why?
Can't think of another one
from a female jack that she had upset
You cannot be serious man
and there's also that one with the agirlcalledjack blog, loads of 'em.
funny how often it's the foaming neocons who hate her too
you just seem like more a bell than usual today
and she sometimes comes across as a little self-satisfied with her new found 'celebrity' status on twitter, but she's achieved a hell of a lot at such a young age and seems to do a good job of preaching to the converted. Best of luck to her really.
I just hope Labour aren't grooming her to become an MP (which is the impression I get from some of her tweets) as that would be a bit of a waste. Frankly, she has the potential to be better/more influential than that.
go away and THINK about how you're going to approach this.
Are you trolling me, bro?
As in 'my view'?
They were good.
are the mad comments arguing about whether it is cheaper to buy dried beans and pressure cook them THINK OF THE ELECTRIC or just to Lidl/Aldi for a tin. Also the where do you buy 1 teaspoon of thyme? I can't buy potatoes at that price here! type things
I think she grinds my gears because she's writing uberbudget recipes for a newspaper bought mainly by loaded baby-boomer cunts.
she did blog herself for a long time before the graun.
does seem to be championed by people who can afford to not have to eat budget food though and something something something Waitrose magazine something brusma.
And she still does them on her own blog as well as the Guardian. Not sure why where they get published is relevant?
Is the guardian website limited to posh people?
It's unfortunate that the people who would find her recipes useful tend to read papers who wouldn't publish her in a million years
Budget recipes for poor people = patronising
Budget recipes for rich people = pile of shite
(and yes, the Guardian is posh)
Except me? Can we not just have a normal debate?
What's your point?
coverage of the cost of living crisis, the expansion of food poverty, food banks, austerity politics targeting the most vulnerable in society etc etc, which just about every other paper is ignoring though.
as a more-palatable alternative?
My google powers are failing me on this right now
I can't imagine making any of her recipes though. never enough truffle or cavier for my tastes.
her birth name's not Jack.
Have a nice day Sam
To be honest, Sarah Vine does quite a good job of explaining why it was a shit thing to tweet here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2848092/So-cruel-hypocrite-SARAH-VINE-describes-food-writer-Jack-Monroe-sent-heartless-tweet.html
I'm not excusing a) the homophobia or b) the `well she shouldn't have had kids` angle at all in this piece by the way. Just the bits where she takes Monroe deservedly to task for tweeting something which, in my view, is out of order. Especially using that wank #cameronmustgo nonsense.
Do admire what Jack Monroe's done. And she's been a very powerful voice in articulating what poverty is in the 21st Century for some people. But she don't half talk some cobblers sometimes :/
