Does anyone own this handset? Any good? Looks nice, I may get one tomorrow.
great call quality
good stereo speakers
really good at picking up live audio
it won like every mobile phone award for a reason, the only disadvantage is that the camera picks up a lot of noise in the day, but it's passable picture quality, it's great at taking photos in the dark without a flash though.
but found the 32GB storage to be more than sufficient but this is forgiven because the phone also functions as a universal remote due to IR blaster.
Want to turn the TV off at the pub without looking suspicious? This is the phone for you!
Best colour, in your opinion?
It hasn't impressed me at all.
The contrast on the screen is way too high so yellows and greens look almost neon. I've got an app to play around with it but that can't reduce the base contrast so it still looks pretty shit imo.
Also the battery is quite a lot worse than the iPhone. You have to charge it every night and you don't need to do much with it to run it completely flat.
and it usually lasts 2 - 2 1/2 days comfortably unless I decide to keep it connected via 4g/wi-fi all day where it usually lasts a day and a half and if I decide to stream video then knock that son bitch down to a day.
I think the screen looks fine, great even, video looks amazing on it and it's often the most praised thing about the phone.
If you don't like the way it looks then avoid :)
Had an htc g1, htc desire Hd and sony xperia t previously. This slays them all. Never been impressed with iphones having played with them.
Looks nice to me but worried I'll get laughed at :D
have confirmed this will not get the android updates, so you will not get the latest version
You're thinking of the One X. The One is getting KitKat right now http://www.gottabemobile.com/2014/01/31/htc-one-android-4-4-kitkat-update-spreads/
their most successful phone, and it's one of the most powerful phones on the market, it'll get updates for a little while yet.
You're better off getting a Nexus 5, which should be around the same price. So long as you get it SIM-free
thought it was pretty swizzy when i got it. but basically all it does is send texts, makes calls and go on the internet like most other phones.
Following years of iphone.
Love it. Battery is also brill compared to my old 4s which from the off would barely last the day.
Just turn on power saver and install juice defender and you're a good un
I love it, went from an HTC Wildfire to this and it was like stepping into the future or something. Sadly I managed to drop it down the stairs and in the process of saving it punched it further and faster than it had already been travelling. No physical damage but it's been acting funny ever since (regularly resets itself), have decided to send it off for repair.
Best feature is the amazing speakers which can genuinely fill in for a small hifi when you're doing things around the house, leagues ahead of any other phone on that front. I recorded Mew at a gig just to check out what recorded audio sounded like and I regretted not recording more as there was zero clipping (although I hate people who do this at gigs)
With the recording I was shocked that it never clips, no matter how loud the gig is, even though it was advertises extensively as a phone to record live music with.
As for the speakers, yeah they have mids, bass and highs and for phone speakers they completely blew me away (with the Beats EQ turned on) it's also got an incredibly powerful headphone output, it can drive anything comfortably (my friend has portable speakers and when he plugs them into the iphone 4s/5 you can't hear shit but with the HTC One they sound great) but you should turn off the beats feature if you use headphones because all it is is a form of compression and who wants that?
and despite playing loud enough to irritate the neighbours (drum machine cranked up, no live drummer) it was actually slightly too quiet when we listened back -- the phone seems to perform better the louder the source
