Where are the tasty places I haven't visited yet?
Allegedly the best hot dogs in Glasgow.
Even if they're not, I've bought the Groupon already.
Would recommend, but not when it's busy.
also worth checking out: spiced dhabba in the merchant city for an indian meal.
And it's sister pace across the road, Dhakin.
Balbir. Need to go back there.
that only does meat
It's a perverse concept but it works.
Bovine know their way around a steak, yum.
Krabshakk is meant to be good for you seafood-y types.
I pretty much only go to reasonably priced places in Yorkhill/Partick. Bibis, the banana leaf etc. and occasionally expensive fish restaurants.
I'm terrible with street names/ names of bars.
A place in Merchant City with an Irish-sounding name that did 'home-cooked' stuff.
went yesterday. amazingly delicious, but had to listen to shit bands soundchecking the whole time. wish they were still at variety :(
....they're all west end
The Two Figs
All worth checking out, all in the west end.
Cottiers can do one though!
What's your beef with Cottiers?
It was brilliant and the food that day was excellent. The room upstairs is really cool! :)
Formerly stravaigin 2
Great atmosphere, and some dishes are really good but there's a few average ones.
The coffee is immense right enough!!
mother india's cafe is also really good. tapas style beside the kelvingrove.
If you can be fucked queuing!
not too bad LP, how's yourself? I'm in toronto. It's fucking freezing!
you up for a swally in a few weeks? I should be back in the weege.
Yeah not bad, busy busy, got so much on at work I could cry.
Yeah a few beers sounds like a plan stan!!
it's alright. just been up the cn tower. now in a Tim Hortons choking down one of the most abysmal cups of coffee I've ever had.
it used to be the 78, but then it kinda went a bit downhill somehow. It's a shame cus I used to feel I was guaranteed a great meal there.
.... Stereo and mono are still pretty good but I'm not really in the vegan loop
but aye all good
nice food generally but idk
what about the 13th note? not actually tried the food but heard it's meant to be ok. don't think it's all vegan yet though.
it's the only explanation for no one mentioning it and it's strip lighting, open til 2.30am policy, 3 menus with no descriptions on any of them for maximum confusion and the best roti canai and kangkong and soft shell crab and "Three Kinds Roast"
It's still very good and looks exactly the same but they've got proper menus now.
The quality has dipped in the last five years but it's still great and relatively unequaled for south East Asian and Chinese cuisine.
There's a funny wee place round the corner called China Gourmet, I think.
Also very good, it's not your typical Chinese end serves up some weird and wonderful stuff.
I once had chicken and jellyfish.
For Indo-Malay gear, try the Banana Leaf at Cowcaddens. Only been once but I enjoyed it.
They do rendang, roti canai, gado gado etc.
Many of my favourites have been mentioned up thread, but I'd add the Butchershop Bar and Grill to the list.
Great steaks and burgers. Locally sourced high quality beef cooked to perfection. Sides and deserts are a treat too.
i think i probably last went in 2009 because every time since i've been back in glasgow it's either been closed or i've not been anywhere near it when it was time to eat. it was never great for chinese takeaway standards but all the malaysian stuff was brilliant.
there's that other malaysian place called rumours which is good but nowhere near as good as asia style. i guess this banana leaf isn't related to the south indian ones like the one in yorkhill? sounds good though
and no post from PickledOaf going on about "pure greetin" and "square go" etc. i'm a bit disappointed
give it time
Wor lass has insisted we go twice in the last ten days. He's very friendly.
The toffee apple ice cream there is lovely.
