Just an author. One assumes that his publisher thought that this would be a good way to raise publicity for his book, except that it also happened to get a bit of a kicking in the same paper at the weekend for being deliberately wrong and exaggerating things, without the defense of it being done in a humourous way.
'I have a Danish wife' article.
i think i find the premise of his book pretty annoying.
'Ask the Finns and they will tell you that Swedish ultra-feminism has emasculated their men'. No they won't.
"We need not detain ourselves here too long. Only 320,000 – it would appear rather greedy and irresponsible – people cling to this breathtaking, yet borderline uninhabitable rock in the North Atlantic. Further attention will only encourage them."
Uhm, what? Is that supposed to be an argument for something?
(lots of mistakes and bad reasoning in the other parts as well)
"They will do anything to avoid sharing a lift with a stranger, as I found out during a day-long experiment behaving as un-Swedishly as possible in Stockholm."
Hahaha! What a bozo.
It's not really surprising if you focus on all the negatives of a country you can make it look bad. You could with any country. Everywhere has serious flaws, because making a happy and successful society is really really hard. If not impossible. I don't really see the value in the article. The tone of it is really weird.
was linked approvingly by a Scandi-loving and Scandi-living Scandi i follow on twitter
i think there is a tendency to see Scandi countries as utopian, especially if you're a DiS type, but every country has serious problems. if you don't think otherwise you're kidding yourself. would be interested to see what BITT and other Scandi-dwellers or Scandis think
he generally talks of everywhere being Pretty Fucked Up mind, or at least he does on the internet
