My laptop's stopped playing DVDs - portable DVD player?
Back in September, I gave up my car and started using public transport to get around. One of the things that made this transition easy was that it meant I could watch a film over the course of my commute to and from work.
Unfortunately a couple of weeks ago my laptop started rejecting DVDs. I did some research, repaired the disk permissions, and it worked one more time, but now it won't work at all. I've tried repairing the permissions again, but makes no difference.
It's pissing me off cause I really enjoyed watching films on my commute and now the journeys are becoming quite tedious. I know I could download films instead, but it seems wildly expensive compared to the Lovefilm DVD package I have. Unless someone can point me in the direction of a Lovefilm/Netflix service that allows you to download multiple films for a monthly subscription?
Alternatively, I'm considering buying a cheap DVD player. Something like this. http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-dvd-blu-ray/dvd-blu-ray-home-cinema/portable-dvd-players/logik-l9spdvd12-portable-dvd-player-12448383-pdt.html
7 inch screen is probably awful for watching films but beats my current situation, without having to fork out for a new laptop.
Give me advice. Make me happy again. You're my only hope.
