MATA TO UNITED!
MORE BIGOTED (EX)CHELSEA PLAYERS!
and Bazza F to step up to player manager at Blackpool.
It's a leak.
Ince's head's been on the chopping block for a while and no-one of any prestige is going to manage under Oyston's system. Seems sensible.
as here we go, announced 2 hours ago.
Ince's appointment was never especially welcome. Did himself in with his and his team's indiscipline and slide down the league.
Not sure what BFERG will do but it's nice to see a player manager back in the game. Don't see enough of 'em these days.
Per Mertesacker is the most likeable footballer/German/human in the world though.
Woodward telling the press secretary to 'leak it' while tucking into a bag of Mister Potato chips.
about Mourinho phoning up Moyes and saying "I wish to discuss Juan Mata with you!" and Moyes thinking he's saying 'one matter' and saying "Ok, what is it you want to discuss?"
Mourinho: Juan Mata!
Moyes: ok, what is it?
Mourinho: I want to discuss Juan Mata!
Moyes: What matter?!
Mourinho: Why are you behaving like this? I just want to talk about Juan Mata!!
Moyes: I can't help you if you don't tell me what you want to talk about!!
It's pretty much there. Just need help fleshing it out to an hour and a half.
Mourinho: Just send me a cheque and you can have Juan Mata
Moyes: But you have Cech! Just tell me what's the matter!
Only came here to make that pun really. Nothing else to add.
everything i've read online has no idea. all it says is that that french comic was alleged (or proved, i dunno) to have made some anti-semitic comments once.
i don't even understand what it means. it just seems like a load of dimwitted people have been doing it to copy that shit comedian, like planking or whatever. can't believe a footballer hasn't celebrated a goal by planking tbh.
It's basically a bloke saying, nah, it's definitely not anti-semitic, it's anti-establishment! While telling all his close mates and horrific people that it's what people think it is.
Some of the comments from this fella are pretty awful. Can't see how he's remotely funny.
anelka should be banned for being his friend
however after a little bit of research, ie reading his wiki page, he seems to be definitely not an anti-Zionist as he claims but actually full blown anti-Semite.
in short I probs wouldn't do a gesture that he has popularized.
Pretty much every reasonable French journalist has said that M'bala is anti-semitic. He has been convicted in court eight times on anti-semitism charges.
Even if he's NOT racist/anti-semitic, then defending a guy with his track-record at offending Jews and being convicted of anti-semitism is still pretty bloody stupid.
if you look at his list of fines/convictions there are a few that, at face value, I'm not too comfortable with. Without getting bogged down in the debate, I think, for example, getting fined E7,000 for calling Holocaust commerations 'memorial pornography' is a bit much, so you can see why there's some anti-establishment feeling surrounding him.
politics of Holocaust memorials debate going in the footy thread.
who gets paid (presumably well) to write about sport and is worse at it than Ben Dirs?
I know Barney Ronay is easy to ridicule, but if this is the alternative then simile ahead like an English Lit supply teacher on a Blackadder binge, Barney:
It’s not even bad, just the blandest, least original collection of thoughts on sport it might be humanly possible to write down.
are kind of missing the point about Barney Ronay.
everything he writes is a one or two paragraph summary of events, followed by a fucking novel that says exactly the same with no further details.
read it last night and thought 'christ'. Reads like a blog post as a) there's nothing to back any assertion up and b) there are no quotes at all. Poor show.
And it's a shame because Dirs can be much, much better. Miles better than Phil McNulty, anyroad.
I think he's too much at times, but when he's good - he's excellent.
He's disappointing/irritating when he's on autopilot, but that's pretty rare.
He's quite bad
Nice dense beard though.
Back in the day. When he wrote for The Times.
at Old Trafford in the Spurs end. He must have blagged some tickets from a player or club official, because he was in with the complementaries and sat right at the front.
Before kick off and at half time he just stared back up at the crowd with a weird grin on his face, like the kid in front of you in assembly who wanted to the reaction to an eggy fart he'd just dropped.
He once wrote an article that said that, because people are taller now than when the laws of the game were made, goals should be made bigger.
he doesnt have to play them again this season, everyone else does.
Would totally take the piss but it makes 100% sense for him to do (cos he's a dickhead)
they're not gonna challenge chelsea for anything, that's probably more the point.
if he's gonna sell him, sell him abroad surely?
and as mentioned they'll play Chelsea's rivals, not Chelsea again
their players to clubs in the same division.
but there's no way they'd be where they are this season without Lukaku, Barry and Deufolelululo - if you get loans from Chelsea, Man City and Barcelona respectively, and are about to add another who's just signed for Monaco for £17m, it's a bit of a false squad in a sense.
They can't expect to consistently recruit loan players of that quality, so whilst it's good for them in the short term then yeah, it's a false squad that isn't building for future seasons very well.
on the back of having a turn with players from 4 of the world's richest clubs, then it means they probably can. I'm just not entirely sure it's fair
but they're not going to get into the Champions League so, you know, it's like a cow's opinion.
if chelsea actually sell him to united theyre mental, obviously. This season he can't have any negative effects on chelsea at all should he go to united.
I reckon he might do it as well. Won't want to seem too eager to do it though, so expect this to drag on. Obviously.
United are basically going to lose Rooney though - not sure I could deal with that many pricks at Chelsea, tbh tbf.
You should revel in Chelsea's being stuffed to the rafters with pricks.
When you see all the horrible sweaty pricks screaming at a ref at every throw in decision it just chips off a bit of my soul when the rage bubbles up.
if United get Mata and Rooney doesn't end up going the other way. Absolutely astonished.
that would be really annoying but at least it's not basically cheating
Why the fuck is anyone even entertaining the notion?
just keep saying that to yourself. that way, you can only get good news.
Now we've sold De Bruyne, selling Mata would actually leave us short on attacking midfielders. That'd be a bit embarrassing given we had about 30 at the start of the year.
He'll be sold abroad in the summer. Only way he'll go to United is if Rooney comes the other way- but given Rooney can buy his contract out in the summer we really have no reason to sell one of our best players to our rivals.
will only be accepted by the fa or whoever it is in exceptional circumstances. Like, if united are seen to be massive dicks somehow.
Like swap deals and release fees for spanish players. Never ever actually going to happen in a month of Sundays.
Football Manager also needs to make them far easier to pull off. Forget realism - give the public what they want...
Should have logged it as a bug really.
Was that the first Premier League swap deal since Keith Gillespie?
And(rew)y Cole, Ashley Cole...
Carlton and Joe anyone?
a la Vice Versa:
[Starts with Joe Cole mumbling something about "just wanting to be big"]
"oh thank god, he said 'big'..."
"Go and stand by him, lad, he's your manager now."
football's a business
with Mourinho as John Lithgow and Mata as Harry.
Not because the FA have to approve it- that's obvious nonsense. Mostly because it's prohibitively expensive to do. The value of the contract might not be huge, but that wouldn't be the sum a 'buying' club would have to advance or reimburse- that'd be the contract value and a huge fuckload of tax on top.
It'll always be cheaper to just buy from the club than it will be to buy-out a big contract.
Meh- either way there's no way Mata will be at United on Feb 1st.
Also liking the suggestion that Chelsea need to 'BRACE THEMSELVES' for a £37 million bid, as if Bruce Buck is running round sounding a fog horn and ushering everyone into some kind of incoming-bid bunker.
Ringing a bell like the "ICEBERG, RIGHT AHEAD" guy in Titanic
but Mata was, in mid-December, the 12th most started player at Chelsea this season. A drastic drop off from the last two seasons of course, but still indicative of a player considered useful and useable. I expect the main reason that Chelsea won't loan Mata to United is that it would be quite a hindrance to Mata playing for Chelsea.
I've let this go a few times 'cos you seem a good guy and I'd happily buy you a beer and that, but you're increasingly neurotic about Chelsea and I'm not detecting any signs of trolling. I suggest letting it go. Arsenal are doing really well, maybe pay attention to them instead.
that makes him the most used sub. still pretty crap for your best player.
Incidentally, that may also be Mata.
Poor bloke. Just want to give him a hug.
Just no way he's a goner this month, to Man Utd or on loan.
When asked whether Mata's father was a guest of Arsenal, Wenger smiled: "No. I don't know. Maybe."
Even if Mourinho agreed to sell to us in the summer, there's no way we could fit Mata AND Cesc into the line-up
an in-joke slightly-comedic-reference to previously stated opinions on mourinho is hardly being neurotic but whatever
Chico Flores is a shitcunt fwiw

about needing to "bring one or two people in" this month left a fairly sour taste in my mouth. The club panic bought so many players in the summer they couldn't even loan out all the seniors they didn't need. Meanwhile good ol Tone only agreed to manage them if they let him buy even more unsellable muscle-bound gubbins.
Considering that we don't really have any back up centre backs or strikers at the club.
I presume that this 34 is the 25 man squad plus 9 players over the age of 21 in which case I assume they would be.
Banton - Sold to Plymouth last week. If we hadn't gone up, he would have probably featured this year. We saw him as one for the future if we came down again.
Parsons - Same as above.
Ramage - season loan to Barnsley
Dobbie - loaned to Blackpool
Appiah - loaned, to Cambridge again a youngster, scoring for fun at Cambridge. He would probably feature if we hadn't gone up. Definitely not good enough for the Premier League, but would be used if we came back down again.
Garvan - Ok last year, but injured a lot. We've just not shifted him on.
Wilbraham - Again not good enough, can't sell him. Although he played this week.
Murray - injured (out for a year)
Of the ones in the 25 man squad. Philips has now left for Leicester, McCarthy (injured), Jack Hunt (injured), Kebe (loaned to Leeds), Grandin (god knows, ridiculous singing by Holloway), Dikagacio (Injured).
So since that report was probably compiled, three have left the club, a number of injuries and four out on loan.
Also, don't the likes of Chelsea have about 20 players out on loan at anyone time? Are they counted?
I don't think we expected to go up, and with the playoffs didn't have enough time to shift the players who didn't make it. Hopefully we'll resolve that this month.
The BBC article does not mention that we also have the lowest wage budget in the Premier League.
betting against the bookies when they temporarily slash the odds for players to stay following a wildly speculative rumour in the press.
that said, i'm not exactly King Tipper.
not sure that works
I wouldn't be too pumped after watching Jimmy Miln and Spanish Dave rip through him in the Allianz.*
* I can't remember if he was playing.
Yeah seemed a weird one to me, haven't seen loads of him but was always under the impression he was one of those loose-cannon types.
Maybe the best on force, but dammit if your hair isn't against regulations.
Dante's not great but he's their best central defender. I don't think Guardiola will want to go into CL knockout games with Boateng and Van Buyten starting.
all these players we're not gonna sign. pinch me, i think i'm dreaming!
I may have to steal that Joe. Absolutely superb.
Were we just going to ignore it?
it's probably best if we do.
Hope Jovetic gets some air time too. If Wham could refrain from breaking Aguero/Kompany/Negredo's legs that would also be smashing.
at least i'll save over £400 next season
when your shitty team is in the semi-final of a cup competition and you forget it's even on.
Then saw Barnet were 6/1 to win, the bastards equalised before I even had time to put money on them
why is pellegrini starting fernandinho, navas, aguero and negredo in the most rubbery of dead rubbers?
might as well about 9 of your best kids and see what they can do
Decent warm-up for Spuds away next week this.
10 mins to turn this one round!
Getting humped 5-0 by City in a Cup Final would just be embarrassing.
