"It used to be that you had to bang on the back door of the warehouse to ask for a box but it's easier now"
no. they used to be in a big pile in the back corner of the supermarket and you could take whatever you needed. now supermarkets are all trying to out-posh each other and they get immediately collapsed put in a recycle bin. you have to ask some stressed-out employee who has too much on their plate to go rooting around for old boxes.
Who pays for boxes? Daft
they're obsessed with throwing them away immediately. i think the managers get gold stars for tidiness from head office or something.
fuck you cat race
sainsburys near me has an area they're put in and everyone can help themselves
supermarkets are switching to using reusable, washable plastic trays rather than cardboard.. for the environment, ease of shelf stacking/replenishment, makes it uniform and pretty when on display, easier for their suppliers and probably saves them abit of $$$ in the long run too.
I needed some quality boxes when we moved recently and *almost* had to buy some at £4 a pop x 10.
Got some at Robert Dyas. I challenge anyone to have asked for boxes in a weirder place
they've gone a bit damp though and none of them are the right size for vinyls
the nearby Tesco Extra and Sainsbury's Local. I had to ask, and in the case of Sainsbury's, come back early the next morning to collect them, but they were cool with it.
