i've decided things that things that try to be funny at anything louder than conversational level are never ever funny.
people who've spent the last however many years quoting both of those films are insufferably unfunny, and have made the films themselves less enjoyable as a result
and thought the exact opposite.
It's one of the only recentish comedies that I do actually find funny. I think having Greg Mottola on board makes it feel a bit less staged.
Anchorman: 'whacky' and pretty much shite (despite Paul Rudd)
Superbad: Amazingly written and acted and more importantly, seriously funny
except superbad is mildly amusing rather than seriously funny.
also I would have spelled "wacky" correctly
thankfully, someone agrees
Best fucking line. Why don't you go piss your pants again
Kind of thing Jay says on The Inbetweeners all the time without anyone even batting an eyelid.
First off, it's the delivery. Second, the inbetweeners is a straight rip of superbad
Second bit isn't true actually. First bit stands. Jonah hill has a fucking great cadence when he's talking shit
I don't think it is crap, just wanna know
this thread has confounded my expectations.
find it weird how people think their taste in comedy is 'correct', seems to happen with comedy even more than music that people confuse something not being to their taste with it being bad, people have different personalities preferences and experiences so you would expect people to find different things funny. Personally I think they are amongst the best films in their genre.
Instead of trying to justify your terrible taste the same way anyone with terrible taste does.
my first point would be valid even if I didn't like those films
Interest piqued by the absolutely bizarre list of cameo appearances.
seen it twice, actually like it more than the first one. the first one seems like they just let will ferral improvise and they edited together the good bits, this one seems abit more honed, and the overall plot they hang it on has more to it. They overdo brick's character abit but I guess steve carrell is a big name nowadays. Not enough baxter.
DING, DING, DING, DING.
the indie-points-o-meter's just malfunctioned.
have you seen both? of the people I know who have seen both it was the consensus that it was the better than the first. The reviews may not have agreed but the first one didn't review well at all either, this type of film just isnt appreciated by film critics.
I think making accusations of indie points comes from the same place as people wanting indie points, everyone wants to think they know better or are more aware or are more real than others
the massive fight at the end was just an excuse for lame actors/celebs to have a cameo. The joke with Brick is that he is disabled. Obviously this was true of the first but so much more obvious in this one. Can't be arsed to go off on one and it's probably just that i've grown up since the first one but fucking hell it was shit.
fair enough, but I think if someone still enjoys the first one they will also really enjoy this one
superbad is horrendous
I liked the film Step Brothers though and got a bit emotional during the Will Ferrell/JC Reilly drum/singing duet so idk
I got the complete Monty Python's Flying Circus box for Xmas and I haven't laughed much yet. Does Monty Python = Shit? STAY TUNED
when Anchorman starts and you hear a bit from Brick and they're all being sexist you do want to turn it off. It gets funnier after that though
I'd say they're a much better starting point for Python, and have aged a lot better than the series.
not a thing. just log off facebook or stop hanging out with bores. cheers.
classmates, colleagues, working in a place with a customer base of morons etc.
