Man U win the Champions League
Man City something something Victoria
When's the next international break?
i.e. how much can we ignore man u's result last night?
The headline I read said Giggs had an amazing game, so they must be shite.
We were very good though, Valencia's good game can be put down to their LB being a twat though.
Kagawa was dreamy when actually played in his position, who knew!
But yeah, when he plays the chances are he'll do something enjoyable to watch. Not always the most effective but little enjoyable moments are why we watch football right?
wish more TV pundits would go down this line
this year, i think yöu güys can let us have this one. leverkusen were pretty hopeless at the back though. no idea why hyypia was just watching it happen.
favourite moment last night was when the sexiest counter attack of the whole match was rounded off by #ando spooning it ten yards wide. the guy's a character in the dressing room, you see, that's why he keeps getting new contracts.
smalling's confidence must be sky-high today. he nearly had a hat trick.
thought you'd sold him years ago.
Enjoy your flickering moment in the limelight
better to rip the plaster off
and you're already coming back. give us a break!
3 or 4 British players were recently arrested in Australia for similar things. Each of them had been playing in the Conference South last season.
Definitely something fishy going on.
you shouldn't get a red card as well. thats bollocks.
I read the '10 things we learnt' article as well :(
Spot kick, down to 10 men for the rest of the game, that player also misses at least one more game on top of however minutes he missed when he got sent off. All that for what may have been a genuine but mistimed tackle, or a keeper going for the ball and getting it wrong by a split second. Fuck that
you know the rules.
the rule is there for a reason, to stop people hacking someone down when they're through on goal. if you're only going to get a yellow for that, everyone will start doing it (again).
i would still be put off from scything someone down if i knew i was going to concede a penalty, regardless of the colour of the card. i guess the issue is made more complicated by fouls near to but not inside the box.
(already gone round the keeper, goalmouth scramble, opportunity for defender to handle on the line etc) you might as well concede the penalty if there's no chance of a red.
it just leaves massive hacking downs open to everyone. it was so cynical and annoying. why can no one remember?!
is there a way we can make this happen?
a. intricate training ground move
b. one-pass lay off
c. absolutely blast it and hope for the best
it's got to be c
a's and b's are clearly made up on the spot and look terrible.
or do you mean a touch, then blast
i've just learned that if you are awarded an indirect free kick really close to your own goal, you can just smash it into your own goal and this will concede a corner. more of this pls
I just thought describing things you do on a football pitch as 'illegal' was funny. I'm finished now. Sorry.
I'd like to see a team do that, the ref award an own goal, and then get surrounded by all the players, big fight, endless discussions about it in the press, die happy.
“Never give in. Never, never, never, never—in nothing, great or small, large or petty—never give in to meths”
― Winston Churchill
you think a penalty isn't enough to stop someone making a challenge?
handballs on the line. remember those? exactly.
The punishment is massively out of scale to the crime, almost certainly losing the game (and negatively affecting future games) for the player's team for a single probably undangerous incident, as well as destroying the spectacle.
If the idea of players being given "free license" to hack the opposition down, have a penalty being awarded for any free-on-goal-stopping fouls outside the box as well as a yellow card. Sorted.
is making a split decision which they've gotten slightly wrong. There's also every chance he's been gamed by the attacker. If you don't remember the hack em down age favourably, I'm sick and tired of shite forwards going down at every possible opportunity, because they know they're shite and are just hoping to get somebody sent off.
Players will always try and bend the rules in their favour, excessive punishment does not change that but does ruin the game for everyone else.
i'd be in favour of getting rid of them for certain types of red card. violence or endangering someone's safety, sure, but for a momentary head loss it seems harsh.
but again, if you loosen up the punishments, you make it easier to break the rules.
and please, before it even gets off the ground, let's not start comparing the rules of football to criminal offences.
Bit ridic that you can be sent off for a slightly mistimed challenge in the box but receive only a yellow for a much more cynical challenge to block off a counter attack.
How often is someone properly hacked down in the area? It's pretty rare, imo. Most penalty area red cards are for denying a clear goal scoring opportunity, not dangerous or serious foul play. And of course red cards for goal-saving handballs work. They hardly ever happen.
To conclude, meths is wrong. WRONG.
when it's barely begun: INFURIATING*
*unless it's your team doing it to the opposition
seriously, are you all suffering from amnesia? it used to be really annoying.
you're really, really old
when Alan Knill returns in charge of Torquay on Saturday. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/nov/28/scunthorpe-fans-squirrels-knill-plymouth?CMP=twt_gu
can't wait for the world cup and 3 big games a day.
Enjoy watching Bosnia v Honduras at 3am.
I'm worrying every night about football, about this, about that, I could have been dead.
Thought that Bayer had the better of it up until the first went in. Superb last ditch tackle by Evans on Kießling after he left Rio looking lost. Once United scored they fell apart. Not sure you could call their LB a footballer. No surprise that with Kagawa at AMC we look infinitely more fluid. Same thing happened in the last quarter of the Sociedad game.
Ando is the ultimate garbage time player he was everywhere for the last 15mins and Nani finishing the game as our striker and scoring capped off the night.
there will be A BIT OF MOVEMENT at northampton http://www.northamptonchron.co.uk/sport/cobblers-loan-midfielder-ferdinand-is-recalled-by-peterborough-1-5712670
Swindon expect NO ARRIVALS http://www.gazetteandherald.co.uk/sport/10838934.Quiet_deadline_day_expected_at_Swindon_Town/?ref=var_0
oh how exciting
Hope he tears the Championship up, he's good enough to
or was that his brother?
wouldn't be surprised, fits the Coyle MO. Expect to come back supremely unfit, though.
Would've been part of the first-team squad last year until that happened. He's very talented.
best of luck to the lad.
How would they rate Powell's performances? I know he's been getting good write ups, and the bits and pieces I've seen are promising, but you can't really know without watching the games.
Rumours are he'll be loaned out to a prem club in January.
he's been good. he's got excellent technique, is always getting involved in the play, and has shown some really decent moments of creativity. he's been by far the player i've most enjoyed watching this season.
still really raw though. he gets near goal and shoots, regardless of the options. if he matures he'll be a decent premier league level footballer. dunno if he's good enough for united, though.
Although he looked fairly comfortable a year ago playing against (lesser) Champions League opposition, so who knows. It doesn't seem to phase him for sure.
From the sounds of it, he could do better to stay in the Championship for a bit. He's not played regular football above League Two before, and if he's still very raw he might quickly end up on the bench in the Premier League.
Pretty sure every United fan desperately wants to see him succeed. Seems like such a nice/genuine lad too, even down to his relatively modest 'I kick a ball around for a living' twitter tag line.
:D what a twat
starter for 11
association football-themed dinner venue
love me some delroy.
has cancer :(
swansea - valencia should be a really good watch later
i havent heard him say, "we" about us, but some of things he says sound a bit like he supports us.
You've heard about the "Get in" he did during the Marseille game, when Scez saved it? I could not work out if it was for the nailed on 'goal shot' or the save.
he is, as the french say, a worstcunt
Are Spurs going to be okay?
I heard some bloke going on about how Aguero's scored more goals than Spurs this season.
Not much of a story really.
more worrying is that Stoke have scored more goals than Spurs.
I meant 'funnier'
Just had a look - they're even on the same number as W*ham.
1. don't even have any strikers
2. are gash
