I do, unless they have driving in a reckless manner
I'm not about to shout over a load of commuters.
Makes me look like a nice guy in front of the ladies of the bus.
you don't pass the driver when getting off the buss around these parts
If it's more than 5 minutes late, no
i.e if they say thanks i say cheers or vice versa i dunno
Only when exiting via the front door (AKA in the provinces). Not in that London.
basic manners innit
1) the bus arrives in good time
2) they haven't driven like a maniac
3) i'm not late
4) there aren't very many people on the bus
then i will smile and do a half wave
i'm not a monster ffs
don't know if it's because I am impolite sub human scum or something, but I've always found thanking the driver weird. think it's because no-one ever used to thank the driver when I was younger (surrounded by impolite sub human scum I guess?), so when people did do it it was just odd. think I am too set in my ways to change now.
Otherwise, no. I'm the one paying, not him. I'm keeping him in a job ffs, least he can do is thank me for it.
when you show them your bus pass or touch your oyster card
(still don't thank them when I get off though)
where if the oyster machine is broken most drivers will just hold their hand over it and stare forward when people get on to avoid directly communicating with them to let them know it's a free ride today.
that london, yeah.
Getting off the back, I'm not going to holler down to the front.
