Christmas time off work
What have you got booked off? What do you mean you haven't sorted it out yet?! It's November!
I have opened my bargaining position at all of Christmas week, which would net me nine consecutive days off for three days of annual leave. Bargain.
The big boss might want me to work through, because it's sort of my turn. My counter-argument is that I'm too useless to be left here unsupervised. This is a fairly high risk strategy.
ive got
12/12/13
then 20/12/13 - 3/1/14 (17 consecutive days off!)
applied for the 23rd till 6th off
flatly refused
currently failing really badly at keeping my fury at this under wraps
that is quite a while
I think I had something ridiculous like 16 straight days off last year, most of it back home.
It was too much. I was chewing my arm off to get away by the end.
aye i love to hibernate at christmas
see my family for a bit and spend the rest of the time drunk, watching films and playing too much GTA
reason given for refusal - none at present
shower of cunts
Your work, not your family.
We're closed from December 20th
so don't have to book it off. Cheers.
it is SO good to be back working in Higher Education!
The obscene amount of leave we get is the only thing keeping me here
APPEAR
Obviously booked 2 Jan off though
Only mentals go to work on the 2nd of January
We get that as a closure day
will probably take 3rd Jan off too, so I can go back on the 6th!
arrrrggh
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
I don't know and i own't know until the last minute. The uncertainty is so annoying (even though I don't have to worry about booking flights home or anythinglike that, for the first time in a long time.)
this is another facet to my argument
The other folk are going to be around here anyway, so let me fuck off back to Glasgow to put a Santa hat on my niece, you cunts.
thread's been done, audit is already in place for 2013
got bags of owed in-lieu time to take
so am off from 20th Dec to 6th Jan, gonna be great
gonna book so much time off.
First time in 3 years I've actually got some time off at Christmas
10 days from the 20th which depressingly means coming back to work on my birthday but at least the office will be empty so I won't have to buy people cakes.
probably the 23rd of Dec to the 5th of Jan
if I can manage it
I think I have to work 23rd and 24th
which is slightly annoying but I've confirmed the 27th off at least which is good news. I can't stand the thought of coming into work for one day between Xmas and the weekend.
Office is closed Christmas week, so have to use three days of holiday.
Good thing I have a few left.
Not sure about new year's will have to see.
i haven't got a choice, dunno when i'm gonna be working
I've got 4 weeks off. I can either work on some projects at home
or work on my dipsomania
2 days used for 10 days off. not a bad return
working those 2 days off betweem xmas and new year though. poop
We've got 20th - 6th off
At a cost of 5 days of A/L. Pretty good!
Think I'll head home for most of it, with a few trips to see friends dotted around just before Christmas and then on NYE.
UPDATE:
Negotiations swiftly concluded. Got what I wanted.
Touch me.
Leaves me with four more days to take before the end of the year, too. Wunderbar.
and the other person at my level's having to work through!
Everything's coming up Milhouse.
Always book all of it off. Always.
Got the 19th until the 2nd off. Love it. Absolutely love it.
Always worked christmas (even christmas day twice) from 16 - 26
Had 11 days off this year and it was rubbish. Nothing to do. Everyones got commitments. Would rather take 5/6 days off when I can do something. Pretty annoying having people with kids getting priority, but, thems the breaks.
I've got the
...power
AND the 19th til the not sure when yet off.
As it stands, I'm working Xmas eve, then off until the 2.
This holiday costs 0 days of annual leave, and equals 8 days off
For a spend of 4 days annual leave, I can upgrade to the bonus holiday package, which means finishing on the 20th and back in on the 6th, so a glorious 16 days worth of holiday.
I'm going to upgrade.
Agreed to work until the 29th
without really checking what days they have off for xmas. so prolly just two or three. ah well.
I had a premonition about this thread a couple of days ago

Have you booked any days off yet? Gonna ask sean for two weeks over Christmas and new year. I'll see what he says but I imagine people with kids will take priority.
no idea whatsoever
christmas chez catstro is going to be horrorshow this year due to family dramaz; might just work through it?
Ours had this potential
We did a trial run for fireworks on Sunday and it was all fine. Hope all will be well with you, bro x
FANKS CHINTZ
sure it'll be fine, Ima just pound the campari tonics through the whole thing
I MAY have been assisted on Sunday.
Just got the Friday off meaning that i finish Christmas eve
and then have 5 days off (including the weekend). Not too bad as the last few years i have had a couple fo weeks and it has got kind of boring towards the end. Looking forward to it.
Worrying number of people referring to time off work as boring in this thread
I think forced time off can be.
Seriously?
I'd rather pick up a book, or a phone, or a guitar, or a pen, or ANYTHING than think "I'm looking forward to getting back to work, I'm bored of this now". But, each to their own.
Got about 11 days of leave left
family business = chances of taking it all off are fuck all.
"You can't take those days off. We're busy then."
I want to have two weeks off
They should let me cause I really want it and care about Christmas loads and not Having time off puts me in a mood
I'll probably ask for a few days off
I am going here for a few days on the 19th

Very excited about this. Someone make it snow.
I'm very excited about some time off.
Don't get paid though, self employed. I'm quite happy sitting around saving money though.
Booked 23rd and 24th off,
back to work on the 2nd. Cannot wait.
December 19th - January 6th
18 clear days off, for the price of 9 days annual leave. It's 2 for 1.
Not really sure yet
But coming down to london for a week mid dec! One day travel cards for a week! :)
Closed from 24th to 2nd
woooo
as it stands I'm on call (at work) on christmas day 7:30pm til morning
but can maybe get out of it. Don't really mind that much.
Strangest christmas day I worked was at a homeless hostel. Just me there. Even the homeless had better places to be than in a hostel on xmas day. Just sat eating chocolates and watching xmas tv
At this point
I'm knocking it on the head on Thursday the 19th and going back in on the 6th. I've got a day and a half of leave still to use though so may call it a day at lunch time on Wednesday 18th. 18.5 consecutive days.
managed to get the 24th to the 27th inclusive
which isn't too bad, all things considered. Have to work the weekend of the 28th/29th though, so I only get 4 days back home. Pretty jealous of people whose workplaces close for 2 weeks.
20th Dec to 3rd Jan. Plus the first week of Dec, because I had to use it up.
