Seems like a nice enough bloke to me. Bit annoying how he goes along with the Lovejoy lad bants, mind, and it's hard not to be deeply suspicous about a grown man who ditches his football team (Tranmere) to support Liverpool, though to be fair to him he is from somewhere vaguely near to Merseyside, unlike lots of their fans.
A good egg, though, and his restaurants are widely-accepted as being pretty decent, though i'm sure one of DiS' resident indie points scorers will disagree.
He makes Lovejoy tolerable.
Lovejoy's a bumhat as an individual and I suspect Rimmer would be too, but they're mindlessly watchable as a duo.
I think Rimmer is a really angry man who probably remembers little remarks that Lovejoy's made when he gets home and smashes things. Find the show as a whole a cringefest, hard to watch, but then I'm like that with other things like The One Show, etc. Just find it really awkward like the atmosphere/interaction with whoever they've got on.
I actually think it's exceptional TV, but I can't quite articulate why I think this and most people tend to disagree with me. It's really accessible and informative. Yes, the bits where they interview celebs about their latest books are dull, but the current affairs, nature and human interest items are super. Lucy Siegle is a genuinely good journalist and adds a certain bit of authority, the bird watcher fella has an annoying voice, but will gladly lie in a hedge for two days waiting for a booby or whatever. As far as weekday dinner-time viewing goes, it beats the shit out of the competition.
Or just any interaction between humans that don't know each other well in life in general
But I fancy the blonde woman who brings them booze. They get a free pass for making her part of my life.
I wanted to make myself unsackable and if anyone were to sack me, it'd be me.
we get it
A BEER TO
i can find my own beer to go with curry thank you baldy
Those adverts where Lovejoy advertises the idea of having a beer with your dinner are really odd.
I don't think it advertised a particular product, it was more 'have a lager with your curry, it'll be decent' kind of thing
Crazy eyes though
so yeah, he's a wank
