Josh Holloway (post-Lost certainly)
but since starting to get small roles in Hollywood it's like those are the only parts he gets anymore
Have you seen Red, White & Blue?
really good isn't it. I'm kinda intrigued in the film he did with Danni Minogue
And was good as a one-off character in Ripper Street.
is the greatest piece of television acting I think I've ever seen. Remarkable.
Vicky McClure's a good actress but I've seen her in a couple of other bits and she's not really in the A league for me.
and she's possibly one of the nicest human beings I've ever met. Incredibly lovely lady.
He is incredible though.
I also think Smell (Rosamund Hanson) was great too. Haven't seen her in anything else.
Ricky Gervais dwarf thing.
Losing out on something like that must sting...
I think he was in Peaky Blinders, but I've not seen any of that.
Anyway, he was in one of those Sky Playhouse Presents one-off dramas a couple of weeks ago. He played a manic, charismatic but dangerously deranged murderer. It was one of the most terrifying and impressive pieces of acting I've seen in a long time.
Maura Tierney, but given her battles against cancer, that's understandable.
There are some actors who are really well known in this country, but I think deserve to win every brilliant role going, eg Maxine Peake, Anne-Marie Duff, Paddy Considine, David Morrissey, Sharon Horgan.
It's showing on Channel 4 at the moment, and all the episodes are still on 4oD if you're quick.
so...what'll it be?
With you on Josh Holloway, he was great in Mish Impobz 4.
An excellent film maker and actress that made a stunning documentary this year called Stories We Tell.
...look very straightforward.
but I can't get enough of Jason Clarke. Think he's awesome in everything he's been in, even White House Down "No I do not want a cake. I am diabetic!"
although, he's pretty big now because of Justified and Django. Don't think I've ever seen him in a lead-man role though, mostly he's just foil for the good guy/bit part bad guy who's awesome.
he was in GI Joe 2. he was hilarious and completely over-the-top and it was brilliant.
he's also turned up (again) in the latest series of Sons of Anarchy. also brilliant. i was reading an interview recently and apparently it's because Kurt Sutter wanted him on the show, be he said it would be too similar to him being on The Shield as it's the same network and basically the same audience, and he said he'd only do it if Kurt made his character transgender, so that's what Kurt did :D
Just looked up Sons of Anarchy - his character is called Venus Van Damne! Top stuff.
Been watching The Shield and Justified and he is fantastic in both, particularly Justified. Might have to check out Sons of Anarchy if he's popped up there too!
Always one step ahead of everyone as Boyd - so good. His chemistry with Timothy Olyphant is quality as well.
Actors should have strict quotas of how much they're allowed to be on my telly per year.
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Cole / http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Coleman / can't tell how serious you're being / aargh)
Genuinely don’t understand how he’s not a megastar.
but it makes me so happy he's managed to land the lead in a TV show that's successful
Kind of like Monk or something I guess, a gently funny crime drama. Not exactly must-watch, but good to watch.
Also, Fillion is great as Dogberry in Whedon's Much Ado About Nothing.
I mean, they're essentially the same programme, but it's great.
I love the Firefly jokes they sneak in there: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFj8eFZx-TA
but are both ace
Steve John Shepherd (Alfie Moon, Eastenders)
Toby Kebbell (Entire History of Yuo and in Escape Artist)
How can planks of wood like Ryan Gosling and Orlando Bloom become megastars when the folks on this list bask in obscurity?
Didn't all the ladies cream themselves over Josh Holloway's abs during Lost? He could act Gosling and Bloom under the table.
even if he is starting to get too many 'strong but silent' roles since Drive.
Everything I've seen him in has led me to believe he's technically on-par with Keanu Reeves, but without all the bewildered likeability that makes Reeves so watchable. Danny Leigh called Gosling an "indie Ken doll", and I'm inclined to agree.
I know he's had a huge amount of adulation recently which is going to put some people's backs up automatically, but claiming he can't act is ridiculous
just that his more recent roles are starting to steer him in that direction.
He should have been a bigger star. He's starred in some of the highest grossing films ever, but in smaller roles.
he was much better in small cult sci-fi/comedy roles. he's had loads of serious film roles and it's there his limitations tend to show up
Certainly deseve more than just the occasional Joss Whedon cameo.
I thought that might be because he's been raising his family while Alyson Hannigan has been working full time on How I Met Your Mother.
good old Joss :')
and did the Wesley dance at a party. Top marks.
which was shite and i couldnt take seriously because i just know him as the newsreader in HIMYM
He was credited with 'Additional Material', as only Aherne, Craig Cash and Henry Normal ever got a full writer's credit.
We all know he's had serious substance abuse issues but what was interesting was a mate went to Comic-Con and Sizemore gave a talk mentioning how he narrowly missed out on the role of Maximus in Gladiator to Russell Crowe. Makes you wonder where his career would have gone had he got that one...
aka hercules "...disappointed!" aka pierluigi in wog boy 2: kings of mykonos
I don't have a clue who they are
are two names that spring to mind.
Just waiting for her to carry a comedy of some sort on her own. When The Office started to go downhill really quickly after Steve Carrell left, she, for me at least, was the only thing keeping me watching because she had some truly amazing lines.
Other than the plane bit in Bridesmaids I feel like she was really underused.
Margo Martindale is also someone who crops up in everything but doesn't get as much credit as she deserves. She's apparently going to appear in Masters of Sex, which I'm looking forward to because she really is a great actress.
She's incredible in Orphan Black and I really hope this could be a breakout thing for her. Not seen anything else she's been in (which is a lot of TV movies apparently) other than that episode of Parks & Rec but, on the back of Orphan Black alone, I really want her to get some great roles now
He pretty much steals every scene he's in. Quite madcap in places, but his character in Dollhouse is genuinely unsettling and the way he plays it is fantastic.
A show that shouldn't be good but actually really is. The bits where he pops up as a super rich dentist are fantastic.
He was also great in Tucker and Dale vs Evil and is one of my favourite guest stars in NTSF:SD:SUV:: as a Swedish bicycle thief in an episode that's basically Point Break
He also does a great voice role in Wreck-It Ralph
Which would also probably explain why his wife, Agyness Deyn has all but disappeared from public view now.
it's just sometimes funny and sometimes serious
Was excellent as Orson Welles in High School Musical 4. Should've won an Oscar.
