I have a personal trainer session this evening. Absolutely terrified.
Tell me your news.
and that i wouldn't be able to do it. no big deal.
going to a magic the gathering draft tonight
i'm not too worried about it generally. at least it means i'm not absolutely terrible on paper, even when applying for things that I don't know how to do :D
I got her a £10 one last year but we've had a good 12 months and she's been behaving herself recently so I thought she deserved a little bonus. It's not a permanent up-rating though, and remains under review in future years.
plenty enough time to review before christmas as well
Got to bed last night at 1am thanks to some Scouting issues with... I probably can't say details. But if I tell you that it's on the same level of seriousness as that time I was personally sued by a boy's parents after he broke a leg then that might give you an idea. The issue isn't about me this time though, but I will be involved in the ensuing proceedings.
Sorry about being vague. It was a rough night and I've redacted a lot of out this message.
in addition I'm probably going to lose an old friend out of this too.
Last night, to cheer myself up, I read about collective nouns, but that's another thread.
or if you just need a sounding board too obviously.
That's absolutely awful. We had a really bad case in at a campe our group ran involving a campfire and legal action which I shouldn't go into here. I know it's the absolute pits.
Chin up, and if you need any help/advice from a scouting perspective, please drop me a pm.
Will keep that in mind.
Going to drink Old Fashioneds like they're going out of... style.
Tomorrow might be ugly.
production week! found a pretty bad error yday, but thankfully in time. woosh.
Chess tonight. should be a laugh.
a girl I can drop into conversations in a thinly-veiled fashion :)
who I really liked but so did a good friend – a lot – so I kept schtum. She drunkenly told me she really liked me and we 'hooked up' – friend found out and is not happy with me at all. I am a bad friend but I feel like a winner. She's great.
but it's all one big competitoin really and it's better to be the winner than the loser. Man up and speak to the friend and just say what you said to us- you had held back as you thought he liked her but then she made her feelings for you clear and now look what has happened. He should come around in time if your frinedship is important to him.
Bit of an unpleasant interim but I think the air is cleared.
It wasn't an altogether unpleasant experience although I did wake up fully clothed in my bed with some of it in my hair.
Tonight i am supposed to be going to tuts to see My vitriol (my friend is guest appearing on bass) but I think I am still a bit tripping from that curry and should propbably go to bed early with some porridge so I don't wreck my weekend by being ill.
but now i'm home and wired and bored out of my skull. Might go for a walk or convince some friends to go out for a drink. Hope the session goes well :)
I had my gym induction tuesday (do you even lift), which went well. I ache even more today though!!
Went to a pub quiz yesterday where we came joint 1st. We lost in the tiebreaker though. Had 8 pints, but the beer was 3.8% so feel great today!
results 1st, 2nd by half a point, 1st
I'll take you all on
EIGHT PINTS? Christ.
and i've been really spoilt already! My work bestie bought me a chocolate orange mocha latte and we're all going for lunch today.
Boyf is taking me for dinner and to see Les Mis...AND IM SO FUCKING EXCITED
Ruins it a bit.
You will love it so much. I think the live show is so much better than the film <3
AND HAPPY BLEEDIN BIRTHDAY lovely!! xxxx
Thank you sweetie xx
Ive had to sign on for JSA and my fucking christ are the people there patronising. Im signing on so I can give an employer a piece of paper at the interview and theyre STILL a bunch of condecending shit houses.
After your adviser spent 15 minutes sat at their desk doing nothing at the time you were meant to be seen?
Are all the jobs advertised in there for welders and forklift drivers still?
That's how I remember it.
They didnt search for jobs, just asked if I knew I had to pay for buses and made me sign about 15 pieces of paper.
Was running a bit late for work this morning and encountered the scottish neighbour in the hall. He was saying how late he was for a meeting he'd called, and asked if I could tell he'd been up drinking until 5 and was still drunk (yes, I really could).
He then sparked up a fag in the hallway and continued to smoke it in the lift (ILLEGAL!) as he lamented how he was worried he was just going to get there and probably just tell them all they were shit and to shut up.
To be honest I don't care, I just thought it was hilariously brazen.
once where he was in the hallway again talking about being late for his 3rd day
once where he just joined my friends and I sat at the local pub and was pretty offensive.
and told the people I work with when I arrived this morning.
So technically yes. This only happened this morning though. First time my Housemate got to experience him so that was fun to witness.
there is no prize. There are no winners. But the taking part is what counts
Want me to come over and kick her fanny in?
I hope the drinking of many pints will help you and that you have good people around you. (or no people if that is how you prefer to work these things out.)
Hes not posted yet, hope hes not constipated.
had a potato scone sandwich with loads of HP sauce and a giant mug of tea <3
who on earth is teaching you that?
wtf does that even mean?
:D it sounds like a real laugh though, love to go to that....are you allowed to contribute contrary pov's?
Module 2: The Bilderberg Group
basically, it's influenced by french historiography which has taken a very longterm socio-economic view rather than a focus on the political history of the nation state. it's a way of conceiving of capitalism that isn't preoccupied with class relations of production and exchange but more about the 'world-economy' as the unit of analysis. its really flawed though and i don't think it gives sufficient attention to the ways in which class relations will determine the form of a global markets.
Only in this job for another 6 days. So fucking tired
It took two weeks from my return from exams. I'm surprised it took that long, to be honest.
It's always a bit exciting. Hope I pick a winner, because if I don't then it's a trip to the glue factory, and they ain't coming.
i'm trying to make Bluestacks work and then I'm going to eat some lunch and then I'm going to totally RULE this presentation I have to do.
It'll be interesting to see if Grangemouth will have an impact.
so I'm going to go home and eat a sandwich in bed and have some red kola and a nap.
Unless you count hog roast in a bap. Mmm. I want to go to a Christmas market now.
bit of gravy
one HECK of a cob
but I would have no idea where to source one of these in glasgow.
I will investigate tomorrow. thanks :)
Judging from other threads you're always looking at things behind you! ;)
Just ate a crisp sandwich (with some cheese in also) and watched an annoying colleague trip over really, really hard.
and watching Murder She Wrote. Why do I watch this? I hate Jessica and her meddling ways.
turns out getting seen at short notice by a gp is trickier than I thought.
Was asleep by 10.30 I'm sure, woke up at 11.45 feeling really restless but wasn't really sure why. Tried to sleep. Tried to sleep. Read some of my book. Tried to sleep. Tried to sleep. Read some of my book. Finished my book. Tried to sleep. Last remember noting the time at 4am. Fucking annoying.
if I've just had my ear pierced?
When can I safely start doing sports again? Really lazy and unproductive at the moment and I need to get the old endorphins going again.
not team ones if your worried someone might hit it or summat, but summat like badminton, tennis, wiff waff, eton fives should be fine
or, ya know, RUNNING
There's a Real Tennis club down the road from me, looks a right laugh.
I'd read that you can't swim for about a month afterwards, running's a good call though.
still plays alumni matches. Probably the year before you started, mebbe.
Aye, just short wee runs. I've done the cambridge park run a few times and that is quite good. I also used to do some sprint training around Parker's Piece (ooh er, missus) - all good stuff.
I really need to get my act together - used to play a lot of football but I stopped because the captain was a prick. The registration deadline for players is in six minutes, best get to it.
just remember to clean it after
just put a plaster over it
Yeah, so remember I was telling you about my work issues. Well, underneath that it's all managed to unlock all the anxiety symptoms I used to suffer from when I was a teenager, but much much worse. On Monday I had a full blown panic attack at my desk, seized up, shaking.
I went to the doctors today as I've had a pain in my chest ever since and have had really erratic breathing. She said the pain was caused by inflammation on the joints on my ribs and chest plate (I didn't know those were joints) caused by how hard I was shaking. She also referred me for CBT but said it might be a few months. In the mean time she prescribed me beta blockers. I went and got them at lunch but I'm a bit scared to take them as I always thought they were bad.
Work have taken me off of one of my accounts, saying that my health is more important. One of my big bosses actually cried as she was so upset that our working environment was having such an effect on me.
However one of the triggers for Monday's incident was looking in my direct boss' diary to see where see was and seeing a load of meetings about replacing me and briefing my replacement and I thought I was getting sacked.
I'm going to give it a go, now that I'll only be on one client and won't have to work with or for a lot of the people causing me issues. I'm a bit of a mess at the moment however.
This was posted for catharsis rather than sympathy, but if you feel like giving me some, that would be ok
I think you need to forget about ALL work related stuff just now (including looking for alternative jobs) and focus on getting better. they'd be crazy to try and manage you out now, since you could have a personal injury claim against them. So consider your positoni safe. It sounds like your boss has mismanaged this ENTIRELY and your big boss has realised this, hence her upset and probably terror at the consquences.
PLEASE focus on getting better. I'm so sorry this has happened to you but you have amazing people in your life and you should lean on them and allow yourslef to be properly looked after. Take care x
Don't even think about work, they'll treat you with complete kid gloves. Take some time off
health is always more important. Always. Must be shit now but got to look at it as a fresh start (for yourself and hopefully for your work to see if they can improve things on their side). But as PO says, first things first - get better, then get back on the horse.
Give us a shout if you fancy a pint and or soft drink alternative at some point. Stay safe.
I had a really really similar experience in my last job and ended up taking the final month of my contract off. my employers didn't really give a shit at all though. nobody sent me a 'get well card' or anything. i got beta blockers too and they helped me a lot. take them. ask her to up your dose if you need it. it's a short term fix but really the best thing for your physical and mental health right now. it's not good for your heart to let severe anxiety get really bad to the point of attacks/fainting.
a few months later, i'm still recovering and i find i need to be really careful with stress triggers. been getting into mindfulness too which is helping loads. and taking time off when i need to (like today). it might be a longer term illness than you might first think so just concentrate on maximising your wellbeing and surrounding yourself with people you love.
don't worry about employment prospects/references etc. i spent so long worrying my sickness record was going to come back to haunt me but 1. that only made it worse 2. it didnt matter in the end because i'm hardworking and competent (and i'm pretty sure you are too).
it's bad right now, but if your experience is anything like mine, it's going to get better soon now that you've started addressing it. sorry ramble ramble ramble.
Take it easy. I've been struggling at work too, mainly because my personal life is stressing me out. Give yourself a breather and get well soon; just relieve the pressure on yourself which is by far the worst kind of pressure. It's a shame it came to this, but it could've gotten far far worse.
Best of luck with the future.
Just to flag I don't think they were getting rid of me, more that moving me off one of the clients was what they had planned, but used my attack as a way of making it sound nicer.
My big boss was aware of my issues as I'd been talking about how I'd been panicking worse and worse with her and how my confidence was almost completely eroded and she'd been really helpful with loads of books and stuff that had helped her
and possibly, unknowingly, even before (if perhaps not quite enough.) Really hope you feel like a weight has been taken off.
as everyone else has said up there ^ just try as much as possible to concentrate on feeling better within yourself first, no job nomatter what it pays is worth feeling that awful for
hope you feel better soon
No words really. Hope you feel better soon, really really.
feel better soon, man. Thoughts with you and all that.
Only thing I like about X-Mas is the mulled beer from there. Going to get smashed tonight to forgot
Are they havbing them in Glasgow? (and not the one in george square- it is a diabolical excuse for a christmas market). Or am I gonig to have to go to Manchester for my fix of food poisoning fromm oversized sausage and scalded palate from gluwein?
Snobs is closing down. Been once this century and it was pap. Was a big fan in the late 90s mind. Apparently it's been in the same place for 41 years but is now moving to bigger swankier premises.
(if you don't know it's an indie schmindie club which apparently has been there forever, well, 41 years)
She was pretty old and was generally a rubbish dog but I'm pretty sad. All time dog!
I'm really sorry :'(
fuck thursday. there, I said it.
so many people going through bad times. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day. (friday).
(I would have moaned about my flood damaged flat, but I am boring myself talking about ti in real life.)
Yeah, this has been a pretty shite week by all accounts for a lot of people <3
Went for breakfast at the SU. Spilled Ketchup all down my shirt. Had a full day of lectures and social stuff since, so I've looked like a prick all day. Ah well, first world problems, eh.
